iiiiii knooooow mostly ancient history of it, but some medieval and modern!! I know that Romania was once called Dacia, and was inhabited by Thracian tribes :3 they liked hill forts and metalworking. the Dacian capital was known as Sarmizegetusa Regia, which was itself one of six fortresses placed in hills ^~^
i know the romans, led by Trajan, ended up conquering the Dacians, and erected a column known as Trajan's Column in Rome to commemorate it. they (romans) built a lot of roads and cities in the area uwu UNFORTUNATELY, like a lot of territories inhabited by Rome, it eventually was abandoned and Dacia was left to fend itself off from the Huns, the Avars, the Slavs, Cumans.... to name a few :3
in the medieval period, three kingdoms arose from Dacia. Transylvania, Wallachia, and Moldavia. Wallachia was one of the first two that united to form Romania, and it's capital Bucharest became the capital of Romania :3 I believe Vlad the Impaler is someone from Wallachia as well, Vlad Tepes.
i know that they were briefly an axis power in ww2 before switching to the allies, and became a communist regime after King Michael was forced to abdicated to soviets. in 1989, the romanian revolution was actually one of the bloodiest in the East eventually they joined NATO, and then the EU
i know Romania is technically responsible for producing the first jet propelled aircraft in 1910, despite limited usage :3 in fact, Romania had a lot of discovery with aero and astronautics. they don't receive a lot of recognition for it, though... they were also the first to synthesize amphetamines through a process still used today ^~^
that's about it, minus random dates, locations and monuments :3
