  1. Ah, it's good to see that the waifu thief makes his debut for the EQG rocks movie.

  2. Warhammer 40k here representing.
  3. Finished watching 'Boast Busters', I would like to ask what you guys thought about Twilight's behavior in the episode? Personally, I felt Twilight's conflict was forced in the episode.

She got her job done effectively, though, I will admit, which, is always good for someone in that role.

  4. As a lifelong nintendo gamer, I'm more than happy for their return to the core audience.
  5. Nostalgia goggles. That's a good point. Honestly the more and more I'm reading from this topic, the more I'm thinking that Pinkie Pie's behavior in the 'Filli Vanilli' wasn't so bad after all. Especially since the episode actively punished Pinkie Pie for it, something 'Griffon the Brush Off' never did for a more subtle but similar behavior from her.
  6. Not to mention, this isn't the first time Pinkie Pie acted like a jerk if what I found in my review for 'Griffon the Brush Off' can be used. Also, I was more upset at how she caused Big Mac to lose his voice then her behavior towards Fluttershy anyway.
  7. http://mlpforums.com/blog/1500/entry-12975-fim-griffon-the-brush-off-episode-review/ Another day, another review is up. Please come and discuss as I have a couple of questions I wish an audience to discuss with me.
  8. I would say it has in my case, even turning me one into a critic myself. However, I do believe that the best opinion for each individual should be reserved to what fits to their taste. Sure I and others may explain in detail for why we like or dislike something, but we are expressing what we believe is good or bad through what we find it as such. It maybe an informed opinion backed with sound evidence to support our beliefs, but we are limited for what we know or find to be good or bad and our just one person usually. A person, such as what Shimmer5000 did today bringing up a great point about Fluttershy and her assertiveness, can find a unique view and convince a whole slew people to think up a flaw alot more differently then what a critic has shown. It's thought provoking discussions like those I enjoy. This is why I strongly encourage people to not take one person's opinion as the end all be all of an episode and instead look up multiple reviews to find what they like and didn't like or even watch it yourself for who knows, you may end up liking or find something that a critic may not have noticed that can make an episode better or worse.

  10. She said that Nightmare Moon was her jealousy taken over her. Heck she even remarked that Luna can return to being Nightmare Moon again if she allows her jealousy to consume her. It was stated in her Q&A when she visited /mlp/. That's the issue, she only made the mistake of letting temptation of power to make that terrible decision, the rest was made by the daemon in her name. Before Luna was responsible for everything that happened when she became Nightmare Moon, now she's only at fault for letting a daemon tempt her, which is still terrible but I can see the angle the writer was trying to do with Luna, making her actions more permissible.
  11. You see it as naivety, I see it as the comic writer trying to excuse Luna's behavior by essentially trying to coddle her character by writing away her terrible actions as committed by another. Sorry it also reduces the effect of Luna's redemption because she only has to feel sorry about allowing a daemon to control her essentially. I'd rather see her redemption done where she knows what she alone tried to do against her own sister Celestia and the ponies of Equestria as evil and wrong and it makes her a much stronger character by realizing of what she tried to do was terrible. The arc mitigates this impact by showing that Luna wasn't the one who was Nightmare Moon but was merely the vessel for the Nightmare forces and they gladly used her body against her will when she realized her terrible mistake. Instead of a character coming to terms with actions she committed, it's rather only for what she allowed.
  12. I agree that people shouldn't be dissuaded to read any comic, but they should also be aware if the comic is most likely worth their money or not. Reviews are there to give a person a clue if said arc is good and a good purchase, or it's bad and may not be worth purchasing it. Other than that, I don't have a full understanding of how good or bad the arc is as I need to read it again, but I recalled not liking it particularly well for these stated reasons.
  13. Holy crap, Pats traded Logan Mankins to the buccaneers

  14. Why am I so biased against Katie Cook. I don't like it and I would like someone to talk to me about it.

  15. That's why I believe I'm giving too much attention to this as it was early in the series, Katie hasn't done an issue that focuses on them, and frankly she hasn't done them a terrible job with them either. I hate it too, but until DHX have Celestia saying she never had a love life, it's canon.
  16. The comics consider themselves as and are part of the series canon so why should I not judge it so. True, especially in the earlier parts of the series, but they're now trying to develop the CMC to be more than that if their individual episodes and Twilight Time have anything to say about it. It's simply a point I've found with how the CMC behave under Katie's writing as I'm agreeing a point with Caleb. However, this can also be my dislike for Katie Cook acting up so I'm probably being too harsh on her when others have done it and she hasn't taken a real crack at writing them either. I'm the lead hater for the reflections arc. The biggest reason why it's hard to understand was because the story was poorly thought out in the simplest explanation. For more reasons, I have multiple reviews of it in my comic review blog.
  17. But dumb enough to actually not take the fact they're being held prisoner by the same Queen who just recently tried to take over Equestria and killed a creature right in front of them as seriously as they should? I may have been wrong with RD and AJ's behavior in the arc, and I'm probably biased against Katie Cook, but this isn't the last time we see the CMC's being too single minded about their cutie mark quest as we see it in the Big Mac and the FF# 8 arc.
  18. I read it up, and it seems you're correct as I didn't found RD really ooc with her anger at that scene, heck she seemed more anxious about heading to the castle more than anything. I'm sorry for my mistake.
  19. I need to read up on the Return of Queen Chrysalis arc some time again, but isn't Rainbow Dash one of the few ponies who enjoys Pinkie Pie's antics? Heck she's sometimes her partner in crime.
  20. No problem and thank you for your compliment. Yea, let's put it like this with the Reflections arc, you thought Meghan Mccarthy was bad at writing romance between characters like Twilight with Flash, Katie's romance with Celestia and AU Sombra made Mccarthy's romance writings look awesome in comparison. Don't read it or be prepared to rage at how bad that arc is. I haven't been into reading fanfics so I'm not a good source on that.
  21. To point out, Rainbow Dash and Applejack are two of the weakest characters for Katie Cook as she either makes them one note caricatures or makes them grumpy and angry because they're tomboys. Her portrayal of AJ in the latest Friends Forever was her best portrayal of AJ because AJ actually had a reason to be upset at Rarity's behavior and how urgent she needed to go to their destination and she actually had AJ be more than simply angry at Rarity when she had her and AJ have fun for a bit. As for Twilight, well I didn't like of how Twilight managed to beat Chrysalis thanks to a power boost when her far more powerful teacher couldn't do so. Other than that, her little subplot in Reflections was one of the few things I liked about that terrible arc as no other character portrayals were anywhere near as terrible as what Katie did to Celestia in that arc. CMC's that I can whole heartily agree to, in fact she seems to show them off as simply one note 'find our cutie mark' gags rather than characters whenever she writes them. Your reasons along with others I've read has lead me to believe Katie's biggest weakness as a MLP writer is that she's not that good when it comes to writing characterization for characters in the show, save perhaps Pinkie Pie, course that could be because Pinkie Pie represents Kaitie's strongest suit as a writer, her humor, so it would be obvious she would bond with Pinkie Pie the best out of all the characters.
  22. Alright, that's good to hear another comic reader. I only need a couple more months to meet my year anniversary and I have less post counts than you I'm rather impressed actually.
