@@Pripyat Pony (Mentioned for bump, Dovashy needs interaction)

@@Ano170,  (Time to get the ball rolling, I think)

@, (Ivan i'm sending you a friend, look after her!)

Sitting at the other end of this throne room, was none other than Princess Cadence herself, tapping her hoof wearily against the throne.

"And what do we have here? Another one for the mines?" She called out half-heartedly as a guard approached her from the side; proceeding to whisper something in her ear that clearly piqued her interest. "Oh, I see...this is the pegasus that's been giving us trouble?" she spoke quietly, but the room echoed her voice enough that her words could clearly be heard. "Didn't you say it was a mare, however? No... it was? What do you mean it might have been? No but this is clearly a stallion... this is him? Why didn't you just say so in the first place?!" She shoved several pieces of paper into the guard's chest, knocking him off balance and causing him to step back, as Cadence herself stood from her throne, her wings flaring wide and her head held high as she addressed the stallion. "You've caused us quite the issue, breaking out of here and running into the blizzard; disrupting the erecting of the shield and taking these guards from their route..." She shook her head, walking towards the stallion and tutting as she folded her wings in "But, no matter, you're back with us and you're safe now aren't you?" Leaning down to Arrow's level, she lifted his chin with her hoof and looked him over. "See to it that he's fit for battle, I want him checked over by... someone competent, then send him to the armory for suiting." she lashed at the guards who had brought him in, while returning to her throne.

Immediately, the guards hauled the pegasus to his feet and dragged him out of the throne room, shunting him towards the medical pavilion.

"Best not to disappoint the Empress, you're lucky she didn't hang you right there. You wouldn't be the first." One of the guards jeered, the other sniggering beside him as they walked.

Cadence turned to one of her personal guards at the foot of her throne before taking her seat.

"If he warned Celestia, everything will need accelerating. Find the Onyx, bring them here. It's time for phase two."

@@SilverHeart@, (Bump for notice, this interaction is going off right in front of the tavern)

The door to the tavern burst open, a particularly... well... normal looking Onyx guard practically cleaving his way through the door almost burst right over Silver Heart while she stumbled around the doorway. He looked down at her, recognizing her as the medical officer he was looking out for almost immediately.

"Get up." He growled, his voice particular muffled by the heavy plate covering his mouth. "We're going." This was followed promptly by the blunt end of a halberd being thrust against the mare's side. "Southern outer warding. Go."

_____

Stoic continued along his set path towards the southern warding, reaching his destination within a half an hour with little incident yet again. The lack of action certainly had an effect on the stallion, constantly building up an unquenched rage inside him.

"Why do I always get this job? Cadence knows i'm better suited to breaking things...breaking ponies..." he muttered to himself.

"Because, ponies can't talk if they're dead, and she keeps you around as insurance, you know that" He answered himself, strangely.

"I know, but it wouldn't kill her to let me kill something, would it?"

"You could always drag out one of the injured, they're not long for this world anyway, what about that unicorn mare and her sister?"

"Not going to happen, you saw what happened to the last."

"Shame, they never talk much, do they?"

He shook his head, dismissing the conversation before it could progress any further. He was directly underneath the warding stone now, and while it was flickering a slightly yellow glow, it was still holding strong. Planting his feet and firing off a magical discharge, he began powering the ward with his own magic - something that would take him a while to accomplish.

"Who knows... maybe that... nurse will... be interesting company..." he struggled under the strain of his magical focus.

"Why... did you want her... anyway?"

He responded to himself again, but this time only with a simple grin, nothing more as he directed all of his attention to continuing to charge the wardstone.

Swindle and Glacier.

@@Agent505,

@@SilverHeart,

Glacier bristled with pent up frustration as the scene caught his eye. Swindle, on the other hoof, didn't see it so much as he heard it.

"Easy there big fella..." murmured the twin as he held a hoof up across Glaciers chest.

"This is... Ugh, Swindle, that there filly doesn't much look like she wants to be here..."

"I know! I know... but getting yourself killed isn't going to help anypony now, is it?"

Glacier didn't respond - he was still watching the group outside the tavern.

"Just stay hidden and keep close. I want to see whats happening - this could be the break we're looking for... 'Southern Outer Warding'... meet me at the Ratway if things go south."

The words left his mouth at tremendous speed, before he paused - grinning.

"Strength and Fortune..."

"... Speed and Skill."

And with that, the wiry brother slipped away: circling the building before searching out the targets he was to follow. Glacier watched, and waited. He wasn't as sneaky as his brother, despite all attempts to educate him. Certainly he could hide, and could blend in with a crowd if need be... but this was their way - he hung back and followed from a distance where any mistakes would matter less.

Arrow said nothing as the guards led him to what he assumed to be the medical pavilion.  For one thing, he did not wish to give the sneering guards the satisfaction of eliciting a response with their taunts. For another, he was, to put it mildly, hopelessly confused.

Yet, while it was true that Arrow was not being sent to a train station or hot air balloon as he would have hoped, he also was not being sent to a dungeon or a noose. So, for now at least, he decided it was easier to play along with whatever was happening until he had enough information to untangle whatever this evident misunderstanding was. Besides, frankly the pegasus was exhausted - he had no real qualms over a rest in a medical tent, so long as it was brief.

There was, however, one other reason for Arrow's silence: awe. He tried not to gape too obviously at the architecture around him, but it was difficult not to - everything was made of shining, shimmering crystals. The pavement beneath his hooves was a deep purple, and so polished he could see his own bedraggled reflection. The buildings and spires around him were dozens of brilliant shades that reflected the sunlight and made the whole place dazzling - in spite of himself Arrow found it all beautiful. Even the ponies, now that he could see them clearly, appeared to be made of the things; no wonder they were so strong...

Just where am I? What "Empire" is this?

Arrow was taken from his thoughts abruptly however when one of the guards gave him one last shove - they really seemed to enjoy pushing him around - into a white tent. He watched their shadows take up positions on either side of the tent flap - he could also see the outline of what looked like a mare, possibly a nurse. From outside came the sound of ponies coughing, groaning and cursing. Lots of them.

Injured ponies....Arrow frowned, his eyes narrowing as he thought. Some sort of conflict then, certainly. I've been away from Equestria for too long...

Looking up, he noticed the tent was in fact already occupied by another pony: an earthpony stallion who appeared to be sporting some sort of leg wound. Arrow gave him a cautious nod.

When the wolf started talking Emery wondered if finally all the pressure had final broken his mind or maybe his blood pressure had gotten too high dealing with Crystal and he had a stroke and this was all some dying dream. But then the wolfs master came out and things started to at least make a bit more sense. He gave a snort as she talked about the rebellion and opposing Cadence. "There is no rebellion, you realize you're talking about the Crystal Empire right? For us King Sombra's reign wasn't too long ago; there was a rebellion then do you know what happened to it? It failed."

He shook his head and started to move the cart into the outpost, he didn't feel comfortable exposed like this, but he continued to talk. "After the empire returned the rebels were freed but anypony worth anything in a fight joined the guard, and the guard now belongs to Cadence. All that's left in the empire is broken ponies, crushed former rebels that know a fight is hopeless or former slaves so desperate to avoid making things worse they would lick her hooves clean to avoid the collar and chains. The most opposition you'll find here are those desperate few cowering in the shadows wanting only to remain hidden and me, who has enough of a struggle trying to keep the former fed and alive."

He started to close the door to the outpost on her and the wolf, "you're contribution will only bring the guard down on us, so bring it elsewhere."

,

Crystal's eyes peaked open when she heard the nice Pegasus speak again; realizing what she was doing when she held out her hoof Crystal's paralysis broke and she scampered to it huddling against her side. Let the Pegasus protect her from the view of the other ponies and to lead her away from them.

Regaining control of herself she whispered up to the older mare, feeling ashamed, "I-I, I'm sorry. I've never liked it when a pony stares at me and it's extra important now nopony see's me go into the tunnels." She was letting her head hang, and her voice was quavering, "and they did both and I didn't know what to do and and-and..."

She was sniffling now and her eyes were watery and she could stop it; she was angry at herself and ashamed, this mare seemed so nice and cool and she had saved her and given her bits! All Crystal wanted now was to impress her and make up for freezing but she couldn't stop sniffling like a baby and that only made her more mad which made her sniffle even harder.

Wind Symphony.

@@Torrent505,

Symphony stretched out a wing to wrap around the filly, flashing the occasional scowl or threatening gesture towards those who had gathered around as she barged her way past the ponies who were too slow in getting out of the way.

'There really isn't any way that this is going to be profitable, is there? Ugh... I've got to stop pulling stunts like this...'

She ruffled her feathers indignantly - a blackened and sickly looking feather falling from her crippled wing. This would be so much easier if she could just carry the girl away. Glancing down towards the filly, she was just about to snap done kind of comment about how she had lost her nerve...

'It's hardly her fault, is it? She's only little!'

'I hate kids.'

'We were that age once, remember? Ugh, you're hopeless...'

Symphony blinked.

"So... uh..." She said blankly - casting around for a way to distract the filly as the crowd thinned and they gradually found less and less faces looking uncomfortably curious about the pair. "What's your name kid?"

Arrow listened to the friendly seeming stallion in thoughtful silence - he seemed surprised to see the guards behaving rough, that at least was a good sign.

Cadence....That must be The Empress...

Arrow blinked, surprised at the question and unsure about how to respond - he was reluctant to reveal his ignorance to the other pony just yet, however affable he appeared. Besides, something else about the stallion had caught Arrow's attention.

"You're from Gaeland." The accent was distinct. Gaeland was not Trotland, but they were neighbours - if nothing else, this pony may have news of Arrow's homeland.

Silver Heart

@@Agent505,

Silver Heart stumbled away from the guard that burst through the Tavern doors. She looked up at the stallion as he looked down at her. The armor easily set him apart from the other guards and soldiers of the Crystal Empire, he was an Onyx Guard. Few ponies were safe from their wrath. She stood up, ready to bow. "I'm so sor-agh!" Silver gasped, or tried to.... The force of the Onyx Guard's blow was enough to knock the air out of her lungs. Somehow Silver had managed to keep herself from falling to the ground. Tears in her eyes, Silver looked up at the guard before meekly nodding. It would be less painful to just do what she was ordered to.

(OoC: It's safe to assume all the higher ranking soldiers of the empire (Stoic, Sanguine and Golden Age) would know the horn and its calling, the other newer and less informed additions (Arrow and Silver Heart) would be otherwise unaware and will likely need instruction from others).

The Onyx shunted his way out of the tavern's doorway, stepping out into the streets and looking back at Silver Heart. He didn't speak, he simply nodded his head to one side, gesturing down the road in the direction Stoic had headed off in.

The heavy plate and chain grated against each other as he walked off, giving a distinct location to his position to even the most amateur of listeners; not that it made any difference to anything for anyone who tried sneaking up on them, they all ended up the same way.

As he reached the alleyway aside the tavern, he suddenly ground to a halt, ears pricked high. Mere moments later, the unmistakable sound of the empire's summoning horn blared throughout the land, echoing long and deep in the ears of all its residents.

The palace. He grunted, turning on the spot and locking his halberd in position in the modified armour slot by his side before thundering at a brisk pace in the opposite direction, heading for the crystal palace.

_____

There was an intense flash of light, followed by a single beam jutting into the air before promptly vanishing.

Stoic grinned at his hoofwork, following the beam as it powered the shield before turning to begin making his way to the other wards, only to hear the horn bellowing in his ears.

"HaHA!" He chuckled enthusiastically, "Time for some REAL action! There's only one reason Cadence would have use for that horn..." excitedly, he began galloping towards the palace, using his teleport to place himself several hundred feet further down the line at regular intervals - there was no way he was missing this.

Swindle and Glacier.

Swindle winced slightly as he watched the mare drop to the ground - flinching instinctively at the callousness of the strike.

'Ouch, I could almost feel that myself...' He thought. It was more than idle musing - the internal monologue helped the trickster focus.

'What, that's how these guys get their kicks? Ugh... good job I left him to trail behind...'

Glancing back, Swindle caught sight of the telltale sign of his brother. A quick signal later, the bulkier pony had gone to ground. Swindle breathed a sigh of relief - practice was paying off after all: his brother wouldn't ever be an expert at subtlty... but at least he knew to keep his head down these days.

'... fool would be running in like some kind of white knight and getting us both killed. Personally, I'm pretty find of not being dead.'

And then the horn echoed out.

Swindle panicked - he had heard of it and it wasn't easy to surprise the trickster, but it was so unexpected that he didn't react immediately. As the armoured figures turned, he slipped into the shadows at the last moment: not having the time to signal his brother.

Sanguine glanced at the sky for a brief second as the sound of the horn carried overhead. He quickly averted his gaze away from the great expanse, but he was now far too excited to feel any sort of nausea. The short psychopath grinned, chuckling mirthfully, "Oh, it has been many an age since I've heard that beautiful noise... This can only mean something fun is going to happen."

Sanguine began making his way back to the Palace, a Cheshire grin on his face all the while. The last time he heard that horn would have been when the Royal Sisters, Celestia and Luna, came and vanquished the King... He was positive that Canterlot was not on their way to the Empire, so he doubted the Horn was signalling an attack. Rather a call to arms, to make ready for the coming conquest. The assassin glanced back at his Onyx companion, "Be swift, miles*! A glorious day is upon us!" With that, Sanguine picked up his pace, opting to go for the roads less traveled in the Empire to avoid crowds. He made sure to keep his companion in sight, though he doubted it was necessary. While he was a sadistic murderer who took great enjoyment in his job, he was still a military officer to some degree. He was used to commanding his fellow assassins, ponies who also traveled in shadow, and not those who walked in the open like the Onyx, but he was content.

Sanura looked around the group. Everypony seemed to be ready, and they needed to set off right away and not waste any time. There was something very wrong in the Empire, and they wouldn't find out by staying here. Sanura didn't want to take charge, but it seemed as tho everypony was waiting for somepony to do so, and why shouldn't it be her?

"OK, everypony," the zebra earth pony mare said. "We're all ready, we have everything we need, so what are we waiting for? We will take the first leg of the journey today. However, we will have to stop when darkness falls, in case of dangerous creatures and the like. I will go and scout out the terrain and report back before we start off again. I hope that we will cover the more familiar country before darkness falls, so that we can simply press on without having to scout."

Sanura led the group out of the armoury, thru the throne room where Luna gave them all a nod and her personal assurance, and then out of the palace. Inwardly, she was smiling. Sanura always got restless hooves whenever she didn't have a mission, and now she was on another.

Arcane was wondering if they would stop by any towns along the way. Perhaps they would just be traveling in the wild and setting up camps. He really hoped they would stop by Neighagara Falls at the least, one of his favorite small villages was placed not too far from there, not to mention its beautiful there. Either way, he wanted to be over with this mission so he could get back home and continue his work. Leaving a flux core just laying around for too long wasn't a very good thing.

Arcane trotted up to Sanura and tapped her lightly with his hoof. "Miss Sanura? Do you know what exact stops we might be taking? I do not enjoy not knowing where we are going. If we are planning to head out without any town stops, i would hope we at least take the quickest route possible. Seeing as you are best fit for command, a good plan might be in order? I would also like to go over strengths and weaknesses as i mentioned before."

(OOC: replying on my phone so I couldn't just "mention" you, sorry!)

"I never gave it. "Arrow responded evenly. He followed the other stallion out of the tent. "It's Arrow. "

He was no closer to finding out what was going on or where he was, and he had been interrupted before he could ask this pony if he had any news of the North. Arrow struggled to restrain a snort of frustration.

"So...I assume you would like some catching up, in terms of the recent events, Arrow?" he asked. He took great care to take his time as he made his way, for he had hoped to have some time to inform him. "Oh, and in case you were wondering, m'names Golden Age, first lieutenant in, well, now it's her highness Cadance's army."

Silver Heart

The loud (and sudden) blaring of the horn forced an additional wince out of Silver Heart before she looked back at the castle.

"Yes sir..." she mumbled as she turned around to follow after the guard. Was that a war horn? Maybe the Princesses were beginning to take action against Cadence.

Sanura was relieved that one of the team had come up to her, as she didn't feel as tho she wanted to shoulder the burden of the journey alone. She turned to Arcane and said, "Well, we have two choices. We can either follow the railway tracks all the way, which has the good points of having several town stoppages, little or no risk of wild animals and a certain route to follow. On the minus side, the route is rather long, and would take several days more than I would like. Or, we could cut across at one point and cut off a big loop of the tracks. This would put us in danger of animal attack, not to mention the lack of any cover and no stops so our supplies might not hold up. I'd be happy to hear what everypony else thinks."

(I know it's been my fault that we're all quiet, but if you could make your next posts about entering the palace, we'll get going).

As Stoic bound his way over the last leg of his journey, he found himself faced with a closed palace door. Not to let that stop him, he continued galloping towards the door, blinking through it at the last second with his teleport spell.

He came to a skidding halt inside the grand hall, kicking his legs a little to stop himself from sliding across the polished crystal and smacking against Cadence's throne.

He stopped himself with plenty of room to spare however, and as he recovered his bearings, he noticed the entire room was lined with guards, both crystal and onyx, even some royal guards were attending the ceremony - most likely to keep things in order.

"Stoic, where are the rest of the soldiers? I need leaders, not rabble!" Cadence sighed, kicking her hoof as she stood from her throne, stepping down the small flight of stairs that elevated it just so.

"I saw Golden Eye on his way as I ran past, he was with a pegasus I don't recognise. I sent Sanguine out to the wards, and nurse Silver Heart should be joining me with the rest of the Onyx soon. The wards are all active and strong, the shield will hold."

"I hope for your sake you're right, they had better be here soon." She paced around the room a little, walking up and down the front line of her guards and inspecting them every now and again.

(Ooc sorry this took so long and is kinda short ps fuck autoCorrect keeps changing my in's into his)

Don fell into the darkness and all of a sudden came to a stop hitting something fluffy. With a grunt Don got up. all of a sudden there was a small light chipper had lit a candle that was close by. As Don took in what little surroundings he could see he found that he landed on a old set of mattresses next to the Mattresses there was a box of candles and a candleholder which chipper was standing next to and in his hoof was a tinderbox. Chipper smiled at Don and said "enjoy your first trip"as he walked towards Don and brushed off some dirt from his shoulder. Don stepped off the mattress pile and said "do we have some time to talk now I have many questions about what's going on here."chipper losing his smile looked at Don with eyes full of pity and said "you truly don't know what happened do you."Don just looks at chipper slightly angry now and says "what happened you're acting like king Sombras back or something."chipper turns around and says "follow me Don I'll explain on the way."as Don began to follow his friend he knew that whatever this was it was pretty bad if Cipper who always called him Donnie just called him Don.
