what do you think about mlp:fim in different languages

I have made a bit of an observation for languages other than English regarding the various characters and their respective voices

 

Even if a few characters sounded okay in some ways, there is simply no way to copy what the creators intended with the voices. All they can do is some futile attempt at compensation with made up dialogue and content that wasn't even part of the original story.

I personally enjoy the Norwegian dub. In fact, I once forgot how the English voices were because I liked the Norwegian dub so much! I feel the Norwegian voices are fitting to their characters (Iron Will's Norwegian voice is almost identical to the English voice!) and that they put a lot of effort into their roles.

 

P.S. Norwegian Discord is voiced by Norwegian Optimus Prime.

 

It can't be that bad. With subtitles, they would not be able to enjoy the show as much?

The Italian theme song is awesome.

 

It is! A bit too long for an intro (I wouldn't like to wait so long before every episode), but as a PMV it is great indeed. I love it. Do you have it somewhere in better quality?

I watch only in english, but as a german, I saw few episodes in german

 

 

horrible, they nearly all sound like the same while in english, same voice actors speaking different characters and still sound different XD

sweden is kinda like that but they sound like the same but with a different accent of swedish, I mean I can do all those swedish accents.... well I guess thats because im swedish...

I only watched english and korean.

 

English was VERY good.

 

But Korean..... um...

 

-Pinkie Pie sounded like an old lady (30-40)

-Twilight sounded really different. Voice didn't match

-Spike's voice didn't even match

 

 

Just...korean version is really awful.

 

English is the best.

I personally feel that the japanese Openings are longer (and not that good)... hell I think that Part of the Reason why japanese Episodes a cut is because they "wasted" a Minute (Original Opening=0:35 min, Japanese Opening=1:30)

From what I've seen of the dubbed versions, there is not so much effort put into them as the original.

 

However it's important for them to exist. My daughter is five years old, and although she can read pretty well, there's no way she could keep up with the dialogue if she was reading subtitles.

 

Even for older readers who could keep up, if your eyes are spending all their time down at the bottom of the screen, they miss out on watching the delightful colourful ponies.

 

Adults, many of whom have a good command of English (and I'm very envious of people with talents in this area. I'm fascinated with linguistics, and how all the different languages have developed and influenced each other, yet I have almost zero ability to speak non-English languages!) might enjoy subtitled versions more, simply because they don't need to read them most of the time. They can just allow their eyes to drop down to the bottom of the screen for the occasional piece of dialogue they didn't quite understand in English. But these people are not the main audience for the show.

Wow. I just counted and I had no idea FiM is at least partially dubbed in 30 different languages; 35 if you count alternate dubs for certain languages in regions with different dialects. That must mean there's at least somewhat of a market for the series in all those countries, and more if you count all the English speaking regions, who all share the same original English dub, and likely other regions that speak one of the languages/dialects the series has been dubbed in or those who opt to read subtitles while watching the show in English. I wonder if the percentage of viewers who are Bronies differs by region? I'm going to assume so, mind you. Still, how many series can claim to have so many language dubs?

I only wait for MLP:FiM being translated into Polish Silesian dialect (aka "ślunsko godka" ). It might even be a fandub, whatever. But I just want to hear it, it would be so much fun

I like watching some foreign language dubs of shows (MLP included), I find it interesting how different actors take certain scenes.

I like to watch it in japanese and being a anime fan

before I was a fan of the show is kinda icing on the cake

for me if anything..

 

I think the japanese did a good job and the voices

stream well with the cannons!
