  1. As someone who doesn't really like "normal" porn and rarely looks at it, I'd definitely say that Rule 34 and other kinds of "alternative" porn (yiff, for example) are a good thing.
  2. Very nice! I'll be sure to look into this band some more. What are your thoughts on Spock's Beard?
  3. Never heard of Citizen Cain until now, but that song you linked is pretty awesome. They kinda remind me of Genesis but heavier and with more synths. Their singer even sounds like Peter Gabriel. You should definitely check out IQ, their latest album in particular is amazing. If anyone is interested, Dream The Electric Sleep released their second album this year, and it's pretty fantastic. Also, it's free on their bandcamp page. http://dtes.bandcamp.com/
  4. I actually love Ayreon, Sleepytime Gorrila Museum, SikTh, and Porcupine Tree; I forgot to list them because I haven't been listening to them much lately. I just listed the bands I could think of at the moment, I enjoy a lot more than that. I like Rush and I have 2112 and Moving Pictures, and I'd probably be a lot more into King Crimson if their stuff was on Spotify. Opeth is one of those bands that I've really wanted to get into but just haven't bothered to yet; I'll be sure to fix this soon though.
  5. I'm sure I can't be the only progger brony here. So, whether it's classic prog from the 70's, newer prog, or progressive metal, feel free to discuss it here. Here are some of my favorite bands in the genre: Genesis (Everything up to Duke, anyways) Yes Dream Theater Coheed and Cambria Between The Buried and Me Closure in Moscow IQ Marillion The Mars Volta Pink Floyd Airbag Mandroid Echostar The Dear Hunter The Flower Kings
  6. You've never suffered from extreme loneliness before, have you?
  7. "You just need confidence!" Okay then, I'll head to the nearest convenience store and pick up some high-strength confidence when it goes on sale.

  8. 17, kissless virgin, never had a girlfriend. I'm pretty much damned with hideous looks and a shy, awkward personality. Basically, it really fucking sucks. It's a feeling that most "normal" people or people who are "willingly single" are incapable of even beginning to understand. Imagine having an incurable disease that makes people not want to be with you and pretty much makes you an inferior person in the eyes of most others. Knowing that I'm probably going to die alone for reasons that I don't have any control over is not an easy pill to swallow and it's something I think about almost every day.
  9. The way I see it, besides it just being cartoon logic, all ponies have a small amount of magic in their hooves that allows them to hold objects that they wouldn't be able to otherwise.
  10. For the animation fans that haven't seen this yet, I highly encourage checking it out. It's the pilot episode for a show that was unfortunately rejected by Nick a few years back. It's funny that they'll accept something like breadwinners and reject shows like this and Adventure Time. Although in AT's case it was probably for the best.
  11. I was into this show back when it first aired. I really liked it for the most part, I think I might have watched the first six episodes and then stopped watching because I'm lazy. I really need to get back into it at some point. To me it has a different feel than Adventure Time but has that same emotional depth that I enjoy. Also, I really need to get back into anime sometime. I watched an episode of Squid Girl a while back and enjoyed it, I've also heard a lot about Attack on Titan.
  12. Glorious! Now we can finally show those console gamers what they've been missing out on.
  13. I noticed that there isn't a general discussion thread for animation, so I decided to make one myself. Any other animation enthusiasts here? Any of you guys do your own animation? Cartoons I've been watching lately besides MLP: Invader Zim - As soon I saw that kid's eyes get torn out and replaced with robotic ones I knew I was in love with this show. "Hey, let's get the guy who made Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and have him make a kids show!" Ruby Gloom - I feel like a lot of bronies would be into this show if they checked it out. It has a relatively large cast of characters (slightly bigger than MLP's, I think), is kinda moral focused but not as much as MLP used to be, and has a sort of pseudo-gothic art style that I've never really seen before. Adventure Time - This show doesn't really need much of an introduction at this point. It seems to be kind of a "love it or hate it" show, but I love it. The Maxx - This was a cool little mini-series that aired on MTV. I haven't read the comic it's based on but it's supposed to be pretty accurate. Wander Over Yonder - An incredibly fun, cute show that doesn't get as much attention as it deserves. It's created by Craig McCracken and also worked on by Lauren Faust, so that alone should tell you it's worth checking out if you haven't already. So, feel free to discuss anything related to cartoons or animation. Whether it be about western cartoons, movies, anime, or even internet flash cartoons.
  14. Yes, my topic has been brought back from the dead! Well, kinda. I've been reading the comics lately and it's pretty dark at times and definitely more aimed at an older audience than the show. I don't think I've ran into any explicitly adult references yet, but I don't think something like this would happen in the show.
  15. What show is that? I like the art style.
  16. To a certain extent, the show already has been doing that. Go back and watch some of the old S1 episodes, and then watch something from S4. There is a big difference. I don't expect MLP to pull an Adventure Time on us with some huge revelation about the show's universe (as much as I would love that), but I do predict and hope that S5 and beyond will continue to expand on it's lore and characters in a way that's more complex than what's been done so far.
  17. I would be pretty upset if I was in her position too.
  18. I watch it because it's still good, no other reason. Closed-minded assholes who can't understand that different people like different things earn't going to affect my opinion on anything. I'll only stop watching it if there's such a dip in quality that it's not worth watching anymore, or when it eventually ends. Honestly, I hope the latter is how I stop watching it.
  19. Review Time! I really wasn't expecting myself to like this one as much as I did. I don't dislike Rarity, but she's pretty low on my favorite character list. This episode does a great job at further fleshing out who Rarity is and adds a lot of well-needed depth to her character. The rest of the mane six are in top-form here as well with plenty of entertaining and comedic character interaction. I'd say it's about as funny as Ticket Master, which has generally been my standard for funniest season 1 episode. If there's one criticism I have, it's Hoity Toity. It's not that I dislike or find him annoying; I felt like he was added only as some kind of extra or external validation of the episode's moral, which it really didn't need since it stands so well on it's own. That's another thing this episode does extremely well: the moral. Basically it's "What you want isn't always what's best/don't be too critical of free shit" and it's apparent throughout the episode in a subtle way rather than being introduced at the last minute. The song is pretty catchy too. Grade: B+
  20. What is your absolute least favorite episode of FIM? For me, it's currently Boast Busters. I mean, I don't get how people can like that episode. Trixie may have been kind of a bitch, but she was the innocent one. Not only that, but the mane six were heckling her. When you're on stage and someone is heckling you, you're supposed to respond harshly and put them in their place. Also it introduced Snips and Snails. Just for the sake of variety let's pretend that Mare-Do-Well, Spike at your service, and Magical Mystery Cure never happened.
  21. Review Time! After two forgettable episodes (Applebuck Season and Griffon The Brush Off) and one outright atrocity (Boast Busters), this was refreshing. Obviously, this is a Fluttershy episode, although the rest of the mane 6 do get a lot of screen time as well. Don't know how else to say it, so I'll just say it: Fluttershy is absolutely fucking adorable here. The character interaction here was definitely up to the show's usual standard, which each of the mane six reacting differently to how Fluttershy's behavior slows them down or inconveniences them. I enjoyed how Rainbow Dash became visibly frustrated with her (Which I honestly think is in her character, she can be kind of a jerk sometimes), Applejack was supportive and patient, and Twilight was kinda just disappointed. The comedy was definitely a step-up from the last three episodes, it made me chuckle more times in the first 5 or so minutes than those three combined. However, it still doesn't quite reach Ticket Master. Even though I'm glad this episode happened and I did enjoy it, I'm thankful that Fluttershy's character has developed to the point where we will probably never have another episode like this one again. Grade: B
  22. They're making an EG 2? Huh, disappointing but not unexpected. Let's face it, the only reason EG is a thing is to sell toys, and I personally hold MLP to a much higher standard than being an animated advertisement. That being said, I predict that at some point a proper MLP movie will be made. It makes sense, Hasbro is more than aware of our existence and probably aware that EG doesn't get anywhere near the same amount of praise from us as the main series. There's money in it, not only from us bronies but also from the "intended" audience. I'm willing to bet that a proper MLP movie would make a decent amount more at the box office (if it were to be shown in theaters, of course) than either of the EG films. However, I'd like a movie to be the way FIM ends; A 1.5 hour, epic love-letter and "thank you" to us fans.
  23. I don't really see a point in trying to do anything about this. He either doesn't actually think we're all pedophiles and is just using that for shock value or he's an idiot (which to be fair is quite likely) and does think that, either way it's not worth our time.
  24. I think that the issue with most of the Spike episodes is that he (especially with his inconsistent characterization) just works better in small doses, so something like this would be perfect for him.
