Arctofire 227 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 (edited) Hello I have been very curious because I know relatively little about how popular MLP FIM is. I mean has it made as much money as the last 3 generations, because I don't really know any girls that like it, only guys like myself. I want to say that MLP is a franchise that captured the imaginations of both men and women, I want to say that desperately, but I feel like this fandom is very male dominated, I wish to be corrected and tell me if you are a girl because I will be happy to see that this show has not only done the unexpected, but also accomplished the expected. Jeric 46,851 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Yes. I have two daughters who are ages 14 and 13. They are massive fans of the show and while I ended up introducing them to FiM back in the day ... years later they repaid me. From my profile. Here is my long winded 'Journey To Bronydom' tale, but if you don't have a spare five minutes here is short story version, I knew about the fandom and the show early on. Met a Brony. Tried the show. Didn't get it. Accidentally hooked the kids. A few years later ... they paid me back. Googled a place to talk about My Little Pony: FiM since I don't think that You Tube, Facebook, or EQD comment posts really allow any substantive discussion. I found this time vampire and made it my home. So yes, girls do love this show. We also aren't all guys on this forum
Envy 6,163 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Hello, there are MANY women members on this forum! But even still we're outside of the target audience by age. I'd say you're overestimating the ratio of male fans by quite a bit. The MLP franchise has always been about the toys (for example, G2 didn't even have a cartoon!), and I guarantee that Bronies are not bringing in the most money in terms of the toys. Bronies are just a loud minority. 11 Everything needs more woodwind!
RaritySparkleArtist 1,244 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 I do not quite understand, but I am girl and always liked the show, I'm sorry I did not understand the question, but the show has always done more than I expected. xD 3 Pills <3 Kelly - The true nature, is one that warms the soul - Jane

Coco before Pommel 678 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 *waves* Hello, very much female here~ Though it can seem at times a male dominated fandom, there are tons of us around - unfortunately, because of the tendency to focus on the "bro" part of "bronies" and make a big deal out of men liking something that's meant for little girls, I feel like a lot of really awesome, talented ladies in this fandom, who contribute just as much if not more than the guys do, often get overlooked. I wish it didn't happen because we've been around for long enough now that the ~shock value~ of men liking something for little girls should be wearing off and there are tons of female MLP fans too, both young and old. Maybe we get ignored because the...louder (and usually most embarrassing) fans, who non-bronies notice, have a tendency to be guys. I do sometimes forget, ironically, spending so much time around bronies that there actually ARE little girls who enjoy the show and merch too, but then it makes me really happy when I see kids buying/playing with ponies, or a little girl getting excited when she saw the Fluttershy and Rarity plushies on my bag I think it's awesome that MLP appeals to so many different people and can be enjoyed equally by its target and non-target audiences 10 wonderful signature by Blue Moon & Wheatley! | cosplay | deviantart | fimfiction | johari window | pm me for 3DS friend code, or just to talk/make friends/whatever! <

The Mint Pone 2,294 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 There are a lot of girls hence the term pegasisters but the massive use of brony and brofist make it sound like its all guys.
Odyssey 5,716 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Uh... of course. Just because a the majority of bronies are male doesn't mean there aren't any female fans. That's pretty silly. I'm female and I like MLP:FiM as much as any other fan. Kind of a silly question to ask, don't you think?

I just usually refer to pegasisters as Brony's, not meaning to offend it just standardizes everything, it is like Miss and Mrs. which I never get right, too much of a pain.

Arctofire 227 November 14, 2014 Author Share November 14, 2014 God, well thank god I stand corrected. I couldn't help but think back to Young Justice, when it was APPARENTLY pulling in more teenage girls then teenage guys so they cancelled it. I was so afraid that the same would happen with MLP, but it seems like it has met the intended demographic as well as the unexpected new demographic.

RedMage_ 13 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 Why yes! Of course! I have two young, female cousins who absolutely adore it! One of them loves Rarity and the other Twilight! Of course, I keep my brony status quiet to avoid weirding them - and those around us - out. 3 Steam - Youtube

Sure thing, I wasn't meaning that only extreme feminists do, I just don't like the feminists that go out and attack people for almost no reason and make men look like the devil. Moonlight 7,286 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 (edited) Yes, some girls like MLP. I'm personally a girl myself and I absolutely adore the show, especially since it can be watched by both its target audience and the not-so target audience, however I don't go by "brony" or "Pegasister" and just prefer being called a fan of the show. Also, my older brother has a younger daughter and when they all come over, she loves playing with my pony merchandise, she loves the show, and I know of some other young girls who enjoy it as well. Sceethe 704 November 14, 2014 Share November 14, 2014 (edited) this thread is kind of like a "do girls even play video games" thread, but upside-down. it is kind of funny, i never thought i´d ever read something like this. MLP´s target audience is still younger girls, of course they are going to like it. after all, the main profit that hasbro gets from the MLP franchise are still the toys.
