Conred 274 October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 Because if: Twilight was chosen to reform him, he would get treated with reforming spell, and after dispelling it he would turn evil again and get turned to stone Rarity was chosen to reform him, he would get stoned after 3 days because Rarity would lost patience with him Applejack was chosen to reform him, he would get stoned after 2 days because Aj would lost patience with him Rainbow Dash was chosen to reform him, he would get stoned that same day If Pinkie was chosen to reform him their world would be doomed
Miss.RariDash 44 October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 I think it's because Fluttershy is good with animals, so they thought she'd be good for the job? I think that Rarity should've at least offered to help reform Discord (Being the element of generosity after all ) But otherwise Magic, Loyalty, Honesty and Laughter isn't going to help Discord as much as Kindness! (Okay, maybe Loyalty. ) Rarity and Rainbow Dash (Who wouldn't love Loki?)
Kurtis 36 October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 Actually, if remember this episode correctly, wasn't Fluttershy the only one who was willing to do it in the first place? That's a big reason along with her being the element of kindness and all.
Adorkable 2,737 November 12, 2014 Share November 12, 2014 Probably because she's handled and tamed wild creatures as a living. That, and she's the spirit of Kindness. Sounds like a perfect math to me. ^^
sweetolebob18 728 November 12, 2014 Share November 12, 2014 I would say that the others sort of promised to be his friend & were piss poor friends to him 1st. Return to Harmony, Fluttershy was the only one to even be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Guys, did Zecora teach you NOTHING about making false accusations? Did even one of you have the decency to apologize afterwards? Did even one of you ever act glad to see him? Or did you treat him like a bill collector? His betrayal didn't surprise me in the least. Except for F, you earned it. I will say Twilight counting him in with clemency shows she isn't dead to all decency. On the other hand, to Discord I would say "You are F's friend, NOT her slave. Yes, that means that, to please her, sometimes you do things you'd rather not, or refrain from doing things you'd like to. It also means sometimes you both do things your way. Also, friends are close, but not joined at the hip. You shouldn't lie, but she doesn't need to know everything about your life." Also, you seem to consider Pinky a minor distraction to be ignored as best as possible. BIG mistake. Pinkie loves chaos & enjoys practical jokes. She could advise you about how far to go without going too far.
smitty121325 64 November 12, 2014 Share November 12, 2014 This question was actually one of the show's Wall Banger moments on its TV Tropes page. It makes no sense whatsoever for Fluttershy to be the one to reform him. You would think that with her being Celestia's personal protege and star pupil that Twilight would be the one to do it. It makes more sense logically and from a storytelling point. It would give them both some development. Maybe if Twilight had been the one to do it, we wouldn't have needed five episodes in season four (the season premiere two-parter, "Three's a Crowd", and the season finale two-parter) detailing how they became friends; they easily could have done that with "Keep Calm and Flutter On", which most people wanted to be a two-parter. (And let's be honest, it's not like there's a small number of bad episodes from season three that could have taken the spot for "Keep Calm and Flutter On, Part Two.") I don't know. I guess the writers know that Fluttershy's one of the most popular characters, so they decided to use her. This makes this decision funny as Fluttershy would have more reason than anypony to not want anything to do with Discord.
Celli 4,341 November 22, 2014 Share November 22, 2014 Well, she is the element of kindness, and Discord had to cheat to corrupt her, so I think it's fair to say she was the best option.
They call me Loyalty 1,951 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 Because Fluttershy has this capability to tame wild animals... Just kidding. Exactly as Geek0zoid said. It's because of trust. Discord realized that friendship is not something you play with, because you can break it.
Conred 274 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 Because otherwise this thave teaser would have nothing to say about her.
ShadOBabe 19,014 November 28, 2014 Share November 28, 2014 (edited) Everyone's already covered it pretty well. Fluttershy is the Element of Kindness. Celestia knew that she'd be the only one that would be able to both tolerate his shortcomings and still keep him in line. Everyone else would just get mad at him and give up. Except Pinkie, but then she'd just enable his mischief. Edited November 28, 2014 by ShadOBabe 1 Check out my artwork any time: http://shadobabe.deviantart.com/ "OMG; You are such a troll.
