TheMisterManGuy 344 December 20, 2014 Share December 20, 2014 For those unaware, Boomerang is getting a major revamp early next year with a much needed packaging overhaul and a bunch of newer, more contemporary shows including original programming for the first time. Its also being reposisioned as a family network of sorts. The best way to describe it is think Disney XD mixed with The Hub. A channel that serves as a sidekick to the flagship network like Disney XD does, but also encourages family viewing like The Hub did. Here's what the new Boomerang will look like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS6CSdQzHxc We still don't know what new shows they have planned, but all I have to say is, it's about damn time. The channel has been nothing more than CN's recycling bin for years, that combined with a rerun exclusive lineup, aging packaging, and formally commercial-free format was the reason it wasn't part of many cable packages. So its good to see the channel actually DOING something for once.
Eloquence 2,076 December 20, 2014 Share December 20, 2014 Personally, even if they make it newer I hope they still have really old cartoons like The Flintstones. I just loved that nostalgia factor, even though it's a nostalgia from a time I most certainly didn't grow up in. It was so quaint. Actually I hope it just becomes like an oldies radio station, cherry-picking the good stuff until people are obnoxiously talking about "the good old days" more so than they already do 1 My Equestrian Empire Characters Fluttershy - Eloquence - Chamomile - Ginseng - Lovestruck Ask Me Questions! galaxysquid 2,122 December 20, 2014 Share December 20, 2014 That's pretty cool! I didn't know Boomerang was doing anything. I'm actually glad to see this. My OC, Starlight. (Better than Starlight Glimmer): http://i.imgur.com/RefDHIL.png
Larkybird~ 734 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 Well hopefully they'll try to fit in a night or something for the much older shows. Yknow the reason people first got the channel onto their program list. Like maybe once a week or something they could show the "classics". But this will be interesting to see what the newer shows and their original programming will be. http://i.imgur.com/1m3V4im.jpg ^full sized avatar picture there
Haruhi-chan 486 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 Are you KIDDING me? I watch this one I go to sleep every night for the older shows. It's the only thing I can watch without being distracted by commercials. I hope they don't start showing more of them, but I guess there's not much I can do. ._. Maybe it's just my hatred for change that's causing me to hate this... x Haruhi Suzumiya x goddess of the world twitter

Skullbuster 1,906 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 if they stop showing cartoons from the 60s-80's then whats the point? the whole point of boomerang was to watch old cartoon network shows from back in the day, im going to be very apprehensive about this 2 My Let's Play channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy14-AEEHdfj5QQAlYtB1_A Need a guest Rapper on a song? talk to me!: http://mlpforums.com/topic/103097-guest-rapper-for-you/ NEW SONG:
Vertigo_95 572 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 That means no more dancing figurines or whatever they were doing during commercials. Including the shows, those commercials is what I enjoyed about that channel. It now looks like it is trying to catch up with it's sister channel, Cartoon Network. Larkybird~ 734 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 Who knows maybe it'll fail and they'll go back to how they were. I mean they did show cartoons they weren't too awfully old, like Chowder and shows like that. So it's not too surprising they'd end up showing newer stuff. I just hope they don't totally stop showing the stuff from the 60-90's. Sure I didn't watch much of the shows from back then but it was interesting to see shows mg parents and brothers grew up watching yknow as well as some I grew up watching that the channel it's a spin off of no longer air. http://i.imgur.com/1m3V4im.jpg ^full sized avatar picture there
~Silver Essence~ 2,625 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 So a cartoon network for those who obsess over the 90's and early 2000's? Eh, okay, though knowing boomerang, I'll still get tired of it extremely quickly
Shanks 10,816 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 I get Boomerang so I am of course going to see firsthand what they are going to do with it, the prospect of original programming sounds interesting and depending on what said shows are could be promising. The main reason I watch Boomerang is because of all the classic cartoons it airs so I am of course in favor of keeping the classics coming but am also going to wait and see what sort of changes they are going to make in this re branding. CC_Maud_Pie 6,431 December 21, 2014 Share December 21, 2014 I wonder what shows they will put in? All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.
King Sejong 859 December 24, 2014 Share December 24, 2014 I am sceptical about this, I remember when Toon Disney took this same route, and now it is a Disney channel clone, they just put XD at the end. Granted, Disney XD has Gravity Falls and some Marvel cartoons, it is dodgy, with some programs from the original Disney channel, including the less salubrious programs, like teen and high school sitcoms, overtime Toon Disney retired more of the nostalgic cartoons, and so were replaced by contemporary shows, that you could just see on the original channel, Nickelodeon has already gone this route too, now many of its channels are indistinguishable by sight, mainly by name, I have begun to watch Boomerang less than I did before, back when Teen Titans, Dexter's Laboratory and Johnny Bravo were still on, now it is worrying that the Cartoon Network is content to go the path of its rivals. Sitcoms hardly air on XD as it is. XD is actually very different from Disney Channel due to the large pressence of animation on its lineup. CC_Maud_Pie 6,431 December 25, 2014 Share December 25, 2014 Not only would broadcasting old cartoons would bring nostalgia, it will introduce the new generation to them. Without Boomerang, I probably wouldn't have known great shows like Looney Tunes and The Flinstones. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. TheMisterManGuy 344 January 7, 2015 Author Share January 7, 2015 (edited) if they stop showing cartoons from the 60s-80's then whats the point? the whole point of boomerang was to watch old cartoon network shows from back in the day, im going to be very apprehensive about this There will still be some classics on the network like OG Scooby-Doo, OG T&J, OG Looney Tunes, (possibly) Flinstones and Smurfs, and the Cartoon Cartoons. Yes, the Cartoon Cartoons are as integral to CN's history as HB reruns. The reason for this change is to breathe new life into a channel who's novelty wore off a long time ago. If more cable providers like Comcast are going to pick up the channel, it can't just rely on nostalgia, especially now that it's ad supported, it needs fresh content for Advertisers and Cable providers to sink money into it. EddG 554 January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 (edited) Well this looks pretty cool. Now to wait 2 years + for it to arrive in the UK (And for CN to take the MLP:FiM rights back to UK Boomerang (the show airing on Tiny Pop really adds stereotypes to MLP:FiM over here).) Has there been any shows announced for it yet? Edited January 7, 2015 by EddG Join in the Vocaloid music and discussion on the Vocaloid Channel! Outside of that, Be Cool Scooby-Doo!, Wabbit, and the new Inspector Gadget series are speculated to air. But other than that, no official word.

James A Williams 199 January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 I can understand making the logo similar to the Cartoon Network logo because they're sort of the same channel (except Boomerang broadcasts older cartoons that people actually like and remember watching), but I'd doubt that they are gonna show these cartoons again. I remember the days when the channel was filled with old cartoon characters brought back and remastered cartoon transitions:
