  1. I adore every generation, including G3. I know the background looks really surgary compared to the other gens, but I barely even notice that anymore. When I watch G3, I see an adorable show with likeable characters, with distinct, relatable personalities - many of which would fit into FIM storylines with a bit more to it, but sometimes it's just as awesome on it's own. It's a very heart-warming show for me. I tend to notice the simularities between FIM and the past Gens more than the differences, there's a lot more than newcomers seem to realize. While G1 gave the most direct inspiration to FIM (because the creator was a fan of it) it's obvious she and the other writers looked to G3 for inspiration in places, if only just to appeal to the G3 fans. Some scenes and lines are clearly inspired by G3, and two characters (hint; they're in my avatar) were transported almost directly to FIM - true they were made younger, and went through some changes, but they don't seem that different ultimately. So no, you're not the only one who likes G3. I have a friend who likes it as well as me.
  2. I'm personally neuatral on the whole thing. The only problem I had with it was that it wasn't planned from the begining (by the original writers). I think that Twilight being a princess was though, but it was probably meant to be much later on. I don't mind if she stays an alicorn, I don't mind if she goes back to being a unicorn. The only thing I dread if the latter comes true is that the ones who keep threatening Hasbro to change her back (assuming they are actually doing this, and not just talking about it) will keep claiming they did it...
  3. I don't mind them either, in fact I love the old gens. Even though I find G3.5 (which is not the same as the adorable G3) to be the weakest of the gens that I like, I still find it entertaining. It's something I watch when I just want a quick pony fix, it's cute in it's own way, just simplistic compared to the others.
  4. It's a bit tough to say how and why I ended up with Fluttershy, as my favorite pony, other than the fact that I'm a sucker for cute things. I had already watched one episode, without her in it and loved it, and was debating with myself whether to watch any more. I was looking at clips and saw a load of Fluttershy ones, and I just thought she was really adorable, so when I finally started watching for real (in order of episodes) I already kind of liked her, but she became a character I just really cared about for some reason - as strange as it may sound, she's someone I'd look after if she was real. My second favorite is Rainbow Dash, and it's even stranger how this happened (warning; shipping involved). For some reason, the more I looked at fan material, and the more I looked at how the characters behaved during most episodes, the more adorable Flutterdash appeared in my mind. Please keep calm if you hate shipping; it is non-canon, and I even alternate between shipping and friendshipping with them. I always kind of found her cool in general, but the fact I had started shipping her with somepony made me automatically look for the nicer side to her character (I still realize it's not canon!) I looked at episodes like "Sonic Rainboom", and "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" which showed a much nicer side to her in some scenes, and episodes like "Sonic Rainboom" (again) and "The Mysterious Mare Do Well" showed her in a really relatable light - her arrogance was no longer something to hate about her, it was a flaw to understand about her character, and to make her relatable (I could go on much longer about her best episodes in my mind - the ones that make her more "real"). Also, once MLD happened I was relating to her even more - it's really tough to tell how this happened. Basically, I didn't have a second favorite pony for ages - just a favorite pony, and a favorite shipping for that pony. The CMC are my third favorites (because I just can't choose between them!) partly because the first episode I watched was "The Show Stoppers" (an episode I'll always have a spot for), but also because I find their storyline really relatable; when I was a child I always questioned what my purpose in life was, and what I was meant to do in the world. I would have loved for the CMC to have been around when I was young, it would have been a very relatable storyline for me - that's one of the reasons I'm fascinated with cutie marks in general, it's a storyline I want to explore. If that was too long, I apologise - I tend to type a lot when I'm passionate on the subject.
  5. Really, that's awesome. I'm afraid I only mentioned MLD, but I think I know how I confused you; I said "my favorite fanfiction" when describing MLD, and I then mentioned "my second favorite pony" - did you missread that as "my second favorite fanfiction", I appologise if you did.
  6. Hi, thanks for adding me, I appreciate it. /)

      You're very welcome. :)

  7. You're welcome. I only mentioned one story, and if you're interested it's called My Little Dashie. I appologise to all haters for mentioning it, but there's just something about it I really love...
  8. I think that it's a pretty big "maybe" if he should or should not appear. I love G1, and can see that it (and the other MLPs) had a lot of influance on FIM (I personally view FIM as the combination of all past gens with it's own flaire). Tirek even being from an episode that I actually liked better than FIM. However, there is a chance that an FIM Tirek might be better suited to fanfiction providing it can do him justice. I'm all for crossing over generations as long as it makes sense, and doesn't out right attempt to make the one gen look bad (like those YouTube videos of the FIM cast reacting badly to their pre-FIM selves.
  9. From one new member and MLP to another, I welcome you. I hope you have an awesome time here. /)
  10. I know that HIE is Humans in Equestria, but is POE Ponies on Earth? I have yet to read a Humans in Equestria fanfiction, but I'm sure that if they are written well, and approached with an open mind they can be good. The 80s TV series actually did have humans in sometimes, and I personally thought they worked up until a point. My favorite fanfiction is a Pony on Earth one - my second favorite pony is sent to Earth (she's also made younger) and looked after by a human. I'm sure it's a hated fanfiction, but I adore it.
  11. Thank you, for the welcome. I aprieciate it, and hope to have a good time here /) Note: Sometimes I tend to suck at starting conversations.
  12. Hello everyone (everybrony?) I am here to introduce myself to this forum, where I hope to engage in some interesting discussions about one of my favorite shows ever. I pride myself on being pretty open minded, so I hope I come across as that. I love this show, and the fandom - I am also a fan of the previous generations (just a warning.) I hope that the people of this forum are okay with me joining, and I create the right impression.
