Deep Web?

I am outright shocked at the amount of dis-information in this thread. The 'deep web' does not refer directely to TOR or encrypted communication. That is part of the deep web, but not the whole deal. Deep web simply refers to any data not directly accessible from a browser interface. Have a git repo? Boom, deep web.

Stop with all this damned fear mongering.

haha its true....only 4 percent of the internet is available via google and whatnot kinda sad...

Aren't you just doing this because you want a little spice in your boring lives? What's the difference between that and a criminal who gets his kicks by murdering people? You see what I'm getting at? There's still a lot of time left. Give it some thought."

I think we all know that man. The question also posed was how to access what the OP was colloquial referring to as DW and for that, yes people use p2p connections found in TOR and other avenues that I will NOT mention on a public site where minors are present, since MLPF does not support or condone some of the easily accessible material available.

That is all I will say on this topic. Thank you

Not sad at all. I am glad Google can't somehow index the contents of the my sql database or data folders. When you see a webpage, you are seeing the visual output of a huge backend. There is more to a webserver than the public_html folder. The deep web is just the rest of that data.

Oh i know i just find 4% to be an abysmally small number in terms of the internet besides the deep web is not some evil entity despite all it has

* Please acknowledge that this post refers to 'deep web' in the context and definition of Tor.

I remember reading on Reddit a while back that the guy who ran most of the sites [citation needed] on the deep web was arrested, and the URLs were seized by authorities. Tor is funded by the FBI [bias]. Most of the exit nodes lead to the FBI [citation needed]. It's just a waste of time that's full of a bunch of illegal stuff. Avoid it.

>the guy who ran most of the sites on [Tor] was arrested

Nope. There are many, many, many websites. The arrest of the Silk Road's founder was due to his own lack of security awareness for his web server and his carelessness with his surface web presence.

>funded by the FBI

because it's their brain-child and they want to encourage the freedom of speech for people oppressed internationally and aid their citizens and agents worldwide. In your context, it makes it seem negative.

>the exit nodes lead to the FBI

http://hackertarget.com/tor-exit-node-visualization/ - Is it not obvious why federal agencies would want to tap into Tor (although with little success)?

Tor is very, very good for freedom of speech if you know how to use it. It just has an infamous reputation for illegal content.

Hi everypony. Some minutes ago, my friend told me about the Deep Web, a thing that I've never heard before. We made a little research but we couldn't be sure about whether it's legal or not. Anyway, what do you think about it? Have you ever tried it?

I actually use Tor by default, seeing as how a LOT of websites are blocked in my country. But I have never seen any adds for assault rifles or humans or anything like that is rumored about the Deep Web. Granted I dont look for stuff like that ether.

Deep Web as you put it is to do with the code the web is written in. Ie HTML,CSS,JavaScript & JQuery, MySQL & PhP.

Deep Web means nothing more than how the site is hosted and how to access it, specifically without being tracked.

I.E. using a browser with HTTPS. This means a site that is secure like say amazon or ebay payment checkouts. It hides your important information via secure key cryptography, additionally using noscript as in without JavaScript stops your IP being tracked because cookies are built with JavaScript and thus it is the code that tracks your IP.

So to answer OP's question there is nothing different about the deep web except how you access it, what someone finds on the deep web is entirely based on what they look for as with anything in life.

PhP is hidden from the client side for security reasons, so this is incorrect.

From what I've heard there is two sides to the deep web, one(as mentioned by others)is a dark place with nothing but child porn assassins terrorists drugs etc etc. But then there is the other side of the deep web, this side has leaked government information old documents and overall useful information that you don't find on the regular internet. I'm not sure if I can recommend visiting the deep web(as I've never been there)but should you decide to I warn you be very careful.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

Wow, after reading this I don't think I will EVER go there.

It's always best not to mess with anything where you are a few clicks from accidentally doing something illegal, especially if you don't know what your doing!

This is my response to your message.

oh please, you can't kill a goat.

And to keep this disscussion on topic, I've heard some pretty bad stuff from people about "the deep web". Though there have been people who've said it's not that bad ( as you've witnessed in this thread). I'm a little unsure if the deep web is safe to browse or not, and I'm way too scared to see for myself. So I'm going to assume there's alot of messed-up stuff in the deep web, so I shouldn't browse it.
