for some reason these twilicorn topics have reminded me greatly of religious topics on other forums that i've seen (well before fim was a concept). one side refuses to accept logic, regardless how frequently and well it is presented... both groups always had an a-hole or two minimum by default, but there was always one of the two groups with a leading majority. as for my opinion on this matter, i fully support princess twilight, and have (admittedly guarded) hope that the writers will take this to the heights of its potential, witch is very high indeed. even though i must confess a small fear that this could crash horribly, but to me that crash would be undoing the change, retcons suck nards. and finally i'll go ahead and throw in my opinion on the finale. i've already watched it a buttload of times, and still every time i hear celestia's ballad, and then see twilight reveal her wings i become a giggling idiot for five minutes or so. i LOVED the finale episode! did it feel rushed, yeah. however i do not feel there was a lack of dialogue, just that much of it was sung instead of said, fine by me. i see the abundance of music in the season finale as a gift to us bronies, it's remix fodder. they knew that we'd be antsy over an extended gap between seasons, and so gave us this fabulous gift to tide us over. now my thoughts on why at least a portion of people are anti-twilicorn. change has to do with it, but also we have a lot of people assuming a lot of things about twilight and her abilities along with alicorns and their abilities. it seems, to me, that many of the anti-twilicorn camp seem to have a preference for "head-canon" over actual canon. then there is the catalogue of fanfics that this change makes invalid and renders them as solidly outside of the canonical story. so i am going to go with a diagnoses of butt-hurt.

ok, i don't get much news, normally finding out about stuff well after everyone else. i just found out about this twilight alicorn thing yesterday morning, just as a snippet of info about the episode. my first thought was "frickin awesome! twilight as an alicorn will kick soo much ass!" then a few hours later i find out so many people are like "the show is over and so is my liiife!!!" um, really? now, i will admit that i am wary of what could come of this, but i seriously doubt it'll be anywhere near as bad as everyone's making it out to be. the one thing that would piss me off would be if they do it with and end-of-episode retcon. i hate that kind of writing, it always feels cheap and sleazy, and leaves the story unchanged making the entire experience worthless and a waste of time. in short, i support princess twilight, and can't wait to see the new episode and where the show goes from there. provided they don't pull a cheap retcon.

i'm all for a con in texas, kinda sucks hearing about all these cons elsewhere and getting no local love. maybe just a board for meetup listings would be in order, would be low traffic, but would make for more efficient organization of meetups and such

lol nice, about a month ago or so i went and got 3 blind bags along with 2 six packs of beer. don't sound like much, easy to explain as going to my bro's and got those for his kid or whatever, well i have a beard on par with zz top, a welding cap, and a classic brony shirt which is mostly obstructed by the beard. the clerk gives a quick curious glance at me when he puts the toys into the bag with one of the six packs, so with my left hand i move my beard aside and indicate the large RD logo and "BRONY" with my right. now he has to speak, "huh?" "i'm a fan of the show," i say somewhat flattly, almost unable to keep a wide grin off my face. he looks back at the toys "ya mean you watch my little pony?!?" in a way that also says "i haven't heard about this" so i simply say "yup. check it out sometime." left with 3 ponies, 12 beers and a belly full of "wtf's" lol
