Peeta was meh. Seriously, he wasn't Peeta at all, just some guy. Same with Cato. Haymitch was perfect, and so was Effie. The beginning could've been a little more fleshed out, and the whole tribute introduction with the chariots was...eh. Final thoughts?

Seneca Crane has a really cool beard.

Really? I thought Peeta was played quite well (forgot the actors name... Hutcherson, I think?). Haymitch and Effie were spot on, but I loved Woody Harrleson anyway.

And I want that beard so damn much...

I thought it was okay.

I laughed my ass off every time Caesar Flickerman smiled. Stanley Tucci is a genius XD

I didn't like who they picked for Peeta. Josh Hutcherson was meh for the role. Rue, Haymitch, and EFFIE were AMAZING.

The costumes disappointed me.

Yeah, Tucci (and Harrelson) are two reasons, why I´m gonna watch the film again. :D

I thought that the movie adaptation was pretty good compared to the book. I found myself feeling the same emotions that I felt from the books in the film especially with the scene with Rue. Some parts are thought were a little tacky like the seen with the flames. Parts of the book was missing from the film and things were changed but then again with how long the book is and how long there is for the film I couldn't really complain. But overall it was a really good film that I would go watch again.

Actually, even I don´t know what I should think about it. I read the books few months ago and I was really looking forward to watching the film, but when I left the cinema, I was a little bit disappointed and confused.

The story was sometimes really shortened, especially the beginning, and the film seemed too "raw" to me. The camera was also shaking too much. I know it was because of the atmosphere, but they should have not used this "effect" in the whole film!

However, some parts were awesome, as well as the cast. I really enjoyed Stanley Tucci and Woody Harrelsons´ scenes, they were both just perfect!

What do you think about it?

I totally agree!

The movie was wayyy to rushed, and that mixed with the constant camera moving at the beginning made it hard to absorb.

They could've made it a lot longer. Titanic did that, and that movie's still doing great.

I didn't go in there expecting much to see the movie. Hadn't read the books, heard the premise, and had no interest. I'm not one for distopian series, you see. Don't like lots of death and depressing things.

Though when I went in, I was pleasantly surprised. I found myself more and more immersed in the events of the movie, and could not focus on not watching it to kiss my boyfriend any longer. The beginning was a bit slow, and the camera shaking made me really dizzy, but I did like that overall raw feel of it. I thought the actress playing the main character was brilliant. I could really feel her emotions at what had happened to Rue. And Rue? She was adorable, mischievous, and awesome. Also, the outfits! Oh my God, costume porn. I LOVED Katniss' fire dress. I am totally gonna draw myself a fire dress.

It was very tense and I found myself overall immersed in the film and worrying about what was going to happen to the characters. So I think it stands well on its own for those who know nothing about the series. (Although I wasn't fond of Peeta. He seemed too much like that generic love interest inserted into there for no reason. Was glad to hear though that apparently she was just pretending to love him for her advantage.)

Great book, good movie. The movie needs to be longer to include the whole story. It was a good film adaptation, but is limited by the accepted norms of the film industry.

I read the book a few years ago. I thought it was pretty cool to see the game makers in action :) There were a few parts missing, but they weren't all very big and important. After seeing Ink Heart I thought I was going to be incredibly disappointed, but I genuinely enjoyed it. But a bit of advice: If you've ever read Ink Heart, don't see the movie. It's terrible and they left pretty much everything important out.

I'm just about to see the movie tonight. But from what i have heard they did a very good job, and kept very close to the original. I'll be posting here again after tonight.

I saw it today and I thought it was really good. :(

I didn't like the whole camera seizure every time there was a fight, but everything else was pretty good. It was 97% accurate to the book I think, and was the closest book-to-movie adaption I've ever watched.

I heard something on the radio once that went something like, "They can't put everything into a movie that's in the book. Otherwise, you'd be sitting there going, 'We've been sitting here for six hours! What page are we on?!"

I don't think they left out a lot. Sure, they changed a few things here and there and a few scenes were scrapped, but it was nothing movie-ruining.

Seneca Crane's beard kinda made me wish I was a guy just so I could grow one like his.

IMO the worst part of the movie was the Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2 preview before the film. :P

As a huge fan of Battle Royale, I thought I was going to absolutely despise this movie (I never read the books). I saw it because my bff wanted to see it, and I just wanted to spend some time with her. Turns out, I liked it a LOT better than I thought I would.

I was pleasantly surprised that Woody Harrelson was in it. He was great. I also loved how much they focused on how everything was for TV. That is why I liked this movie so much. Unlike BR they focused much more heavily on the fact it was a TV show and how that particular factor affects all of the people involved.

It was also nice to see a young female character with a personality despite the fact this movie is so popular with teens. I was expecting some flat, unoriginal characters like those in Twilight.

I thought it was a great adaptation. You have to go into novel-to-film adaptations knowing that a lot will be left out, that's just how it the game is played. They can't make a 6 hour movie with all the fine details from the book. If you compare everything to the novel it's not going to be an enjoyable experience for you, so why do it? I just don't understand book purists sometimes!

I did have some gripes with the film however:

  • Shaky cam ruining the fight scenes. I guess this was done to keep their PG13 but honestly..it really took me out of the movie. Take out the violence and let me watch the fighting!
  • Rue's development was marginalized. More time was spent mourning her then developing her relationship with Katniss... lol.
  • Bad CGI. The fire, the mutts... oh boy.
Overall though = B+ for a solid effort. Most young adult fictions don't get the same treatment.
