Fan Clubs overtaking Sugarcube Corner

Freewave

I know they are popular but can't there be a subforum FOR them that you can move all those many character threads to?  They are taking up almost 1/2 that forum's front page. I would think a subforum would be very much appreciated so they're not sprawled all over the place.

You know, I had a thought about that as well, for it definitely needs a subsection for that.   Like, have them all Stickied, from Twilight to the minor characters, :D.    Not a bad idea.    Let's see what the admins say.

There's a master pinned thread which can work as a directory for them and then they all can be tossed in the subforum TO sugarcube corner so they don't clutter it up..... My thoughts......

With just how many fanclubs there are if they were all pinned they would end up taking up an entire page. At this point a subforum would probably be a good idea, there was subforum made for political and religious topics when they were flooding general discussion so I don't see why not.

so I don't see why not.

x) Because they drop in and out of popularity. A season just ended, all levels of activity have risen. This is the first time I've ever heard this complaint, ever, and I'm looking at the topics now, and while there are indeed a large number of them, I don't see that lasting. I don't feel making an entire subforum is needed, because in another few days to a week or so, the clubs will probably drop off again. Acting upon every upwards trend seen is not a wise decision, in everything from stocks and economics to community aspects. If they don't drop off, then something would probably be worth being sorted out.

Just my two cents.

I support this suggestion. It was brought up and turned down in the past due to the concerns raised by CD above, but fan clubs have become far more active and numerous than they ever were in the past. They currently make up twenty-three of the threads on the first couple pages of Sugarcube, more are being made quite frequently, and some of the more active ones (such as for Mane Six ponies) aren't ever going to die down so long as they have people out there dedicated to posting in them daily. At this point I think a section of their own would make sense as a response to this, and would free up Sugarcube to let other sorts of discussions stand out more. I'd be willing to track down everything and move it all, if this is something that people decide to go through with.

Mmhmm.

I do think that fanclubs should have a mini-section with the Mane 6's fan clubs pinned and spike's, totally not because I made it for easy access. I mean, we have the hub, but it takes a hell lot of time to find it if you don't know where to look. And it would make it that much easier to make fanclubs / know where to sort them.

So yes, I completely support this.

I agree - while CD made a good point, I think it should be noted that the fan clubs are on a HUGE upswing right now, one that's never been seen by the fan clubs on MLPF before. There's a lot of activity and a lot of fan clubs, so much it's beginning to overrun Sugarcube Corner, and we're not seeing them slow down at all, but rather, they're gaining momentum.

It's creating clutter, first off - some people want to go in there and look for a topic to discuss, but all they're seeing are these little fan clubs that keep growing and growing, which is making it harder for them to find a topic they want to discuss. Even though a large quantity of my posts in SC Corner are in the Rarity fan club, there's people who don't want to be in a fan club, they just want discussion instead of pony-worship and camaraderie - which is absolutely fine. Forums rely heavily on discussion, and people want to discuss things - they shouldn't have to sift through these fan clubs in order to find a topic they want to throw their two cents in. It's making things more difficult for those users.

Also, the camaraderie you find in the fan clubs is something that I feel should be experienced by every fan of a certain pony. I know I've made some great friends in the Rarity fan club, and this would make fan clubs that much more accessible to the public. They're becoming a big part of MLPF from my point of view, and a lot of that is due to how it makes finding new friends with similar interests easier on newer members. The sort of camaraderie I've experienced in the Rarity fan club is something I feel everyone should be able to experience - giving the fan clubs their own sub-forum would make it that much easier for new members to stumble across them and make new friends with similar interests. If they make new friends, than they'll stick around, and the more people who stick around, the more the community grows.

Friendship, a more welcomed feeling for newer members, accessibility for members not interested in fan clubs, community growth, etc. - there's so much to be gained from giving the vast amount of fan clubs on MLPF their own sub-forum. If things stay the way they are, it's just going to keep Sugarcube Corner cluttered with the number of fan clubs there are, which has got to be frustrating for members who want to discuss things in SC Corner that doesn't pertain to fan clubs.

There's a lot of fan clubs in that section of the forums, and they're only picking up steam.

I completly agree with the idea.

A subforum would allow a better organization of all the fan clubs.

Some time ago,I had problems finding the Applejack Fan Club(per example),because it was buried away through the Sugarcube Corner.

Lately the activity on the fan clubs has been increasing to historical numbers on this forum, but, sometimes, there's still a moment when no one post on them, and they end buried again, just to repeat the process over and over.

Like some people said before,a subforum would allow more than an easier organization. It would allow the new users to have an easier access to their respective ponies' Fan Clubs.

To resume all of this,I'm up for the change ^^(\

EDIT:CD has its point too.The Fan Clubs work like the Capitalism, with moments of uprise and glory(per example,on this moments),followed by moments of "depression",and moments of recovery, just to start the process all over again

The thing is that, sooner or later, the activity on the Fan Clubs will decrease, and will reach a ppint where they'll be buried through the Sugarcube Corner.

A subforum would help to have them on a location where they don't get buried by other posts.

I support your suggestion wholeheartedly, Freewave. I can see that fanclub threads are beginning to choke out other threads, which isn't good. I disagree with CD that fan club threads won't last long. To me, they seem to have become an integral part of this community, so they probably will be around for some time. I also think that it is likely that people will continue to post new fan club threads for characters as the show continues to progress.

I've posted a topic about this in one of the staff discussion forum sections. Hopefully we can reach a decision about this in the near future.
