movies/tv Sony's "The Interview"

I saw the interview when it first came out, being a Seth Rogen fan I enjoyed it and it's admittedly silly sense of humour. The controversy was seriously fun and interesting to see unfold but at the end of the day i'm just glad it's out there and we all have the chance to see it..

It's a pretty funny movie, with a smart political theme. If you've watched documentaries about the DPRK, you'll know that The Interview didn't exaggerate a word of the nation's portrayal. It also has the stones to look directly at KJU's apologists (yes, they exist), and tell them where they can stick it.

It's low-brow, uncompromising, accurate, and a blast to watch with friends.

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.

I haven't seen the film. It looks like an average Seth Rogan flick past his prime. I applaud Sony for the move they made though. No one was talking about what was sure to be no more than a cult film, especially since the new Mockingjay and Hobbit films came out around that time too. After the hack, or so they claim, it became the most talked about film. Quality film or not, Sony deserves props for making it as big as it has been.

Oh, my bad. I did a search for it but nothing came up. Woops

It's okay. It happens to all of us.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

Welp, I watched the movie, and it was 100% just as terrible as I thought it would be. It wasn't all that funny, it was predictable, riddled with plot holes and logic holes, racially insensitive, full of women who were either objects or kind of human but still had to be hot and sexualized (*EYE ROLL*), and overall just a totally bland and uncreative comedy. The only reason anyone paid attention to it is because of the whole back-and-forth with North Korea, which frankly I don't doubt was largely planned, and that Sony was just trying to get a rise out of the country because they know scandal sells. Even having seen it without paying for it (watched someone else's copy) I feel like I've been gamed by the system and it's just icky...

If anything, the movie is bringing the problems of North Korea to the attention of more people, which certainly isn't a bad thing. And considering the movie is about dethroning this horrible person for the benefit of everyone, I don't see how it is insensitive.

As for this response to my previous post, I actually wasn't sure how to respond to it until now. It makes a valid point, Kim Jong Un is a terrible person, so you certainly wouldn't want a flattering depiction of him. Why shouldn't we insult him, aren't we doing the world a favor? However, after seeing the movie and giving this argument quite a bit of thought, I'm going to have to stick with my previous statement that making this film was insensitive. Even if it wasn't condoning Kim Jong Un's actions, it was making a joke out of a situation that is hurting people, and also kind of had some really racist undertones. I would be interested to hear how someone who is actually from North Korea would respond to this film, as I am not them and cannot truly understand their plight, but I do not see how they would be pleased by us using their pain as the backdrop for some dumb raunchy comedy that treats real suffering like a side note to explosions and white guys getting laid...

Honestly it wasn't that great.

The media got all hyped about it because of North Korea but if it wasn't for them I swear this movie would of been a hit and miss.
