Hey everyone,

4 seasons have passed already and I wonder how the popularity of MLP is nowadays.
I'm only know the show since 1,5 year so for me it's difficult to say which season the hype was on his top (or maybe it became ever bigger?)

I have the feeling the hype, popularity and fandom is already over it's peak, but I might be totally wrong.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts, and maybe you can also say if your interest in the show is as big as ever, or becoming less.

its hard to say since there is no season running atm.

the hype is usually the biggest during and right before a season starts.

i think that it relies solely upon the writers what further happens with thos show and its fandom.

If we are talking the teen/adult fan base it appears stable. There is anectodal evidence of individual fervor for the show coming down a bit as some fans slip into a more casual mindset, but I've not seen and polling on that.

Ratings for Season 4 I think were higher than prior (but due to the viewing habits of streaming live not being counted, as well as season 1 watched often on youtube ... again it's hard to compare)

Hasbro is making more money year over year on MLP though it's in large part to EQG merchandise in Christmas 2013.

In other words the brand looks to be more popular than ever in general. But it's hard to concretely confirm that.

I'd say that the summer of 2012 was a really great time to be a Brony. That was the first year that the conventions really started getting big due to increased participation from show staffers (specifically voice actors). More media attention had been focused on the franchise on the heels of the "Canterlot Wedding" two-parter and Andrew WK declaring himself to be a Brony and subsequently appearing at Canterlot Gardens. Additionally, Hasbro began getting involved in advertising to the fandom (the sneak previews of "The Crystal Empire" were first played at a convention panel). It's also worth mentioning that all episodes were still available on YouTube at the time. Popular fan projects such as the .MOV series, the BronyCon documentary, and "Double Rainboom" were in full swing in terms of production around that time.

The series has been showing consistent year-after-year gains since then, but I really find that time to have been the definitive point when the Brony fandom really began to take off into popular culture and become as huge as it is today.

Well, it's a good thing I became a Brony at that time. :)

I think the show is still really popular, but the peak might be over. Still, that doesn't mean that it's not awesome anymore. For my money, the show is getting better, and I didn't think that was possible.

My interest rises and falls, only because I love other stuff besides ponies. But this is the best fandom in the world, and the show we watch is deserving of our support.

Somebody who was at BronyCon '12 here...as well as 7 more cons since. Nothing will ever top the sheer energy/atmosphere of that year. If you were to go to a single convention, that was it.

I believe that the fandom is still fairly stable....perhaps a bit more hype will come when a new season becomes more apparent ya know? Though that's just my little opinion....

There are a lot more Bronies at my school than I ever thought. There are like 10 in my grade. But I doubt it will ever change too much. I do love seeing new bronies, though.

It's definitely gotten a lot bigger over time. More and more people are tuning into it and the show's appealing a lot more to older viewers, so it's appealing to more people.

Well I voted its bigger than ever cuz after I became a brony which was at the start of January in 2014 and I noticed a big bloom with broniness. People I never thought were bronies actually were bronies.

Well, I'd say it got bigger around the time the hype for "Twilight's Kingdom" was building up and when the episode premiered. I mean, that was a GOOD episode, so the attention was justified.

As for right now, I'd say it is stable. As another post mentioned, fans are more in a casual mindset with some following the comics and waiting for "Rainbow Rocks." Besides though, we still have some fan material to digest, so we're good. :)

I think it's bigger than it has been. A lot more people are joining. Heck, we're still getting news reports.
