What happened to Tirek upon his return to Tartarus?

Actually in the G1 comics it is alluded to that Tirek was once a human before he became a Centaur. Basically the story goes that Back in G1 Tirek ruled the humans and a Unicorn called Queen Majesty ruled the ponies. Tirek fell in love with Majesty, Majesty didn't feel the same way, and in a fit of anger, Tirek kills Majesty. But not before Majesty places a curse on Tirek. So G1 Scorpan could still be Tirek's brother!

I thought Tartarus was the equivalent to hell. So basically, no matter how you put it, his existence is not going to be very fun

I don´t think Tartarus is the equivalent of Hell. I think it is the equivalent of Tartaros, the abyss in the underworld where the greek gods banished their most dangerous foes to. It was described as worse than the Fields of Punishment, the greece equivalent of Hell.
