Okay this is starting to get annoying. Why are some people getting so mad about fanfics like cupcakes? Seriously, it's a fanfic. It's not that bad. Sheesh. Though there was one fanfic that I really disliked. Rainbow Factory. I really disliked it.

Yeah you're kinda right, but they give people a bad impression on the characters, I used to love RD but then I realized how dumb she was when she got killed and turned into cucakes, soooo Pinkie is my favorite pony because of RD's stupidity

they're just disturbing, and you come across them every once in a while, the fan art for the Grimdark/Clopfics lead to some serious NNNNNNNSSSSSFFFFFFWWWWW

Why is My Little Pony fan-fiction-dom surrounded by infamy rather than fame? There are many good fics out there.

 

It's like the Glory days of olde when H.G. Wells, G.K. Chesterton, C. S. Lewis, George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde were alive, and all anyone can talk about is Mein Kampf as interpreted by an 11-year-old.

What I don't know is why everybody talks so highly about it. I mean, it's not very well written. I'm sure there is much better written and more gorey fan fics out there, why does cupcakes has to be the iconic one?

If there's one thing I can't stand when it comes to pony fan fics, it's dark and grimdark.

It just doesn't fit with ponies. Not by far.

 

Let's see... why do I hate "Cupcakes". Well, to put it short, it's just disgusting.

I only read like 4 or 5 pages of it, and had enough. Also I just don't understand

how people can write these kinds of fics... it's disturbing. :/

Because not everyone has the same opinion as you do, I guess some people really hate it and others love it.

I don't really mind them. I may get disturbed by them for a few days, but I've never lost faith in the characters, as I can easily separate fanon from canon.

 

However, Rainbow Factory seemed to be the most likely of all the fics I've read, as we never know where the stuff needed for rainbows is kept, shipped in etc.

I'm sure I could convince you otherwise, assuming you'd be willing to countermand the bias in the hope that you'd realize not all fics are shipping, violence, sadness or horror.

The main source of disturbance was not the fanfic, but the trend started by it

Can’t agree more with this! I just don't understand how anyone, who is a genuine fan of the show, could enjoy something that contrasts so much with it. Sure the writers put in a lot of time and effort to make it interesting, but MLP just never equates to violence in my opinion, no matter how good it’s written. Going from watching the show to a grimdark fanfic completely destroys the innocence and cheerful vibe that the show provides.

i really liked cupcakes and rainbow factory, i loved cupcakes because of its gory content (i am a big horror fan) and i really liked rainbow factory because its dark and creepy atmospher, the story sucked me in and i really wanted to keep reading to find out if scootalo would escape or be turned into a rainbow. now that my fellow bronies, is how i feel a fanfic should be written.

I never said I was fine with cupcakes. Maybe it's because I saw cupcakes before I saw Rainbow Factory. Cupcakes was creepy to me, and when I read Rainbow Factory, I guess I just thought that it was going too far. Now that I think about it I really didn't like cupcakes. Thanks for that realization.

nothing, i just enjoyed the stories for their content and good description of the situations the characters where in.
