  1. Definitely agree with this. I have to say, much as I like the occasional pandering, I feel in the wake of season five and the Slice of Life episode, this was just too much and fell too flat. Cranky, DJ-PON3, and Derpy have the most basic of cameos – which would be fine in the background, but not the foreground in this context. Twilight was also bordering out-of-character with the bit pertaining to the silverware. She's a book nerd, not a... manners nerd? Certainly not in the way of things like proper culinary placement; I mean, what did she do back in the Golden Oak Library days when Celestia paid a visit? Notwithstanding the hyper-organized procession that was the Sugarcube Corner brunch in season one, I don't see Twilight busting her rump over Celestia nearly as much these days – at least not to the extreme displayed here. I dunno. This one just didn't hit the high mark with me.
  2. I would love to see an episode based mostly on Princess Celestia! She's had some attention in the comics, but not so much in the show. I'd also like to see some more Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo bonding, but on a similar note, it would be kind of cool to see an episode maybe dedicated to Sweetie Belle and Rarity's relationship with their parents. I imagine if done right, that could be interesting.
  3. Hadn't seen the bio before. You've got a real winner here; I love her backstory, not to mention her style. Nicely done!
  4. We met in college. They were a clueless dork when I first met them. Now they're a medical-school dork. In all honesty, I've never seen anyone grow in life as much as my best friend has. This person is my regular source of hope in humanity's ability to do right by one-another.
  5. Marie Callendar's ® Creamy Parmesan Chicken Pot Pie.
  6. I bought a pack of blue plaid underwear when I was 12. I ditched all my old underwear when I got them, so I had nothing but blue plaid at that point. I thought it funny if, for kicks and grins, I'd just buy nothing but blue plaid from that point forward. In the end, I did. Thirteen years later, I've worn nothing but blue plaid underwear every single day.
  7. Best anniversary gift ever. Good job, Crusaders. I always believed in you three.
  8. That was an astounding episode! Really glad to hear Big Mac speak again (obviously), but that final scene in general really sealed the deal. A great, basic touch on the relationship between the youngest and oldest siblings of the Apple family, not to mention some Scootalove.
  9. Claimed this callsign when I was five. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WEho5bZ7JM

    fandom q+a Horse Wife Q&A

What inspired you to start Horse Wife, if anything in particular?
  11. It's good, to be sure! I enjoyed it quite a bit. Great to see Gilda again after all this time, but I feel for her and the others for having fallen into poverty. Being a race that thrives mostly off the pride gained from material wealth has to be hard, for both the griffons and the dragons. And how they spun that plot point makes me a little torn. As an adult fan, I wish that they had played out the search for the idol more, even after Gilda rescues Pinkie and RD. Having raised such a significant plot point, and then abandoning it for what was admittedly a decent moral message for the kids, makes me a bit flustered. This is just one of those episodes where I would have loved to see the adventure side of things pan out a little more, especially with such a motley crew as Pinkie, RD, and Gilda. But, such is the fate for some adult fans I suppose. Nevertheless, I liked the episode. It had a good flow and lots of fun little bits all around. I feel as if they did a pretty decent job of building Gilda's character as well, though that flashback made me squirm a bit in embarrassment. Good to see an old friendship repaired as well; I'm sure Twilight will be proud.
  12. I absolutely loved this episode, and it was pretty cool because for a while... I was actually mad at Fluttershy. (Oh Celestia, please don't let this get flamed) But seriously, I felt as if Discord was put on the sidelines for someone who Fluttershy was only barely friends with. Then again, that observation sort of imposes my own personal views of 'friendship'. Fluttershy doesn't seem to be affected so much by how long she's been friends with someone so much as the quality and nature of the person she calls a friend. And that is good news for Discord, because as she states near the end, it would be the same difference as if Discord had someone he could discuss chaos freely with. This was a well-orchestrated episode that certainly felt tailored at times for the fans. I loved the little references they added in, like when Discord was hiding in a box from Pinkie Pie. Very good stuff, altogether fun, and you just can't go wrong (or, maybe right) when Discord is involved.
  13. I lived in Atlanta back in the 90s, so it was a mix of northern speech rate with a southern drawl. Now I just have a fast, scruffy accent. No idea what you'd call it.
  14. 2005: "Are they colorful?" 2015: "Yes." 2005: "Dope, see ya in ten."
  15. I liked the episode. I almost chose "it was okay," because admittedly the structure was fairly shallow. But they did play into one significant concept, the idea of a misunderstood cutie mark. However, they could have carried the weight of the concept a little better. Troubleshoes simply did not have enough character development in the episode, spending too much time focusing on his self-deprecation. But even with that said, Troubleshoes still stands out — and not just thanks to his awesome Clydesdale design. During the latter half of his appearance, they gave him a little more attention to detail, and I was impressed how they managed to keep him 'stable' in the sense that even after he discovered the true meaning behind his cutie mark, he didn't turn a full 180 degrees with his personality. He's definitely an enjoyable character, it's just a shame they didn't develop him a little more after his initial introduction. And of course CMC for the win as always, though I agree with what some others have voiced: it feels very much like a return to form, in a bad way. They were more irresponsible than I believe they would have been given recent episodes focusing on their adventures. Then again, MLP episodes aren't always chronological, so who knows specifically when this was supposed to have taken place relative to previous episodes. Still liked it. Maybe giving it more credit than I should, but I liked it alright.
  16. What's up, all. Checking in from the southern U.S. This is actually pretty cool! Glad to see people from different faiths congregate on a site that promotes friendship, and really glad to see a successful Christian thread. Hate for hate gets exchanged between different beliefs so often that things like this are a fairly rare occurrence online. I love this fandom.
  17. I was expecting more Rarity versus Pinkie, but I definitely agree with the rest!
  18. Well, it's a simple episode, to be sure. But it seems like they put a lot of heart and attention into Rainbow Dash's song, more so than in some past examples. Plus, having RD have a crying fit over her pet brought on both the feels and the laughs. It was sad to see her so broken up over parting with Tank, but it was pretty funny to see her let loose like that as well. I also enjoyed the mess she made in Cloudsdale -- that was pretty fun to watch. I liked it. Wouldn't say I "loved" it in this case, but I definitely liked it a lot. And being an RD fan, I hold it higher than most RD-centric episodes of the past.
  19. Oh. My. Gosh. ... It's probably a coincidence, BUT, that's pretty awesome all the same. And if it was a reference, then all the more reason to squee.
  20. Death Cab for Cutie - Passenger Seat. Was mine and my wife's wedding song.
  21. I looked over the 'Guide to Octavia's Hall' post, and I think I'm posting this in the right area? If not, mods, do your thang. Anyway, I've been mulling over this idea for a one-off of Rainbow Dash playing Twenty Questions with the Mane 6. Anyway, as fun as the idea is to me, I'm not sure if I could pull it off in practice, nor are there really any other examples of this on Fimfiction (that I could readily find at least). It would be a comedy piece of course, something I've never personally written before. Main reason I'm posting this here is to see what other people think, and most of all (if you like the idea), to get some ideas for what some of the questions might be, and what some of Rainbow Dash's reactions would be to them. The sky's the limit -- only appropriate for RD, right? Let me know what peeps think, or if I should toss this idea in the can.
  22. That is a good point, actually... One could only hope they find a way to reintegrate her at a later point, or at least keep her in mention. Wishful thinking on my part, I'm sure.
  23. I loved it. They're definitely taking the show in a deep direction, playing out to the fans of all the age groups. Glad to hear Babs finally found her talent. Also love Luna's ability to integrate others into the dream world -- that was something I was kind of hoping to see one day. And yet,
