  1. It's a Rarity episode, so I knew going in that it was going to be good. But, this episode kind of falls flat when compared to all of the other great Rarity episodes. I'm not saying that it was terrible. The moral was good and the song was great, but I felt that the story culd have been better. I also didn't much care for Sassie. This is a real shame considering all of the other great characters we've had this season so far. This is the one character that I didn't like very much. I feel like the Goth Pony that appeared in this episode (yes, she does sound like Raven from Teen Titans, but she is in fact voiced by Andrea Libman, doing a near perfect impression of her) is the one who will get the most attention. Sassie, to me, was a wasted character. I really feel like the writers could have done more with her. The song also seemed rather odd. There was only one verse before the chorus came in, but, God, is it catchy. I'm going to be humming this song for the next week. Damn you, ingram! Why is that Applejack and Rarity always get the best songs of the season/series? Next week features Rarity defending Rainbow Dash when the latter is accused of something that she didn't do. Looking forward to it, but why am I getting flashbacks of Turnabout Storm all of a sudden?
  2. I strongly disagree. Spike is nothing like Scrappy-Doo. Scrappy-Doo was merely a character created to boost ratings. Too bad it backfired. Spike at least has a personality and character development; Scrappy has none of that. I cannot believe that someone would even compare the two. Scrappy is hated so much that there is a trope for this: The Scrappy.
  3. I loved today's episode. One of the best of season five. Though, did everybody suddenly forget that Nightmare Moon was threatening to cast all of Equestria into eternal night on the day of Moon Dancer's party? This is one moment where I would have been fine with the "Easily Forgiven" trope. I loved all of the new characters and Moon Dancer's design reminded me of that one Obama poster than it did of the American flag. Now I see why this was aired today. It was great seeing filly Twilight again (adorable as always) and Spike was adorable wearing a bib.
  4. I hated this episode. It's a Spike episode, so I knew going in it wouldn't be any good. This episode just felt contrived, from Spike getting interrupted at the beginning to everypony going to Twilight for help. Did they forget that there are three other princesses that could have helped them? With this episode, it's clear to me that the writers see Spike as nothing more than a character who can't do anything right and is simply there to screw everything up. What irritates me further is that once again Spike is portrayed as being an idiot. Don't want a bird's singing to disturb your sleeping friend? Close the window. Don't want anypony disturbing your friend while she's trying to get some rest? Lock the door. Also, don't let anypony disrespect or talk down to you. Stand up to them and they'll back off.
  5. For me, it was "The Cutie Map", mainly because it suffers from the same problem that "Magical Mystery Cure" had. That is, it made how cutie mark work all the more confusing. Okay, so let me see if I got this right. Your cutie mark determines your special talent, not your special talent determines your cutie mark. Not only that, but all of the Mane Six are all portrayed as morons. Not one of them even make an attempt to take the Staff of Sameness, despite being told beforehand what it's capable of. And then when they're captured, they send Fluttershy, of all ponies, to serve as a double agent. Did they suddenly forget that this pony is a pansy who's afraid of her own shadow?! Terrible episode!
  6. Was that Button Mash I saw with Vinyl Scratch in that promo? Does this mean that he'll play a role? And what are the Mane Six doing fighting a monster in the middle of town? Shouldn't they take the fight somewhere safe and secluded?
  7. The only flaws with this episode were the guide abandoning Rainbow Dash, and the resolution. I found it hard to believe that every griffon was greedy. And the resolution felt rather rushed. Gilda could have easily gotten the idol and saved Pinkie and Rainbow at the same time. But, maybe Gilda will show up as an ally during the finale. At the very least she got some character development, which she desperately needed.
  8. In the safety and privacy of my bedroom. If I'm somewhere that doesn't get Discovery Family, I prefer YouTube, especially if I miss the new episode.
  9. No way! Oh, my gosh! I want 'em! And sorry that happened to you. People should really learn to mind their own business.
  10. I think DT's bitchiness doesn't stem from being spoiled. Given that we've only seen her father (and her mother may or may not be the pink nurse seen in "Read It and Weep") it's possible that her mother is dead. With Silver Spoon, I don't know.
  11. I would actually like to see how they handle themselves in a battle with a ferocious monster with their new Rainbow Power. We've been barely seen what ti can do. The short bit we did get to see in 'Twilight's Kingdom" was, if for anything, due to time purposes. Also, you make it sound like Twilight is the only one who's capable of doing anything, while the other five are incompetent morons who need Twilight to save them, which just isn't true. All of them have shown time and time again that they're able to handle themselves if they get in a pinch. Now for my thoughts. I'm looking forward to episodes 9 and 11, not so much 10 since I'm pretty sure it'll be a predictable, by-the-numbers scenario of someone going mad with power.
  12. Well, I guess that's where you and I differ. I thought this season was going great so far until this episode aired.
  13. Like last week's "Appleloosa's Most Wanted," I thought this episode was very meh. I felt the writing and dialogue could've been better. For example, as soon as you hear the name "Tree Hugger," you instantly know that it's a set-up for a character who's a stereotypical hippie (very much like Tree Flower from "The Angry Beavers"). I would have liked to see more of the CMC experiencing what it was like to be at the Gala. The premise could have made for a very interesting and entertaining CMC episode. I also found it creepy that Spike woke up to find Discord in his bed. Talk about creepy.
  14. Not that I hated this episode, but I thought the best part about this episode was getting to see Sweetie Belle use magic! Apple Bloom was right; those lessons with Twilight are really starting to pay off. I couldn't be more proud of her.
  15. Honestly, it didn't bother me in the slightest. There isn't anypony I could think of who's more worthy of being crowned princess than her. She's worked hard for this and it helps that her family is somewhat part of the royal family.
  16. I hate Gilda, Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, and Princess Celestia. What's funny about Tiara and Spoon is that i didn't hate them at first. They were just an annoyance. That is, until "Flight to the Finish" came around. After this episode, I despised them! I hated Gilda not for the fact that she made Fluttershy cry, but because she was a flat, boring one-not bully character. In my opinion, this character would have been a golden opportunity to learn more about Equestria, the Griffon kingdom, and could have been a way for us to learn more about Rainbow Dash's past. Just another character they went and wasted. Finally, I don't like Celestia because she doesn't really seem to care about her subjects like her sister does. Luna has been shown to care deeply about her subjects, especially children, but we haven't seen Celestia express any affection towards anypony other than Twilight. Furthermore, anytime a crisis comes up, instead of doing something about it, she merely calls on Twilight and friends to save the day. Even when she attempted to do something ("Canterlot Wedding") she went down without a fight. Really? This is supposed to be the Equestiran equivalent of God Almighty?
  17. I sincerely hope that Hasbro, unlike Nickelodeon with SpongeBob, is smart enough to cancel the show when they realize that it's losing quality. Initially, bad writing was one of my major concerns when I first heard that new writers were being brought onto the show. That's one of the surefire ways to ruin your show. However, the episode "Castle Sweet Castle" seems to have proved me wrong. But we still have twenty-one episodes to go through, so there's a chance they'll write a bad episode. My theory is that the show will start losing quality in the sixth season. It seems to be a rule in television that anytime a show goes past five seasons, the writing begins to lose quality. Hopefully, Hasbro will be smart and end the series with the film. (You know, how SpongeBob was SUPPOSED to end). But you're probably right. If SpongeBob is anything to go by, this series will become yet another cash cow franchise for Hasbro (not like MLP is one already). Still, I'm holding out hope that the series will end with the film.
  18. To be honest, that's something that I've been confused about myself. Both "Princess Twilight Sparkle" and "Pinkie Pride" imply that only a year has passed since the events of "Friendship is Magic." If all of the events have taken place over a year, then, damn, the Mane Six sure have had their hooves full. I think another poster pointed out that the slice of life episodes are self-contained and are out of order, so they could probably be easily seen as taking place over one year, but the premieres and finales sure make how much time has passed in Equestira since Twilight moved to Ponyville extremely confusing.
  19. I don't see there being a season seven, as I feel like the film will serve as the series finale. That is, unless season seven comes out next year, which will serve to lead up to the movie.
  20. I have to disagree, as it's been shown that each member of the CMC is able to carry an episode on her own. Actually, from what I understand, Babs getting her cutie mark and becoming a mane stylist comes from one of the Friends Forever comics.
  21. Glad I'm not the only one who thought of the Grinch with this episode. That's what I thought of when I first read the description. RAINBOW DASH: I must stop winter from coming. But, yeah, Rainbow's expressions are one of the best parts of this episode.
  22. Oh, my God! This episode was hilarious! Easily the funniest episode of the series, with "Bridle Gossip" being a close second. It's nice to see Cindy Morrow back on the writing staff after she's been gone for two whole seasons. Apparently, Ashleigh took hammy acting lessons from Tabitha. I'm sure seeing Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash sobbing together in a pile will spark some foursome clopfics and art.
