What if Celestia was a villain?

I don't think Princess C is a villain, exactly, but she is DEFINATELY a subtle puppet master.

 

Let's go back to episode 1.  Twilight is smart, but do you really believe she figured this out & the greatest wizard in Equestria didn't?  Even though PC had a 1000 year head start? Even though PC cast the spell in the 1st place?  Twilight found clues in an old book.  Who, exactly, do you think WROTE the book? Who do you think put it in the library for T to find?

 

Why didn't she do something?  She did.  She hand picked (hoof picked? whatever) the mane 6 & brought them to Ponyville. Yes, there is such a thing as coincidence but when you are dealing with such powerful wizards they are few & far between.  Why Ponyville?  Because she knew it would take something like the end of the world to get AJ to leave her farm. 

 

Given Dash's dyslexia & her attitude to reading, I'd bet she either dropped out of school or just barely scraped through with cheating (Hasbro ain't going to touch that idea).  Nevertheless, she  got appointed Head Weather Pony at a very early age.  Why?  So that she would be there for Twilight to meet.  (IMO, Dash will never figure this out.  She thinks she got the job for sheer awesomeness)  Her performance in Winter Wrap Up & general tendency to do a half assed job notwithstanding, she never gets fired.  Why not? Because this would mean she leaves Twilight (Probably moving back to Cloudsdale)

 

Or, look at Fluttershy .  Dude, I grew up in the sticks & I can tell you that butterflies don't usually catch falling objects.  They lack both the inclination and the strength.  F's just going on a quest with no urging or cowering is so out of character that I'd say that alone is proof she was under a geas (Spell compelling obedience).  But, none of her friends ever question this?  Even after the Dragon Shy episode (bad at names,  but you know the one I mean) not one question.  I'd say this is because of a magical compulsion to ignore the matter.

 

Princess C couldn't access the final Element of Harmony because she didn't fully understand friendship.  IMO, this is why she had T writing those letters.  She wasn't making sure T was studying (or at least, that wasn't the main reason), SHE was studying & learning from them.  The events of Magical Mystery Cure were the final result.  IMO, Starswirl didn't write that spell, PC did.  It was T's final exam in Friendship 101.  As to the way the cutie marks got scrambled, I'd say that was a learning experience not sadism. IMO, they each got the cutie mark of the friend whose cutie mark they least understood (but that's a LONG post all by itself)

 

Since the time of Starswirl she has been looking for ponies to promote into alicorns & T was her 1st candidate in over 1000 years. It was no coincidence she was there when T was tested for magic.  She has probably been screening candidates for centuries. T being there to stop Nightmare Moon was just a valuable bonus.  Although, I do wonder  What would she have done if T hadn't shown up?  Let F fall to her death, or save F & picked another pony to lead the expedition?

Some people are missing something. Celestia can control dark magic, as she did in The Crystal Empire Part 1, so it's possible she could go bad / be corrupted.

 

Which would be pretty scary, considering her power. She could burn her opponents with sun-beams, trap them in black crystals and so on. Twilight would eventually come and remind her of her true benevolent nature in the end, though, along with the other Mane Six and Luna. Or Discord might have to take her down, he's sure to appreciate the irony in that.

 

Edit: I dunno if this idea occurred to anyone else independently, but how about "Midnight Sun" as the name for Corrupt!Celestia?

I would like it if she was the villain of season 5 simply because she barely get any characterization. To see her in action and kickass would be splendid. All Hail Queen Celestia!!

Seriously though, we had Luna as Nightmare Moon in the first two episodes of Season 1. What would it be like if Celestia was a/the villain in either season 5, or just in general?

In Magical Mystery Cure, Princess Celestia gave Twilight Sparkle a book with a spell that caused chaos. Discord should have been there. He would have loved it! But back on track, Princess Celestia gave Twilight a spell without telling her what it did. Seriously, Princess Celestia? What if that spell was going to wipe out all life in Equestria? You had Twilight cast a spell which she had no clue what it did? I should stop talking like that. Mane Six except Twilight had their lives ruined. At least for the time being. Rarity probably caused the death of some ponies! (I forgive you, Rarity.) Twilight didn't really have any problems and she had the other mane six solve it. Then SHE became a princess. That is the reason I hate Twilicorn. I don't think she deserved to be a princess because of that. I know she did not expect this to happen, so I am more mad at Princess Celestia for those. I don't blame Twilight one bit for the events actually. So Princess Celestia got Twilight to use a spell that destroyed Ponyville. Yeah, she is such a good princess. (Sarcasm.) 

 

On Inspiration Manifestation, I will assume the dark magic was cleaned up at night time when Princess Celestia was asleep, so that is forgiven. 

 

Let's go to movie Equestria Girls. Twilight Sparkle is a princess. Shouldn't her room be more secure so a pony can't get in? Seriously, Princess Celestia? You seemed to have made it easy for the crown to get stolen.

Princess Celestia can easily become a villain. Something can corrupt her, maybe she is possessed by dark magic, or she is tricked into believing that the ponies of Equestria are evil and tried to destroy Equestria? (Though technically she would not be evil since she would think she's doing the right thing, but she would still have to be stopped.) 

 

I would prefer Twilight to be the villain and the Mane Five have to stop her and reform her without her help. We have seen where Twilight's friends need her. So there should be a time when Twilight needs her friends.

Well, it could happen like...some evil conjurer a la Star Swirl the Bearded creates a negative image of Celestia but that's just me. I honestly don't want her to become a villain in the following seasons. Hopefully they'll find someone to reinvent from the previous gens

I hate to be so stubborn, but the idea of Celestia being bad is just something that really irritates me. This fandom has been really bad with her, so really... I'd rather this idea just fade away.

I wouldn't be too happy about this. For me, Celestia is an idol for ponies in Equestria, an ideal for ponies like Twilight to strive towards. Whilst this may not necessarily be how she's perceived by the fanbase, its apparent that Celestia is revered in Equestria and I would dislike a villainous Celestia for the sake of her role in Equestria and her own characterisation. In my (unpopular) opinion, Celestia is awesome just as she is.

different universe as shown by the sun and moon being able to be moved, so no ice age, not Luna's fauot, nihtmare forces, remember? And she felt like all her hard work and her night were going unoticed and felt lonely I believe, use magic in combat to knock her out.

 

And I'm pretty sure she didn't have much recognition because of how the situation was,and weren't the sun and the moon out at the same time?
