  1. @@Blitz Boom @@cwhip9 The dream seemed to fade slightly, but only for a moment, as if the one who created it were struggling to keep the dream intact. Then the pony of old spoke, "I have stood guard here for many centuries, waiting for this day, yet hoping it would not come. One thousand years ago, we were asked to guard an ancient artifact, but only a few of us were told of its true purpose. The purpose itself were a secret kept so those who possessed it would know not how to use it. 'Twas a gem of great size, and it acted as a seal to keep a powerful beast that roamed the ethereal plane locked away. Not much else about the beast was told to us but we were assured that its escape could bring about the fall of Equestria or even the world if left unchecked. It was I who agreed to have our family guard the shrine, my descendants not knowing what it was that they protected. Those who had come to claim it knew not what they sought, only that it was well guarded, but that was enough reason to try to take it. It has been told that the Ananasi, a spider people, know more. Every one thousand years this gem is protected by a different clan, and they were next in line to guard it. Over these many centuries my power has grown weak and I no longer have the strength to slay this beast myself, and thus I bestow upon you this ethereal blade, the true relic of your bloodline. Those who die wielding it will carry it with them through the veil of death, as I have. Take it, and avenge all who have fallen to keep this beast at bay." She presented her blade to Last. The dream faded a bit again, she might not be able to keep it stable much longer.
  2. @@Blitz Boom Post made. That should help to clarify things. @@Blitz Boom Slight misinterpretation, I originally meant for the open (doorless) doorway to lead to the shrine in the real world, but I can work with this. Don't change anything though, I have a better plan now than I had before. I'll wait until @cwhip9 responds before posting.
  3. @@Blitz Boom @@cwhip9 Just then, a doorway appeared. On the other side was a sight that would be familiar to Last. It was the shrine she and her family before her were tasked with protecting. The spirit of a pony was standing at the shrine, waiting. She too would look familiar, as he was Last's distant ancestor. She was among the first tasked with guarding the shrine. Her blade seemed to be on fire, but the flames were a light blue and she was wearing the same armor that would be expected of the guardians of the shrine.
  4. @@Blitz Boom The 'tie-ins' I was referring to are about the backstory, and how The Forgotten One relates to the shrine and the spider. The spirits of the dead shouldn't be able to simply wander into the dream realm. Hold on, I'm going to post something.
  5. @@Blitz Boom Two questions: 1) May I introduce an ancestor of Last's from long ago as a spirit? It will help explain a bit of the tie-ins. Otherwise I'll have to use another guard's spirit (not necessarily a guard from the shrine that last was protecting). Keep in mind it's probably just going to be an NPC. 2) Would you want Last to gain an ethereal sword (one that exists on the same ethereal plane)? It could be something that can't exist in the real world but stays with her in case she is ever removed from her body or is in a dream, or it could just be a sword that has an effect on spirits when she returns to the real world.
  6. Tie him up, see if he turns, and if he doesn't, protect him because his immunity could be the last hope for humanity. If he turns, I'll shoot him no problem. This is the problem I have with the whole, kill him before he turns mentality: someone might have an immunity, but if they do, they'll just be killed for no reason, denying everyone that important information. Someone somewhere will have a lab and the equipment necessary to create a cure (doomsday preppers).

  8. I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed, there ain't nothing in this world for free. I can't slow down, I can't hold back, though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked, until we close our eyes for good.

  9. @@The Cat "We need to inventory everything to make sure it's all here, this may take a while," the rebel on the roof said, his clipboard at the ready. "We might as well start exploring now. What do you say, Ink?" Quill said, turning to where Ink stood... or... was standing. Ink leapt off the side of the building, screaming, "Last one to the bottom is a pickled biscuit." After an initial look of confusion, Quill flew after his brother, though he wasn't really trying to keep up. Ink dove as fast as he could, pulling up just before he would hit the dirty water below. A cragadile snapped at him but missed, and Quill kept his distance. Eventually he would reach dry land, skidding to a stop within Alamo's line of sight. Quill wasn't too far behind him, but he landed much more carefully. Each had their weapons, but also their saddlebags so they could bring back some of what they find.
  10. @@cwhip9 Crescent and Last can now roam between the Realm of Dreams and the real world, but they can't touch anything. Now they'll be able to see spirits, who can also see them.
  11. @Everyone Now that The Forgotten One had acquired a new victim, his power grew. He could now roam Equestria freely. Though it would take a lot of energy to take victims from the waking world, it could be done. The creature returned through the castle and exited through the front door, the only trace of its existence being the disruption in the ethereal plane that it left trailing behind it. Meanwhile, Miles was also leaving the castle, casually strolling out the window on the side of the castle facing the Grove. He continued, flying his way toward the Everwood Planting Field. @@Melke @@Blitz Boom @@AmberDust @@Lonk Chase @@GingerLightning "You see these magic trees here?" Seamore asked rhetorically, waving his hoof indicating the blue green trees with the rainbow leaves around them. "They're called Everwood. Each one has a soul, and cutting them down frees that soul, which then becomes a dream spirit. The wood itself has high levels of magic in it and is used for enchantments. I actually have a cart with an enchanted axel back in the castle that helps lighten the load a little. I could pull the cart without it, but it would really slow me down. I think it was a good investment. Oh, sorry, I'm rambling aren't I?" Sissilia took notice of the Timberwolf pup and moved her tail through the bushes near it quietly, then tapped the end of its tail with hers before pulling it back into the bush quickly enough that the pup wouldn't see it. She did this to a dog before and it started chasing its tail, so she thought it would be funny to do the same thing to this bundle-of-wood-held-together-with-magic.

  14. @@The Cat The cargo is just supplies for the colony, the trade is pre arranged, it's not meant to be a trade involving your character specifically. The cargo Ink and Quill will be bringing back is just a load of scrap metal and possibly some spare parts that Cloudsdale needs. This is just setting up a reason for them to be there.
  15. Later on, after delivering most of their papers, Ink and Quill received their orders: They were to complete a trade between Cloudsdale and Baltimare. Afterward, they would have some free time to do some scavenging. "Make sure you bring plenty of that goo of yours, I hear the creatures there have been getting more aggressive lately," Quill said as they were preparing for the trip. "You'll be bringing the flint tips, just in case, right?" Quill sighed, he'd heard this question one too many times. "I always do." With that, Quill threw the quiver over his back. "Are you ready yet?" "Locked and loaded," Ink said, trying to sound cool. Quill rolled his eyes before the two of them hooked themselves up to an antiquated air cart with a faded logo that appeared to be from an old moving company from a long time ago. They flew out of Cloudsdale and headed on their way to the sinking city, their cart full of precious cargo. (The cart is much like the one seen here) The trip would be rather short as Cloudsdale was currently hidden in the nearby mountains. They flew down with their cart in towe, landing on one of the rooftops where some ponies were waiting to conduct the trade.
  16. @ DwighttheGamer has now made his post. Ink and Quill are at Sugarcube Corner, too, but they haven't been acknowledged yet.
  17. @@The Cat Since this will be taking place all over Equestria, there will be multiple events taking place at the same time, so we should probably just continue on. I'll post tomorrow, bringing my characters closer. I'm just a bit too tired to write out the post right now, it is pretty late here.
  18. @@Ethan Sawyer It's actually on the third page, @Wicked Funky didn't add it to the OP, adding it in a separate post instead.
  19. The info on the Serpanthera race (I may write more): http://seamoresandwich.deviantart.com/art/Origins-of-the-Serpanthera-589085836 . @@Blitz Boom I left much open to interpretation, but they are definitely predators, built to survive. If Zhu has average hearing (which is totally plausible as snakes and cats are at different ends of the spectrum as far as hearing is concerned) his other senses should be powerful to make up for it. Snakes have an extremely heightened sense of smell using their tongues, so that should do.
  20. I've been quite busy lately, but I also have nobody to respond to. I have an idea to fix that though. @@The Cat If you're still participating in this roleplay, I'd like to start leading the twins over to Baltimare. @@Wicked Funky @@Ethan Sawyer My idea involves some further development of Baltimares trade. I would like to suggest that they are dismantling parts of some of the buildings to trade the scrap metal for other supplies, if that's okay. It's part of the reason Ink and Quill would be going there. (The background for Baltimare was originally my idea, but I'm not sure if anyone else had plans for this.)
