  1. @@Wolfe

I just had a thought; how will we be tracking the passage of time in this RP? I noticed you explicitly state that it's 7pm in your opening post. When everypony starts going about their day to day business alone or in smaller groups, will the timeline be a free-for-all, or would it be a good idea for you to occasionally give us a date and time which the rest of us need to abide by? (Even just vague things, like morning, midday, afternoon, evening, small hours.)

It's very possible that we could end up with a RP where every micro group has a different idea of what time of day it is. One person's post may reference it being sunset, while the very next one is claiming it's midday. It would present problems if you wanted to corral everyone into a group event, or even back into The Brew.

I kinda like the idea that when you say it's afternoon, it's now afternoon and the rest of us need to time-skip accordingly. (Of course, a single day could last pages and pages of posts, it just depends on what everyone's plotlines are doing.)

I put 7PM to just have a point of reference in terms of time. It was also a way to signify to other players that despite The Brew's hours being 8PM-4AM, it was a special event, but I believe my initial post made that point already.

As for assigning time frames, I kinda thought it would be free form and let everyone roll out how they wanted to, minding themselves as to when everyone is, so as to speed themselves up to another character's point or delaying themselves to allow some others to catch up. However, I do like the idea of setting vague time points to let others know when is when, but I'd like everyone's opinion on it first. I don't want to institute something if the majority may not like the idea.

So what do you guys feel like acting on? Free-form time where you play out as you like, or setting a time when it's morning/midday/afternoon/evening/night/late-night/early-morning?

  2. Java had already acquainted himself into his station, already getting orders and combos left and right. His hooves pulled out bags of beans, ready to be blended in the machines laid out for him. He never got as many orders as a typical night, but it was fun every time. The strong smell escapes the bag as a hoof dives in to scoop some beans. They dive down into the grinder, where a whirring speeds up. Solids become powder as the blades slice-and-dice the beans into a better ingredient to be used. Java gets the brewers ready with water and flavorings over on the side.

There is a bit of a step as he moves about, tapping a hoof on a particular beat or trumpet that pierces his ear drums. Java's head bobs up and down with the sound of his father's band playing in the background, setting a moment in motion for this piece of history for The Brew. His ear also catches one voice that calls to him, one that tips his ears up and away from the preparing coffee.

    @@Scribblegroove,

He turns his head away from the brewers and notices Scribblegroove calling out to him. “Oh, thanks a bunch, Scribbs. You don’t mind me calling you that, do ya? And yeah, I’d love to see this place go on for as long as it can. Heck, maybe even longer than me.” Java’s tone sounds very laidback and friendly, just as he always it toward others. He gives a single chuckle to himself. “And naw, it’s fine coming early. Besides, there’s a lot of fun to be had tonight, especially for a Jazz player like yourself.

He turned a quick eye back to his station, making sure nothing burned or spilled over while replying to Scribblegroove. He replaced one bag of beans for another, starting up another process for another order all over. While he did his thing, Scribble asked him about The Brew’s set up. He responded as he kept his eyes and hooves preoccupied with his procedure.

Well, when I first got this place, it wasn’t exactly a done-deal. The place was empty, but needed renovations to accommodate what was needed. A wall being opened up here, a wall being put up there, and the place would be as fit as a fiddle. Mind you, my ol’ pop gave me some… architectural advice for set-up.” He looked up giving a small chuckle and smile right at Scribble. “Since he was typically traveling, dad noticed what was good and bad about certain venues. Things likewalls reflecting the sound’ or ‘ambient lighting setting the mood.Took a lot of it to heart, and to be honest, it made sense as a pony who listens to Jazz and Smooth Jazz a lot.

He pointed up above him on a nearby wall, noting an end of a gramophone sticking out of it, but not the portion containing the record. “That’s one of the speakers for this gramophone system someone installed for us. My pop knew a guy in the audio business and pulled some strings to get this system in here. I don’t know how exactly it works, but we’ve got the gramophone out in the back playing our records, but the audio goes through the walls out to every gramophone end in the place. It was another thing my pop knew would be a good thing for the place. Ambient music when there’s no one on stage.

He looks back up toward Scribblegroove after sorting out another pot to burn. “Mind you, the speakers aren’t needed for live performances. Acoustics are good enough on stage to project the sound out to the audience. I’m sure everypony’ll hear you loud, clear, and with a tappin’ tune in their hearts and hooves. Oh, by the way, you want a cup of joe? It’s on the house.” He lifts a clean cup from under the counter to try and goad him on.

  3. Is it ok for me to assume that scribble and java already made a deal about him performing at the anniversary night? Or will he just show up as a surprise?

Yeah. Just assume both have met and discussed his performance time and whatnot. I'm thinking like 9-10PM-ish is when I'd have you perform on stage.

  4. June 21st, Saturday

    7:00 PM

    Central-East Manehattan

    The Brew

    Room for Rent OOC

Typically, The Brew opens at 8PM, but today was a special day. It was a day that many had been anxious for a while. A day that an extra hour would fit everything else needed; an extra hour in which more words could be exchanged; an extra hour to claim photographs and memories. Those lined up outside and on top of the staircase were regulars, famous musicians, poets, comedians, and a blend in-between. Normally, there wouldn’t be a line this big on a typical night for The Brew, but Java Blend knew this was to be expected; he knew he’d have a full house right from the get-go. A smirk was lifted from his muzzle as he rose a smooth cup of joe to his lips from the inside of his club. It was his typical blend to start off the night; one that flowed past his sensing tongue and down his throat, where he felt the warmth embrace his belly immediately.

Hope you’re proud, dad… Couldn’t have done this without you…,” Java mumbled to himself.

He takes a look at his prized establishment with a bubbling heart of glee. Tables and chairs are set up all around to accommodate denizens. They are filed out in varying locations and positions, such that one could get a good view of a live performance, if one preferred to be in a more private area in a darker portion of the club, or maybe something in between. The lit stage with the red hanging curtains would be able to fit a quintet of performers, their instruments, and a bit more. And of course, his own work station, “The Stew.” He made a quick inspection of the immense library of coffee beans stored on its shelves, the grinders prepped for blending the beans, the coffee pots and brewers ready to steam the next smooth cup, and the flavorings to add sweetness, bitterness, creaminess, cinnamoniness, or whatever else intrigues the next pony’s tongue.

With a more firm sound in his voice, he called to his servers, cooks, and other employees. “Mares and Gentlecolts, what a night to be here in The Brew, am I right? I know you’ll be working a bit harder than other nights because of what will be happening. I assure you, just take this as another night and you’ll do fine. However…” he made a soft pause as he took another sip from his trademark white mug. “…enjoy the night for what it has to offer.” He smiled to every single pony in his sight. “Some of you have been here for a short while, some since this place’s inception. In any case, have fun. There’s a lot to experience, and I assure you. This will be an unforgettable night.

He drank the last of his special brew with a smooth gulp and raised the empty mug up to toast his employees and The Brew. Everyone else cheered and raised their hooves. As tradition for Java, he tilted his mug upside down, letting a drop or two escape the brim and trickle to the floor, something he did as a reminder for his father’s memory to this place. With a quick shuffle, he replaced his special mug behind the brewing counter and opened the door to this underground club with a click from the lock. He climbed the stone staircase to reach the sidewalk level to greet everypony that cheered for this event. The small gate blocking entry down the staircase was now breached by Java Blend.

Welcome to the 5th Anniversary of The Brew, everypony.

With that, he extended entry into the prestigious club, spearheading everyone inside to the bean-smelling atmosphere. A jazzy tune immediately plays from the modified gramophone that may be familiar to some of the regulars; a famous tune by Java Blend’s father along with the band he was in, The Jive Five. (Music: Dave Brubeck - Blue Rondo a la Turk)

Is there still room for one more to join in on the fun?

    http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/cross-and-christopher-r5949

    Denied

Your character's personality counters itself (i.e. sweet/kind most times and mean most times. (Being mean and kind at the same time doesn't work. You're one or the other.)) and from what I had searched up on the forums, your posts are filled with a lot of grammatical and spelling errors. So it's not at a level that I can accept. I apologize.

  6. Yeah, the EQE editing thing is somewhat frustrating. I totally understand why it's in place, but there's a few things I'd love to clarify, add or touch up with my characters. It's not easy to do that as it stands. (And I don't want to ask for them to be put back into the unaccepted section just for a few tiny tweaks.)

As a Royal Minstrel of the Crystal Empire, Kay Dreamer still believes it is her duty to travel to every Equestrian city, no matter how strange and new, spreading the lost history and culture of her people through her music. It's taken her a while to work herself up to this particular city; she's been told by many ponies that Manehattan is the largest and most modern of all the modern cities in Equestria. Kay is still very much lost when it comes to the modern world, but she is curious about it. (When she travelled Equestria one thousand years ago, Manehattan didn't even exist.) She's equal parts excited and intimidated by the strange environment around her.

She's staying at a smaller hotel in Manehattan, just off Bridleway and across from Central Park. (I've heard the term Bridleway used for Broadway before, I hope you don't mind it used here?) The hotel owners have agreed that she may stay for free in return for her entertaining the other guests in the evenings. She'll play and sing from about 6pm to 8pm most evenings, while her days remain free to explore and perform elsewhere in the city. (She fetches a fair few bits busking in Central Park, though she usually ventures further. There's so much she wants to see and experience.)

Also, Kay Dreamer avoids trains like the plague unless there's absolutely no other way to get somewhere. She much prefers to walk. She can handle the open air rail cars though, because they're slower and there's a nice breeze. (Rather ironic, since she's basically my ponysona and I love trains; but hey, trains didn't exist 1000 years ago. Stands to reason she'd get motion sickness from them!)

I love the image you chose for the railcars, by the way. A lot of people don't seem to notice how the technology and architecture of MLP mostly reflect a 1920's kind of era. (Hell, Flim and Flam just ooze it.) The 20's are one of my favourite historical eras, and that railcar is just perfect.

I don't mind Bridleway. Remember this is New Mane City and not New York City. It totally uses MLP's versions of things, so I recommend everyone go wild with pony names for places all around! If anything, I'll make a list of established locations in the OOC so everyone knows what has been named/labeled for ease of access.

As for the railcars, thank you! When I was in my brainstorming phase, I had to think of a way to transform New York's modern setting into an older styled MLP setting, that is, the way the show portrays its technology and advancements. A lot of though was going into what subways and buses would be like where technology was limited BUT magic was MAXIMIZED. The railcars have the old 1920s style, like you said, but they have the magically-conductive bottom rail, so there's a means of it moving about.

As for the trains, I didn't want coal because of the smog/pollution it would create, especially in an underground tunnel. That'd be horrible. I opted for steam trains because water and it sounds more healthier for the environment. What I hadn't mentioned was that one idea I had for the tunnels and train stations was that they would be lit by varying sizes of glowing gemstones and the sort. Candles would eventually burn out and it'd be a nightmare for a pony to relight every candle. ESPECIALLY with wizzing trains passing by.

Even the MetroCards had to be thought about for some time. I thought that the black strip of a MetroCard (As inspired by NY's MetroCard: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/29/NYC_MetroCard_cropped.jpg) would have magical properites such that unicorns charging such cards could empower them and would have a varying effect. As explained on the first page, the strip can hold all 3 charges, but it's more stable with the orange than it is with blue or green, sorta like a half-life of a chemical. The strip and orange charge are perfect matches, but the blue and green can still be held, albeit with varying decays.

I thought a lot to keep this within the realm of what could hypothetically work within the MLPverse. @_@

I definitely like the idea of having a 'home base' kind of thing with the cafe. They can plan other excursions from there.

Kay's performances at the hotel she's staying at would mean she'd show up at the cafe around 9:30/10pm. (At least I'm in the right borough to get there reasonably quickly.) @@Wolfe, I don't know the layout of New York City; how far away would the location of Java's club be from Broadway/Central park?

    @@Scribblegroove,

Sounds good to me! I'll swing you a message when I get home this arvo.

Funny thing was I originally thought of having the RP solely within The Brew, but some people I talked to thought it was very limiting, and I got the idea of expanding it to all 5 boroughs of New York, but in a MLP setting, of course. You can probably look at New York City/New Mane City with the same geographical layout, but as for streets, I'm letting everyone take creative control in what street they'd like to be, where their job is, what some specific names for places/jobs/businesses/etc are.

In terms of Manehattan's place, The Brew is probably in central Manehattan, east side, near the riverside. That'd be a few blocks away from the center east side of Central Park. There's a park nearby in Manhattan named Carl Schurz Park, but for story purposes, I'll have that listed as a cemetery; the cemetery where Java Blend's father is buried. So The Brew will be a few blocks from the cemetery.

  8. @@Wolfe,

I understand, my spelling and grammar wasn't always good but I am getting better.  I think RPing helps me with it. And how about I set hi works hours to 7 to 9. And he lives in a small apartment above the shop. But he like to spend time outside to take in the sights, so he might run into other OCs and whatnot.

7AM to 9PM? Just want to get some clarification on that.

Scribblegroove is currently in Manehatten for a few weeks, getting some serious private training from a great old gryphon pianist called Bentwing Zephner every other day. However, from the late afternoon to the evening and both in fridays and weekends he is free from studies. In these times he goes around town to see what kind of amazing town Manehatten actually is.

I'm not sure, but he could be one of the muscisians that regulary plays in Java for only these few weeks...

It would allow me and Scarlet to meet up again :D ( @,  C:<)

I don't know how famous he is allowed to be, but if there is no limit:

He is fairly known in Canterlot itself. He does concerts in the Canterlot conservatory regulary and lots of ponies come to those performances (mostly because they are cheap). Outside of it he has a few fans, and he is sometimes mentioned in local newspapers' advertisements when he is in town. However, he is not world famous in the slightest. Not many ponies listen Jazz that much anyway. The ones that do listen to jazz fanatically would recognize him, but that's it. (your character Java Blend would know him)

    just a suggestion

You forgot to link your character, but if it's this one that I had to do some searching for: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/scribblegroove-r5437, then...

That sounds like a good idea. I've got something I could work as for some event. As for the info about Scribble, all of that seems fine and dandy. I can work with it! Java would probably know Scribble through Bentwing Zephner though.

In contrast, I too have a character called Scribe, who is absolutely addicted to the stuff...

    It's a strange world. :P

Anywho! I think that Scribbles idea works pretty well: the coffee place could be a kind of focal point of the RP - a central theme where folks can meet and so on until they better establish themselves.

    Sounds like a plan then!

    Okay, here we go: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/missy-starlight-rfr-rp-r6636

Just tell me any details I may have missed out and I'll add them in, and i was in the RP, The Trotting Dead, so that should give you all you need to know about my commitment to an RP.

Well, after searching through the forums and finding The Trotting Dead (2 instances that you were in it), it isn't necessarily commitment I'm looking for, though I am hoping for commitment from people. It's more in the quality of people's posts that I'm looking for. Your character sheet is very barren of details, so with what I've seen, I'm unfortunately going to have to deny you from entry into this RP. It's nothing personal; just need people who can show a level of quality, detail, and breadth in their posts.

  9. Not a problem with me! Just... yeah, apologies in advance for her behaviour. :o

As for editing her profile, I'll see what I can do when I'm at a computer - its a nightmare from my phone.

If anything, I can have a separate list on the OOC of everyone's jobs, a small desc, and where they live just so it's not much trouble. I haven't done much in the RP department on the site in a while, but I've been working on this RP for some time. So figuring about the EQW thing is something different.

Oh dear lord, it has taken me 4 different devices, a mother, turning the Internet on and off again for 2 hours, and a whole lot of bollocking stress to just get here on my iPod.

I would like to enter this rp, I have an entire post written up with all the details, which I may have to get a friend of mine to post for me. But it has taken me quite the great effort to get here, and hopefully next time I'll be able to catch the damn Internet at the right time.

hello Random people i am a friend of rascals and she personally asked me to post this since she's having technical difficulties at the moment mlp forums at the moment.

Oh, seeing the first couple of posts in this thread definatly made me smile.

I would love to join in with this Slice of life with Time Scribe, who lives here.
A couple of rps with this fella of mine would here, here and here. Though some more rps that I'm a little more proud of are here and here.

For certain reasons, that the forum is stopping me, I can't put anything into the other section. But I'll add it here anyway.

Time Scribe works as a Journalist, while trying to strive to finish writing and publish his first ever novel, and possibly short story series. He moved from Canterlot to the big city of Manehatten, though of course most of his work is in Bucklyn.
He mainly works as a freelance journalist for the Manes Daily, but he also works as a representative for the Canterlot Daily, in which he plays a major role. Things are booming in Manehatten, so it was natural to send one of the Canterlot Daily's best to get the best scoop possible. He does the large and big news for the Canterlot daily, along with a small article where he just showcases interviews with important members of the community. While for the Manes he does freelance and help around the place.
He get's paid quite well, working for both newspapers and being a better paying job in the Canterlot Daily.
For a typical work day, Time would mainly explore the city to find new things to write about, go talk to other ponies and the like, understand the city better, and mainly just collects information to use later. He would then go home, relax and enjoy the small things, and then go to writing up either drafts for his articles in the two newspapers, or contuine writing on his novel.
On some days, he actually goes to the Manes Daily building and do work in there, mainly typing stuff up for the paper and doing other small paper work.

I hope I can be accepted, I loved being with ya in that Shifted rp, and I'm glad that I'm all better now to rp with you again.

Seeing that a number of people have characters that are from the EQW section, I'm just gonna make a small section on the OOC instead. I'm just gonna need to pool everyone's info. If I knew about this EQW thing sooner, I might have done something else about it.

Also, SCRIBE DOESN'T LIKE COFFEE? CONSEQUENCES, YOUNG MAN.

If you'll let me I'd like to give this a try with my OC Rag Stitch. And if you say yes I'd like to put him in Bucklyn.

His job will be working in a small thrift shop where he stitches up old clothing and such. His shift is from 3:24 AM to 9:00 PM.

That's over 18 hours a day! Counting 5 hours of sleep and then travel time... he doesn't got out much, does he? XD

    @,

Yep. He's a little like Fluttershy. But he has Fridays and weekends off.

18 hours does seem like a lot in a day, even with breaks in the day. I would suggest shortening that up. If you're stuck in the shop all day, you won't really be interacting with other players in the RP. You'll be typically in the shop, going to sleep, and then repeating the steps for the week until Friday and the weekend, at least from a hypothetical standpoint. That's half the week in boredom RPing w/ yourself. Again, this is just a guess of mine and I only suggest shortening it to some 8 or 10 hour work day or however you see fit, not demanding a change.

I'm also stiff iffy on your application. I feel the writing can use some improvement, whether it's in terms of grammar/spelling or in detail expansion.

Also, a question to everyone, since we're getting closer to the start of this RP. Would you guys prefer the RP to start with some big event to allow all your characters to meet up somehow, like a carnival or a New York Marathon-esque kinda thing, or something similar? Or would you prefer to start wherever/however you please?

  10. I'm intrigued... I'm not 100% sure how such a broad scope will pan out, but I'm intrigued nevertheless. (An advanced canon roleplay in the regular half of the forums? Hallelujah! Don't let the naysayers get you down, you've pulled in few really great role players already.)

I'll give this a shot with Kay Dreamer. She's an itinerant; I'll probably have her stay in Manehattan for now, as she's technically a tourist wherever she goes. She'll be busking by day, pulling in enough bits to get her here and there to explore. I'd expect she probably has an arrangement with her accommodation as well; she plays in the hotel lounge by night in return for her room. She wouldn't be able to afford it, otherwise.

    Her bio is here: http://mlpforums.com/page/eqw-characters/_/approved/kay-dreamer-r161

    Accepted!

I'll be sure to add your name to the list! Just add the details to Other Section as needed!

A broad scope is fine, so long as players have some initiative. It usually fails because folks are scared to RP in a situation where they aren't being interacted with.

If Scarlet served some coffee and locked up the shop for example, I'd probably be making the next 3 - 4 posts without any interaction as she went home and stuff. That doesn't bother me, but a lot of folks just give up and stop posting in that situation.

Yeah. The broad scope can be a bit of a challenge, but I did want to allow players to paint the landscape of New Mane City by leaving it open. There are the 5 boroughs, sure, but it's up to the players to dictate that there is something within that borough worth of interest, whether it's a shop, a business, a park, a recurring event, a landmark, and many more that could be thought and acted upon. I also like the broad aspect because a limited area can be constricting as well in certain lights.

The only things I thought to make concrete were the 5 boroughs, what each is famous for (again, not mandatory to have X job in X borough) and the transport system to mimic something like New York's transit system, since I'm a New Yorker myself. (Also I like numbers so I wanted to list prices for MetroCards which seem reasonable and offer incentive for longer length cards, but also allowing players to legitimize purchasing a certain MetroCard over another if they know their character may travel a lot or not much out of their borough.)

  11. @@Wolfe,

Can I join with Cassidy? Sure, his page looks like trash, but I think I'd like this...

    Of course, it's your discretion.

Well, the page is really lacking in details, specifically with where he's living, where/what his job is, and other details that may be useful for this RP.

If you can add those things, to the Other Section, I'd be happy to take another look. I'll just put a little reserved mark on the list for you.

Well I for one appreciate that someone is looking at doing a SoL that doesn't simply include a bunch of one line posts: I'd gladly join.

Here's my character, Scarlet. Scribble will probably recall her being an absolute %*#!, but she's the one best suited to this type of setting. I've not had much chance to develop her, hence the somewhat short character page.

    http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/scarlet-rose-r6189

She would be living in Bucklyn... and looking at your characters Bio, possibly working for Java, serving coffee?

I just need you to add the details of job description in the Other Section. You can put some separate label saying it's for this RP if you obviously plan to use that character for other RPs.

    @

I'm going to play someone who can be worse than Scarlet though :3

I'm going to take a while to create this new character though. I'll try to have it done tomorrow...

Can't wait to see what you come up with Scribble! I'll put a reserved spot on the list for you!

  12. @@Wolfe,

Seriously. You really don't need that much for an RP. You really just need the OC bio.

And that really offended me. No joke. '

And also, it's not really a slice of life if you're putting so much limits on ponies like having a set ammount of bits and making ponies have to pay for certain services.

I mean, if you read, you would have known, so sorry.

And it does matter. This is an advanced RP which has rules and such. So if you don't want to follow such rules, then you my find another roleplay. I'm not trying to offend, but this is my roleplay and I'd like to see it with some requisites.

  13. New Mane City: the city that never sleeps. Something’s always moving, always talking, always eating, always planning, always working on something. It’s a city of progress and growth; always trying to find something new and innovative to move forward and to get better. A city of quirks; offering the odd and out of the ordinary to keep from going in a rut, or to just appeal to everypony’s tastes. A city of liveliness; the place where you’ll never find yourself alone on a city block.

You must know where you stand, right? You’re here in the city, so you gotta feel happy right? Maybe you’re not quite there yet? Or maybe you’re trying to make something for yourself in this big metropolis? Or how about making your name known to everyone else in the grand scheme of things? Well, this is New Mane City. It’s a tough place and putting in your work is only part of the battle. Your 100% ain’t exactly guaranteeing anything.

What about friends and family? Got a lot of em? Maybe just a few? C’mon, this is the big city! You’re bound to meet tons of ponies. Some go on jogs, some to the park, some live the nightclub life, some live the indoor life, and maybe that’s your cup of coffee right there. All I’m saying is you ain’t getting far without some friends backing you up.

And where do you hail from? You part of Manehattan? Where business and fashion are as standard as peanut butter and jelly? How about The Bronc? Strong place that’s got its ears in all kinds of music. There’s also Preens if you’re interested in meeting tons of ponies, griffons, buffalo, zebras, and maybe a few more that I might have never heard of. You also got Bucklyn down south. Place is so filled with art and culture that it can donate a stable ton of works to fill Canterlot’s museums three times over! And don’t get me started on Stallion Island. Resorts, casinos, amusement parks, and a ton of other tourist attractions to get everypony’s smile on.

So what’s your plan? Where ya going? Who are you meeting? What are you gonna do? All your questions will be answered and all your answers will be questioned. It’s New Mane City, baby! Can’t get any more lively than this place. So sit back, relax, and get to work. It’s your life!

    IC Thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/101661-room-for-rent-sol-adv-rp/

Welcome to Room for Rent! An advanced Slice-of-Life Pony RP taking place in the MLPverse’s version of New York City! The 5 boroughs are the main locale for this RP, where the locations described above of New Mane City are all in relation to their actual locations in New York City. There are a number of things to go over in the general workings of New Mane City:

The five boroughs are Manehattan (Manhattan), The Bronc (The Bronx), Bucklyn (Brooklyn), Preens (Queens), and Stallion Island (Staten Island). They are centers of business and fashion, music, culture and art, species diversity and equality, and tourism and luxury locales, respectively. While they are centers of their own specialty, it does not exclusively mean they belong there. One can have a music career, but reside in Preens. It also means one specialty can be found in another borough, but that specialty won’t be as concentrated as the borough it’s known in.

Rail cars are local transports within each borough. They are the equivalent of buses. They won’t travel to other boroughs, but they will get to the edge of one. They have this appearance (http://goo.gl/yrZCv5) but with added/modified space to accommodate ponies. The drivers are unicorns, since they can magically repel the rail in the street with the rail under the car.

Underground steam trains are cross-borough transports. They are the equivalent of subways/metros. They will provide speedy transport to and from the different boroughs, though they also make getting through one borough a lot quicker. And while they are fast, they’re not as flexible in stops; buses can access more locations within a borough than the trains. Drivers and workers are often pegasi and earth ponies since there is more unicorn demand on the rail cars.

Bits can be used to ride the rail cars and steam trains, but a more convenient method is available through MetroCards. They have a magical black bar on the bottom of the card for scanning when getting on either transport. While a ride to get on costs 2 bits, filling up a card in a pay-per-ride charge can hold up to 20 bits in an orange glow over the black bar. The bar depletes on every use. There are also timed charges lasting either one week costing 25 bits and holding a green charge and a one month charge costing 90 bits and holding a blue charge. While the black bar holds the orange charge indefinitely, it can only hold the green and blue charges for one week and one month, respectively. The card must also be fully depleted to use a charge of a different kind. Cards can also be lightly shaken to see how much money or time is left on the card's charge through the glow. Transfers from one train to another, one rail car to another, or a combination of the two, are free within an hour of use of the pay-per-ride charge.

You may submit only 1 character for this RP, but they can reside in any of the 5 boroughs. You are also not limited to position your job in the same borough as where you live. It can easily be in another borough. I also request that you stick with this RP! If you need to take a pause for whatever reason life throws at you, please let me know as soon as possible by either leaving a message here on the OOC thread or PMing me on the forums. There will currently be a post limit in the beginning to see how things run out. You can only post after 2 other players have or 24 hours after your initial post.

Link your characters so I may approve of them to make sure they fit with the RP and are detailed enough. This is not to say your characters will be how I want them, but rather to make sure they are developed for the RP. I also request you provide a link to a prior RP you have taken a part of which doesn’t necessarily have to be with that character. I would like to see how you roleplay which will also take into account whether you may partake in this RP.

Aside from linking your characters, please list in the Other Section which borough he or she resides in and what profession (if any) your character has. Please be as detailed as possible in his/her role, what he or she does in a typical work day, what the business/company/group/band/etc. is, work hours (if applicable), and any other details you think are necessary and/or important.

I am expecting full paragraphed responses. I will not tolerate one-liners or one to two sentence responses.

The following races are allowed: Earth Ponies, Unicorns, Pegasi, Griffons, Donkeys, Mules, Buffalo, and Zebras.

The following races are not allowed: Alicorns, Dragons, Draconequus, and Changelings.

For any other races not listed here, please contact me first to see if it is allowed. I also will not accept any canon characters (even slight variances), only OCs.

This is a world where I do not see guns existing or swords/knives being used to hurt others. That being said, violence is still a thing that can happen, if you so choose to do so. It’s just more in the conventional MLP way, and not the human life way. Romance and sex are also things that can happen, but if you want to roleplay such acts, please direct yourselves to PMs. Alternatively, you and the other party/parties can give us the assumption that a sexual act was made by typing “Fade To Pink,” if you wish to speed through things or whatever reason(s) you may have.

If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns, please leave a message below! I hope this’ll be a fun RP for all of us!

  14. @Arylett Dawnsborough

I'll just put in my bit of criticism about this RP.

When the RP started, I really liked it. It was the fact that it was an RP that I was previously in being rebooted. I was disappointed when the first one ended due to inactivity, I believe. I really wanted to continue it, but factors got in the way. Nothing we could do about it.

What really killed me about continuing the RP was when you made the big quote from Kingdom Hearts. While others saw that as cool, I was really disappointed and frustrated about it. Not only was it a direct quote from the game, which I feel like is lazy in itself, but you kinda stuck yourself into a deeper problem by doing so. By setting up the foreboding scenario with the direct quote, you set yourself up to create a scenario later in the RP that must accomplish on what you directly quoted right now.

If you couldn't come up with something to match on the quote, you'd most likely be quoting AGAIN from Kingdom Hearts. As such, the story isn't your own, but rather a blend of your ideas and Kingdom Hearts plot points. After seeing that quote, I really couldn't post until a week later. Seeing that was such a killjoy for me. I understood you and Klopp are doing that KH 1.5 Remix playthrough, but I thought it was in really poor taste to just relate to it.

I'm not bashing you. I'm just trying to point out a mistake, I believe, that you should be aware of so you don't repeat in future RPs. Like I said initially, this is criticism: "the act of expressing disapproval and of noting the problems or faults of a person or thing." according to Merriam-Webster. I can only recommend having basic original plot points thought out in advance and have the rest a bit free form, since there will be OC player participation which can sway the story left and right. And quoting/referencing from something isn't a bad thing, as long as the world is based on said quote or world the quote comes from, for example, or that you get inspiration or make a simpler idea from said quote.

I wish you the best of luck on your future RP endeavors, Arylett!

  15. What I like about romance is the fact that two people find each other so appealing and so enjoyable with each other that they're willing to spend the rest of their lives together. It's something that I strive to accomplish in my lifetime. I'd love to get married one day and I think I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic. I would love to see myself be with someone whom I liked and eventually loved. Someone who would stand by me, as I would with her. Someone who I could joke around with, play around with, be serious with, and all in between because my girlfriend/fiancee/wife would be my best friend in a sense.

I like to see things pulling through for romances. Where struggle is apparent, but both sides push through for each other, whatever the situation and/or circumstances may be. Marriage, in the long run, isn't about both of your special day or marking the beginning of the rest of your lives together, but it's about your significant other. It's about how this day is special for him/her, moreso for the wife (in a heterosexual relationship), but still important for your spouse regardless if you may value that wedding day more than you think you do than your spouse.

What makes my blood boil and heart pound is when I find someone attractive in personality, interests, and appearance. An amazing trifecta that makes me smile, that makes me curious, and equally makes me nervous. There's only been one person I've asked, but she is currently busy with life stuff, so I'm fine with her decision to not get into a relationship at the moment. Still, a romance is something I'd like to pursue. I'm still looking for someone to embrace. But yeah. That's my take on romance.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TL;DR: I'd want to get married one day with someone who would stay with me as I would with her. I love it when two people stay together through thick and thin and be the bestest of friends. My heat pounts when someone is attractive in personality, interests, and appearance and I am still looking to be in a relationship.

  16. FINALLY GOT A POST IN.

Jeez. Reading through about 4 pages or so of text is looooooong. But that's punishment for me being away for a bit. I wanna say it was worth it, due to how my weekend ended up.

I also apologize if my post is a bit rushed and/or lacking. There's just too much for me to comment on and I'd have to spend a good deal of time trying to cover all the bases. So I could only penny pinch and speedrun through so much to catch myself up. Though since I've caught up to speed, I believe I can get back to having quality posts.
