Rarity Paige Belle 1,854 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 (edited) I tried to read Fallout Equestria earlier on, and after just five minutes found it, well, appalling! Anneal 2,197 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 I tried to read Fallout Equestria earlier on, and after just five minutes found it, well, appalling! I have a 8yr old who watches FiM with me and I would not want her reading that stuff. So, should Hasbro make more use of C&D's? No, if anything, C&D's should be used less frequently. It's the parents or relative's responsibility to prevent young children who actually watch the show from anything that might be considered inappropriate. On the other hand, bronies should make it clear-cut what is NSFW and what is not in case a person manages to accidentally stumble onto it.
Dark Qiviut 22,447 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 No, and that's a question so over the top, you'll get plenty of people in and out of fandom riled up. Instead of having someone high up C&D someone, it should be your responsibility as a parent to monitor what your kids are watching. Also, kids that young should NOT be on any corner of the Internet beyond just a few places. 7 "Talent is a pursued interest." — Bob Ross Pro-Brony articles: 1/2/3/
BastementSparkle 20,328 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 No. You're going to censor people's hard work just to keep a child safe? It's not their responsibility, it's yours. Parents should keep an eye on their children to make sure they aren't looking up stuff that they don't think their kid is ready for yet. There's no need to ruin other people's work. I love Fallout: Equestria. It's a great story that combines one of my favorite shows and one of my favorite games together. It's not meant for children because most of them wouldn't be ready for it yet. It's meant for more mature fans. It's not the author's responsibility, it's not Hasbro's, it's yours. 5 Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to? ghostfacekiller39 23,860 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 Keep your kid away from it, dude - don't try to say that the creative input of this fandom (one of it's most redeeming and enjoyable qualities, in my opinion) should be limited for the "children's sake." Should kids that young even be on the internet, anyway? If I was a father, I'd be watching my kid whenever they use the internet when they're that young. When they turn 12 or 13 they'll have freedom, but 8? Should they even be ON the internet? 6 He who is Positively Obsessed With All Things Rarity!!! Check out the Rarity Fan Club! I'm just saying, as someone who does have a kid, I can understand why Hasbro is wary of us. Beautiful, Stylish, Fabulous AND evil! What more could you want? Red Cedar 1,408 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 You should be watching what your 8 year old does online anyway. If you want to share any fan-created works with your child you should vet them first. That said, it is a fine line between protecting your trademark and ticking off your fanbase that Hasbro has to walk. I think they've tried to be as accommodating as possible without letting fans get away with absolutely everything. (My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic is an example of something that was really just begging to get C&D'd.) There are some things they cannot go after. Fanfics, for example, fall under a clause of copyright law covering protected expression, and therefore Fallout: Equestria is fair game, but they have to protect their vested interests or they lose them under the same intellectual property laws. Overall, since I've really only heard of Hasbro C&Ding two things, I'd say they've been pretty good to us. Red Cedar 1,408 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 Could you please explain? Well, you had a bunch of fans basically making Mortal Kombat for ponies, using a Hasbro trademark ("My Little Pony") directly in the title and making it available online in such a way that on quick glance it might just be mistaken for something the company itself put out, but was horribly out of keeping with the theme of the original. As a concept, I think it was a great idea, and I'd have loved to play it, but I am not in the least bit surprised it got a C&D order. SveciaDash 364 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 (edited) Well it comes down to personal opinion doesnt it? I dont want hasbro to C&D stuff but that isnt really gonna keep them from doing it. And by the way your 8yr old is probably not gonna find fanfics on the internet, if you give your child internet (or brother/sister?) they will come by some nasty stuff, and thats just the reality of things. Hell I was 10 when I downloaded a regular normal tower deffense game on WC3 that had well, 18+ stuff as pictures for the towers. As long as the work is content tagged(and restricted if need be properly) then all the responsibility is on the parents to keep their kids away from it. Besides, God knows she could got a hold of the TV remote and find much, much worse. Just look at the shit that air on the news. Metemponychosis 1,262 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 They should C&D troll threads. https://www.fimfiction.net/user/32864/Metemponychosis For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out. Dainbow Rash 80 May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 Well first off, this screams "troll thread". I don't like when Hasbro C&D's things like Fighting is Magic and Button Mash but in the end, it is within their rights to do so. Fanfiction on the other hand; I don't even think they can C&D that because it is protected. It is your job to keep your 8 year old safe on the Internet. It isn't our job to censor our art, nor is it Hasbro's job to censor it for us. Also, if you were "appalled" by the content of Fallout Equestria, you definitely haven't read many MLP fics. http://i-iz-a-person.deviantart.com/ I-Iz-A-Person: 20% Cooler since 2013

Oblivion 20,271 May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 No they should not, just because some young kid might stumble over something on the internet that is NSFW, is no reason to ruin it for the rest of us. Did someone say, "Sweet Apple Massacre"? don't do it please. I read that, and to be honest I just kinda laughed as I was readding theough it, there comes a point when things become so grusome, so disturbing, that it just becomes completly unrealistic, and for some people have the oppiste effect. Nulln 755 May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 I'm gonna have to be the mean mom here. I don't let my son online unless I am sitting with him, and I doubt I'm going to let him on without me until he's like 16. lol I've seen rainbow factory and cupcakes with comments from some angry mom who's daughter was crying after watching them. I guess they should have been labeled as nsfw since it's a kid's show they're imitating, but the mom really should have watched the videos first. Assuming it wasn't just a troll account. It depends on what kind of person you are, I just laughed because it was so bad that it was to the point on not even being somewhat believable, though some people do find it VERY disturbing.
