We'll be on G29 at that point.  And we'll be dead, but that's besides the point.

I'm the uber-conservative one.

This is a long wait time. I can't wait even if I would. Besides, who knows if even anybody will remember mlp then or even care. Maybe Hasbro won't even exist. Has anybody seen back to the future 2? Maybe it'll be like they said, flying cars in 2104 instead of 2015. Yep. And Disney will have bough every company except Nintendo and Sony who will be holding out against them. And it will be the end of the great company war. And they'll have cities in the air and... uh... ahem, back on topic, it's a long wait time.

I don't care what pony you like because I like everypony!

Because of the Disney lawsuits vs the US Government. Copyright has been extended (back in ...early 90's I think) to 75 Years after the "creator" of the article. For example, Ozzy osbourne's music will not be public domain until LONG after I am dead (I am 29). ASSUMING my dreams of living to 150 does not come true.

For example, He died today in 2014. Wont be public domain until 2089. HOWEVER, Some I.P's are owned by the companies themselves, rather than an individual.

In Hasbro's case, none of the creators or artists own any part of their creations; therefor, It will stay legal propority until 75 years after the company shuts down and "no one buys the copyright to them and thus renews it".

So, MLP will NEVER be public domain. Period.ever.The end.

Ah, But what if Hasbro went Bankrupt(Which is very Unlikely)? Then they cannot Trademark it. That way we can get what we want!!!

Unlikely to happen since their IP's are valuable enough to be purchased by Mattel or another company. When that happens the trademarks and copyrights associated with the IP are transferred.

And don't go holding your breath on the current copyright limit. Disney lobbied for the change once. Once it starts impacting other corporate entities we will see it extended again.
