"Hmmm... well at least you know now." She yawned as she walked. "We should find a place to rest for the night. We can take turns keeping watch."

Solemn gave him a puzzled look. "You don't know? Didn't you read the letter?" She looked out the door herself, then motioned for the ponies to follow her out. She let the door creak open quietly and skittered out. "Basically, we need to find somepony named Alexander, but we have to watch out for something called The Shadow that's following us."

"Oh!" Solemn exclaimed as the candle was lit and the room was alluminated. "Yes, thank you." She ran to the light, glad to have its company.

"I'm fine... well... as fine as you can be with a gash on your chest." She smiled weakly. She got out of the closet and looked around catiously. A gust of wind appeared out of nowhere, blowing right in her face. "Great Celestia... I need to get to a light or I'll go insane."

Solemn felt her heart pounding in her chest as the grunt grew nearer. She let out a soft whimper, soft enough that the grunt wouldn't pick it up. She felt herself loosing sanity and tried to tear her gaze away from the grunt, but she couldn't seem to do so, so she shut her eyes. She put a hoof to her chest, forgetting about her wound. Pain erupted in her chest and she bit her tounge so she wouldn't make a sound. The grunt figured there was nothing there and finally left.

"Yeah. Now, shhhhhh." Solemn whispered, peeking through a crack. Her eyes were locked on the door as the banging increased. Suddenly, the door gave way and shattered. The grunt walked in, looking around.
