I used to like the show the randomness was good for a time , but now if its on and I have nothing better to do I might watch it if its new. the show could use more plot in the long run ,its so long gone tho I cant realy see it coming back from that.

Well, I for one love Adventure Time.  I've seen almost every episode, and it keeps getting better.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD.

I love the show because it has, unique, consistent, and efficient characters and an intricate plotline expressed through seemingly random episodic adventures.  If you watch the show long enough, you see all the prevailing themes and plotlines, like how the Lemon Kingdom was ruled over by an insane and paranoid dictator, and then was liberated by Lemon Hope.  You see how Flame Princess escaped her father's imprisonment and then, after fighting her own turbulent and fiery nature, came back to set up her own kingdom based on the principle of honesty.  It's a show where unique characters go on "silly" adventures, but then grow emotionally in ways you'd never expect.  It shocks you, really.

The episode Banul talked about was one of the best, and one of the reasons the show hits so hard.  Surprise emotion that's really deep and relateable.  If I remember right, that episode was called Simon and Marcy, one of the best, especially when paired with the episode I Remember You.  That one was about how Simon, or the Ice King, can't remember the life he used to live, and can't remember how he used to take care of Marceline, or why she is so important to him.  He lives a superficial and empty life, and he doesn't even realize what a tragedy he's endured.  I cried my eyes out at both of the Simon/Marceline episodes, because he reminds me of my grandpa, diagnosed with alzheimers.  The episode expressed a very real fear of mine, that someday he won't even remember who I am.

I guess I like the show because it forces you to be perceptive.  There's always deeper meaning, even to someone like Lumpy Space Princess, who, after first coming off like your typical spunky drama queen, turns out to be lonely, regretful and insecure (not in a cliche way, I promise).  It's like this duality between typical cartoon comedy and actually valid emotional progression.

Adventure Time will always be my favorite cartoon (sorry MLP :( ) no matter what.

Adventure Time is a good show, in my opinion. The characters are interesting, the episodes are fun and yes, there is a story through out the show, but often it is not obvious. I think another reason why it's popular is the out-of-this-world weirdness, which adds to the humour.

It's a fun show, but I guess everyone has their own opinion.

Honestly this show is just stupid and nothing but stupid...It literally feels like it was made completely and only for idiots...(No offense to any Adventure Time fans) But seriously I think that this show is just retarded...

Well, thanks for insult there buddy! No the "no offense to any Adventure Time fans" doesn't mean jack squat as you still called us idiots. To anyone on this site that insults anyone for liking Adventure Time remember this: The next an Anti-Brony comes along and calls you a man-child, an idiot, a retard, a faggot, so on and so forth, you lost the right to complain about how mean they are the moment you started acting like them towards fans of Adventure Time! Good day sir!

Not everyone has the same opinions, just because you may personally not like something doesn't mean it's impossible for others to like it. Everyone has a different taste in what they like watching and it's important to respect that (like when people hate on bronies for liking MLP). Plus I think I have to disagree with a lot of the things you said about it...then again, I'm pretty biased because I'm a fan of the show myself. :P Just remember that because it's not to your personal tastes you don't have a right to insult the fans.

I seriously don't get it. Why do so many people like Adventure Time? The show doesn't have a storyline, everything happens at random, it's poorly animated, badly written, farfetched...

But how is it more farfetched than a show about colorful ponies adventuring in a magical land?

That aside, I can't go into too much detail as I only recently got into watching Adventure Time and have only seen the first season (well, actually 23 of 26 episodes, but I'll finish up season one today).

That being said, as a former avid brony (I watched and absolutely loved the first three seasons of MLP and was crazy about the show for around a year; I haven't watched any of season four, however, and my interest in it has been very low for the past several months; Might try to catch up before season five premieres, but might not) who would still say that I like MLP, I find Adventure Time to be hands down the better show.

I find the animation to be awesome, and at times extremely well done (you're mistaking the quality of the animation with the show's artstyle, which fits its bizarre quirky feel).

Nor is the show poorly written. I can understand if you're just not into that sort of bizarre, quirky humor. Apparently the first two seasons are very random and off the wall in nature, but season three and onward start to focus more on story and character development (so I've heard). Also, whereas MLP made me smile and occasionally chuckle, Adventure Time episodes also make me smile, but are occasionally genuinely hilarious. The whole episode with Magic Man in Season One was pure gold.

I respect your right to dislike the show, and, like MLP, it's certainly not for everyone. I however, have enjoyed it immensely so far and look forward to watching the next five seasons.

  Moments like that, and this...

Make me love the show even more. They're unexpected, somewhat disturbing (okay, in the case of Magic Man, very disturbing), but entirely hilarious.

I think it's good, but not exactly the best cartoon ever... hell, it's not even on my favorites list. (I'd rather watch MLP:FiM, Thomas and Friends (S1-7, 17+), The Simpsons, Chowder, and almost every pre-2004 Cartoon Network/Nick show anyday.)

It can be funny at moments, but it's one of those shows I watch if nothing else is on TBH. It's a good show, just not one of my favorites either. I think it's just one of those shows you have to look at in a different way to like, if you know what I mean.

Well I DID give a warning that there was gonna be a bunch of bashing and ranting...You both were entering at your own risk...

Alright look, I'm sorry ok? I admit that I overreacted. What someone else said here was true. I had not really watched very much of Adventure Time. But upon watching more of it as I have done lately the show actually is starting to grow on me.

This reasoning is invalid. You can bash and rant about the show all you like but that does NOT warrant insulting the fans of the show. If you don't like it when the anti-bronies attack you for liking My Little Pony, you don't have the right to attack fans of other shows you don't like.

I like Adventure Time. It's not the kind of show I would go out of my way to watch every episode, but if I see that it's on I'll watch it. It can be pretty funny sometimes and has some good characters. My favorite character in that show would probably be Lumpy Space Princess, she's hilarious.

It doesn't even compare to My Little Pony though.  :P  I think Adventure Time is a little overrated to be honest, but it's not a bad show.

I seriously don't get it. Why do so many people like Adventure Time? The show doesn't have a storyline, everything happens at random, it's poorly animated, badly written, farfetched, and just completely retarded in every sense of the word...So why does everybody like the show?

Heck I even heard that the creator of the show said that it was meant to be stupid...(Which it is. It is very stupid.) So why is it so popular?

Honestly this show is just stupid and nothing but stupid...It literally feels like it was made completely and only for idiots...(No offense to any Adventure Time fans) But seriously I think that this show is just retarded...

What happened to all the good cartoons like Dexter's Laboratory, Ed Edd n Eddy, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, Courage The Cowardly Dog, and The Powerpuff Girls etc? And well other shows in general that seem to have a solid plot and motivating story? Is it just because I was born in 1989 that I don't like this show?

No story? Happens at random? Do you even WATCH the show? You obviously have not. The story is progressive, there is character development all the time. Finn's love life episodes are more then proof of that. Jake the dog now has children all grown up. ( even though they did it over 2 episodes). Not to mention the added depth of the tragic story of Marcy and Simon which totals 3 episodes so far.

Poorly animated? Your opinion. Not fact.

Creator said that? You heard wrong.

Powerpuff girls? Johnney Bravo? Most of the shows you just listed ARE COMPLETELY RANDOM! Name one story arc or progression in character development where a characters past episode is referenced in a single other episode! You cannot!

Those shows are random and nonsense. good...but they do not follow character development like Adventure Time does.

At least IT has that going for it.

I think Adventure Time is okay. It's not the best show ever, but when I just want to sit down and enjoy a show it does the job for me. I'll agree that it's overrated, as it's nothing really special. I find the universe interesting, because it's both random and fun to look at. I also am interested in the characters, and their back stories. (Especially the Ice King, and Marceline.)

1. When you say "I did say there was going to be bashing, you entered at your own risk." yes, that is a defense and an excuse for your actions and it waters down your apology.

2. No, these posts aren't trying to troll you, they're debating, they're expressing a different viewpoint and they are criticizing some of the choice words you have said. If you can't handle criticism then I suggest that you be careful with what you post. I am not insulting you nor am I trolling you, I'm just telling it how it is.

No, they're just disagreeing with you - you shared your opinion on something and they have every right to disagree with it :please: Even I can compare it to what anti-Bronies say about FiM, and I don't like Adventure Time, so of course they have the right to defend what they're fans of. You were really insulting towards them

You're not getting trolled, dude - it's just debate :D

Yeah, pretty much this. Saying that AT is a retarded show made for idiots is akin to people who hate bronies saying that MLP is a show made for autistic manchildren.

1. I'm guessing you haven't watched very many cartoons if you call that development and a storyline...

2. Wow seriously? Again I guess you haven't seen very many cartoons...

3. Oh I see.

4. You have GOT to be kidding me...

But again, Upon watching more of the show it IS starting to grow on me. I admit that. In fact I already admitted it. I think I'm beginning to understand now why people like the show.

I saw it but in that same post you still used a flimsy defense for your actions. If you're going to make an apology don't try to make excuses, just leave it at an apology.

Oh THAT was what you meant.

Now can we please just let this thread die?
