I mean, in fairness, you're basically dooming yourself if you have high hopes for any fandom. They'll always have a darker side with aggressive fans who are less than happy with the direction a franchise is taking. And civil discussion? Kinda unlikely internet-wise.

The thing is, i know that. But i kinda like it here and it's most of the time very civilized here. But then i see stuff like that here and i am reminded of that bad part again, which i don't see here often.

i am sick and tired of people coming into stuff with laundry lists of expectations and then saying "THIS DIDNT GIVE ME WHAT I WQNT THEREFORE ITS BAD". Its pastel colored horses, not the ark of the bucking covenant.

people -especially reviewers- should stop expecting the holy grail of cartoons every time Hasbro makes a new episode.

While I do hope Spike's in Once Upon A Zeppelin, it would take multitudes more than just his absence for me to start screaming, "RU1N3D F0R3V3R!"

I'm so glad to see that others share my sentiment. 

Look, I get it, Lauren Faust promised and delivered on a show geared towards little girls that also had appeal to all demographics, and perhaps the first two seasons promised a considerable amount more.  However, what gets my goat is people who continue to watch the show yet make a big deal about how terrible it is.  I know someone who could go on and on for hours about how Celestia is actually an evil tyrant for "forcing" other ponies to think like her and that Chrysalis is the most relatable and moralistic character in the show, and it gets downright frustrating sometimes that he refuses to accept that this is just a kid's show based in a colorful utopia where black is black and white is white with very few shades of grey in between.

Not every kids' show can have the same impact as Gravity Falls or Steven Universe, and the sooner people accept this and move on, the better.

Differing opinions? On a fan forum. Oh my Lord what ever will we do? 

One cannot control how another enjoys entertainment, but they generally have have control of their reaction. 

Honestly ... both the people who scream about things they don't like and those that scream about the ones that scream are exactly the same to me. Someone else's take on something I like has literally no impact on how I much I enjoy a property. Sometimes I share the opinion, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I understand, sometimes I don't. 

My own council will I keep on what I like or not. In the interim, I'll have fun with pointing out odd comments, as well as the absurdity of suggesting that one side is somehow taking the high road -- while not realizing that it is as imaginary as Equestria itself. 

Basically, I may disagree with someone who relies too much on one character for enjoyment, but who the hell am I to suggest they aren't as good of a fan as I am. That would make me a dick, wouldn't it?

I can handle differing opinions, I can't handle people who present opinions as fact.

I hear this statement a lot, and I often wonder if the person making it doesn't quite understand colloquial conversation. Which vernacular, sentence structure, and phrasing eliminates the assumption of implied opinion? 

If I said "Man Rarity is going to suck next season", would it not be reasonable for a respondent to assume that that statement is an opinion, or have we gotten to the point that we fear we can't tell the difference? 

I'm not trying to defend conflation and  or anything, but it can be a silly argument since it basically works as saying that the reader isn't smart enough to tell the difference. 

That doesn't stop me from writing a personal ending for the series in case the S7 finale lets me down right? (the Movie is everything I wanted but.... it isn't part of the main canon sadly...)

The "it's just a kids' show" argument IMO shouldn't be a major factor in how you should enjoy a show, but it should be in the back of your mind. MLP isn't Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, but it isn't Fanboy and Chum-Chum or Dora the Explorer either.

Saying someone should only enjoy or view the show your way makes you a douche because you're trying to force people to view things from your perspective.

That statement ties more into how people think that their opinion is the only right opinion, and everyone else is wrong. Seeing your opinion as fact means that you see your opinion as the only correct opinion. Though that's just my opinion.

No. Fan-fiction is all about creating scenarios that didn't, couldn't, or hasn't happened in the show yet.

It doesn't bother me much. Sure, there are people who think they are better than the writers entirely, but some episodes could have been written so much better in hindsight. Ddeosn't change anything, but people are allowed to express that viewpoint.

It is just opinions and discussions on a forum that doesn't have a whole lot of impact on the show. 

Opinions are nothing to get worked up about, unless the people posting those opinions are aggressive towards those who don't have that opinion, then that's hate speech but without any actual slurs.

im so gald someone said it xD i mean how can u watch a show about friendship, love and acceptance like this, call yourself a fan of said show, then make it your life's mission to hate on the show and nitpick it to death, not to mention how these people treat others with opinions contrary to their own. i find it very counter-intuitive.
