Need Tips on making videos/animations

Hello All,

 

I'm working on an animated video and need recommendations for good, FREE, animation/video editing programs.

 

I'm currently using Windows Movie Maker, which is fine for Let's Plays, but is rather lacking when it comes to animation.  I have been told that the best program is Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premier, but I really can't afford those right now.

For 3D animation, there's always Blender, which is free. However, my extremely limited experience with it says that the rendering engine, while pretty, takes *forever* to render a full animation.

 

That's the limit of my experience, so I'm dropping out of the conversation... now!

Pivot 4 is a free animation program. Though I don't know if stickfigure animation is what you want to make.

Pivot is a good choice, is for stick mans only, it's easy to use, I'd recommend it :3

Thank you, PathfinderCS, I'm still getting the hang of where the correct places to put things are.

 

I'll look in to Pivot, though what I'm looking at doing is more vector animation. 

 

I've made my backgrounds in Photoshop, as they are less complex and more or less static.  I have NO experience with vectors however, and my animation experience is rather minimal and about ten years out of date.
