I'm at school right now, and here I am posting stuff! Of course this is at college and things are much, much different.

I will tell you this: during my final days of high school I found out that this site was blocked because it had the word forum in the URL but I also somehow found out you could go on every porn site imaginable on school computers!

I never actually used the said sites, but lol what a broken filter.

My school doesnt allow anything that doesnt involve learning.

And weirder, one time they removed a math game site. Because it was more of a game? And my math teacher let us go on that every now and then. So he complained about it, and we got it back now. c:

I'm rather surprised when I found out the forums aren't blocked, since the school almost blocks almost every website. They also have internet blocking hardware, and almost nothing gets passed that.

My school blocks pretty much anything.

I've been trying to get pass that damned firewall for 5 weeks now, no success xD

They unblocked youtube, so it's not that bad xD

not going to risk it, cause, they can monitor what you do (well, actually my computer teacher only monitors what we do, i dont know about anyone else). i'm pretty sure it is, cause, the school basically uses a elementary, middle school, and highschool server. WTB. I mean, I might as well start up my own WiFi spot cause I want everybody to be able to get onto the internet. I'm pretty sure that it isn't. @Bricker try entering the website by typing https://www.mlpforums.com. It works for YT at my school. It should work on about any website that uses secure browsing

But while my school does block websites, I have iPhone for it and my iPad is connected to the wifi there. So ponies are always on hand

Everything is basically blocked at my school, unless you have a teacher's account or a student who goes to TAFE. Then almost every site is unblocked ^.^

You know what's funny? It's blocked at my school because, get this, chatting. They think I'm going to chat at school. I don't have to explain the irony, do I?

To everyone for whom MLP Forums is blocked at school or work, meet your new best friend, Ultrasurf. It's a proxy tool that does not require installation or even admin rights to work, and encrypts whatever you're doing so that your school or boss can't see what you're up to. Although my school is generally quite lax on blocking anything other than porn and piracy sites, they recently began to block YouTube video streams. Ultrasurf was the solution for this - compared to TOR, there's no noticeable speed loss and it's a lot more difficult to block.

As it was originally designed to circumvent China's government filters, it's more than adequate to get past most filters used by schools and workplaces. ;)

A full-blown VPN solution, UltraVPN, is available as well if you're looking to get past a blockage of non-web services like Steam or Minecraft. In my experience, it's a bit more temperamental than Ultrasurf; but there's nothing quite like having your entire Internet connection piped through an encrypted tunnel.

Although we are not officially allowed to use Fbook or basically any social site, our school doesn't block them.

Good guy Feld0. Teaching us how to pass over the law enforcements and stuff  . Guys, now we know Feld0 will do everything to help us get here. So now, if the police ever come finding him, we protect him become his alibi, and save him from unjustified jail, understood? B)

meet your new best friend, Ultrasurf.

It is my only friend....

Thank You very much! It is somewhat hard to find a bypass that will auto delete the cache/history and hid your IP address. I will use when the school doesn't have lanschool on. Have you ever heard of lanschool? They are a major pain to get by, since they have monitoring and the system goes crazy if it even gets the slightest idea of you trying to bypass it... That and lanschool will sue if they find you bypassing...

I was wondering this before I ran into this thread!

At my school, it is blocked as "Forums". I don't know why it would be blocked, because I'm able to access youtube all the time!

...

I didn't hack the firewall... and make it so I could go on youtube... don't tell the principle...

That is awesome. I will look into that. I always hate how school blocks websites. I mean, most of the websites that I go to are appropraite, but I always land across one site that is blocked for no reason. Thanks Feld0.

Wow, they will sue. First off, the schools are way too strict. I go to a magnet school, and they block the websites because, well, it is a filter that is used by all grades (including college). I dont know why they would sue. I mean, it isn't illegal. Can you explain to me this

Yes. We pay the bail too. We will all make sure Feld0 doesn't even get arrested. I am so happy that Feld0 wants us here (I know he does). Thank you Feldo from saving us from boredom at school

My school is 20% cooler than the rest, because it doesn't block any sites.

Not even Facebook, YT, Twitter, etc.

I'd cuss at the teacher if he blocked access to brony stuff like Equestria Daily or MLPForums.

Of course I can explain it. When the school signs the contract that allows them to use the Lanschool program, it says on the contract "Bypassing, editing, or changing the software will result in term violation and can result in a lawsuit" A couple of guys in a computer class found away around the program and LanSchool took "Legal action"...

My school doesn't block sites unless they're visited often enough to garner attention from the evil Watchers that they have monitor EVERYTHING you do. It's evil.

And it's a public school so what the flying feather.

There is a loophole to this. Legal action doesn't say how far they can take the legal action. It has to be reasonable. Therefore, you go on the forums, the legal action could only be small. The site you were on was perfectly legal. Plus, you have right to go on sites as you please in your freetime. You were legally the right age to be on the site. Just look far enough into the constitution, that is how I find all my loopholes. A rule in the constitution is that your not allowed to use promoted pirating software. Didn't say you can create your own and use that. I have loopholes for every law

Well, I also had to sign a technology usage agreement with the school that basically said If you are caught on a website your not supposed to be on well result in withdraw from my computer rights and a few days in ISS. Yeah the computer teachers here act like your parents.

As for getting past lanschool, even if I could, going on a simple website like MLP forums still results in severe legal action. These people are dead serious.

I have no idea honestly.. I'm a freshman and I've only been on the computers once. Plus all of our computers are closely put together so I don't know if I'd feel very confortable just browsing the forums at school. Besides I only know of 1 girl who has ever even shown any evidence of watching MLP. And all she did was post some pony pics on FB.

I never talked to her about it though :P. It would be weird if it was blocked tho... Wouldn't think anyone at my school would know about it.

Equestria Daily was blocked at work. Not sure why as there was no explanation given and the site wasn't filtered into any particular category. I had a way to circumvent it, but it all seemed rather strange. Nothing else pony related was blocked.

I would rather have it banned at a work place of educational facility (eg School or college) as it would make going on it when you get home at the end of the day 10x better, just my opinion though.

For my school, the MLP forums are blocked. The reason stated is that it is a site for "social networking". Doesn't really phase me, but many other forums sites have also been blocked.
