I never got my hands on a 3DS but I have a standard blue 2DS.

Oh, of course! Plenty! My favorites being Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Super Mario Bros 2, and Disney Magical World!

yes, instead my favorite games that I played on my 3ds were tomodachi life and miitopia where I created miis!

My old 3DS’ battery expanded. Apparently those things can turn into ticking time bombs! Gave me quite a scare 

Fortunately I got the battery removed and got a replacement and it worked fine. I almost got rid of the console though… glad I didn’t cause I would have lost my 300 hr save file of my favorite 3DS game (it just so had to be one of the “special” ones that saves to the SD card and not the cartridge)

I understand you, batteries usually tend to wear out and two years ago I replaced the battery in my 3ds xl with a new one but unfortunately recently between 2024 and 2025 even with the new battery the time and day shift randomly and the battery only lasts no more than 30 minutes. I think my 3ds xl is almost dead.

I had to replace the battery in my 2DS. I couldn't take the console anywhere for a while because it had to always be plugged into the wall. Ironically, I've never had to change the battery in my regular DS.

Could it be the battery causing the issue? Many third party ones are pretty crap unfortunately. I’d say possibly try a different brand

Not sure about the time and day shift though, that’s weird xD

I had to replace the battery on two New 3DS XL consoles (both mine and dad's) for the same reason. I've also found out that PSP batteries can also bloat, which happened to both of my PSP batteries too, so I'll have to order a replacement battery for that console soon. I'm amazed the all of my other Nintendo handhelds still have working batteries, including my original Game Boy Advance SP from 2003.
