The Dark Lord 332 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 I agree. I think we get the right amount of fan service as it is. 3 My OCs - Dead Eye, White Shade, Last Shadow, Zen Credit for my Signature goes to DJ Aeron Q.

Vemillia Nightshade 2,247 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 I understand your frustration but some people will be obsessive like that. Obsession will lead to things like this. "Love and Hate are two different sides of the same coin. Both are feelings that are indescribable. One is felt often while the other is typically felt by those who cannot comprehend right from wrong." - Me "In my time as a reaper of souls, I've learned to never take anything seriously unless it means my life. Chaos and Control are forms of the life flow, nothing more. Pain and heartbreak are no different, just a flow of events." - Sadist "I know there is no use to prey, I am a demon today. boiteporte 591 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 I personally don't like shows which have a lot of discrepancies in them because it feels that the writers did not bother to pay attention to the good continuity of the show and MLP is full of them. And yet, I still love it. Strange, huh ? Anyway, I have no complaints about the direction this is heading and I truly understand that the target audience of the show should, of course, be Hasbro's biggest priority. People tend to flex their analyzing muscles a little too much with MLP, especially certain aspects of the show.
Envy 6,169 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 (edited) Seriously, I just saw the live-action Equestria Girls trailer and the comments over on EQD and I could not stop facepalming. "Ew it's girly". Was a comment I saw, which just... I mean... Hello, this show is for girls, and the show is, in its entirety, "girly". The rest of the comments weren't much better... Just a shining example of how far detached the 'Brony' fandom is from the reality of what they're really watching. Edited August 4, 2014 by Envy 1 Everything needs more woodwind! Dark Qiviut 22,433 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 (edited) Just because Hasbro/DHX does work for its "target audience" (who isn't children, but guardians like yourself) doesn't mean their kid-oriented decisions will always work. When obvious toyetic products get shoved into the canon, then the older audiences are going to be apprehensive towards them because Hasbro's toy plugs have been very hit or miss. Rather than treat the base demographics with respect, most of the the placements constantly pander to their base demographics. Also, "it's for kids" is no excuse for developing trash. UserNotFound 964 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 A lot of what's already been said here makes sense, I mean I don't mind the brony analysers and I actually enjoy them, although I more often than not take their theories with a pinch of salt... It's just fun to speculate and a show that provides enough material to speculate on is good... What does annoy me is when Bronies say the show should have more adult themes... I mean I know some kids shows do have a darker twist but in my opinion that wouldn't really fit in with the FIM feel... I've seen some bronies wanting scenes equivalent to R rated movie battle scenes and I think that's where it goes too far... You have to remember you're not the only ones watching this show, very young and sometimes easily frightened young children watch it too, and although the bronies are a major part of the viewing figures, it wouldn't be fair to turn it into a fan service show just for the adult fans... I know a lot of young girls I know would be very upset by it .

BastementSparkle 20,326 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 I've said this on another thread, and I'll say it again! FiM is for kids, will always be for kids and no brony will ever change that! It's for kids. Or rather it's developed to be suitable for kids. I've always thought saying it's just for kids is ridiculous, good animation is for everyone of every age. Just because it may or may not be targeted more specifically to a certain group doesn't mean that it can't be enjoyed by others who don't fit that demographic. There is nothing wrong with analyzing the show. Analyzing something you love can be a lot of fun and can open the road to some very interesting discussions. Just because some people analyze it doesn't mean they don't love it, or expect it to be something different. And pointing out flaws and criticizing something is natural. I don't want the show to try aiming more for bronies, I want it to keep doing what it's already doing. Being a great show for everyone, no matter how old or young they are. The occasional shout-out is kinda nice though. Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?
Shanks 10,816 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 I've said this on another thread, and I'll say it again! FiM is for kids, will always be for kids and no brony will ever change that! That may be the case but that dosen't mean that it is exempt from criticism or that we should accept or worse yet expect the standards to be lowered because it is "for kids". That sort of mentality is very insulting toward children and encourages a culture of mediocrity. There were all sorts of great cartoons aimed toward children in the 90's where they were still for the most part appropriate for their "target audience" yet didn't dumb themselves down because they were "for kids". Pinkamena-Pills 6,839 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 Personally i like to think MLP:FIM is for everybody now,not just kids. Envy 6,169 August 4, 2014 Share August 4, 2014 (edited) I always thought Friendship is Magic was made to make My Little Pony actually more than a girls show, and well, it is. Faust did say that she wanted it to be a show that parents could enjoy as well, but it was still made primarily for girls. But you see, she wanted to make it a GOOD show for girls. To show girls that there are many ways to be a girl and that none of them are wrong. To say that the main purpose of this show was to expand its audience beyond girls is just kind of turning its idea on its head. Yes, it can appeal to other demographics, but the main point taken should be that there's nothing wrong with being a girl, there's nothing wrong with being girly... Things for girls should not be seen as of "lesser" quality. That is exactly what Faust was going for. Wait, aren't you a girl yourself? Yes... What is your point? They are not going to do that, they like all the money the brony fandom has brought them way too much for any of that. If something like that does happen it will be because the already draconian copyrights and patent laws become even more draconian which is unfortunately a strong possibility.
