I just fought my first G rank Pink Rathian. Gods, she was difficult.

I hate Pink Rathians. I love regular rathians they are my babies, pink rathians have no respect and will maul you with out warning.

Rocking the light bowgun this time around.

Whats better for solo players, Light bowgun or heavy?

depends on what you want, more damage or more mobility.

I have no idea. It's probably just sent at random.

I usually would rather more damage, well I still do.

Heavy bowguns are more slow but have more raw damage, light bowguns have more elemental damage usually, and generally shoot/reload faster, right? is the speed of the light bowgun and elemental damage advantage overall better than the pure raw power of the heavy bowgun? I figure with light bowgun maybe you can get more bullets in.

Does anyone know if elemental damage is better than raw damage? like obviously if the monster is weak against it.

If the monster is resistent to the element though you're stuck doing less damage. It is honestly best to have multiple weapons for all situations. I have a slime great sword when I'm trying to grind for rare drops, long sword for fire weakness, a sword sheild for poison, a switch axe for exhaust, and a light blow gun for elemental damage.

I'm guessing it's for those who got MH3 earlier(and registered the game on Club Nintendo). I actually got a while back and ended up getting the codes

I actually have 3 more codes if anyone's interested

Turns out my friend with an Xbox One got the download codes... But I didn't... Nintendo wat? Any way he gave them to me and I distributed them accordingly to my friends and girlfriend/fiancé. I must say the charge shield is cool but I love the weird insect staff thingy. I'm a ninja *flips around making sounds like a 5 year old*

Oh man, I just took on the Gore Magala and I have to say, that was probably one of the most intense hunts I have ever done. Wow, I just can't find the words to describe it. Managing to get the full back attack off succesfully was so satifying, and the charge blade just feels so right and gah I can't help but love this game!  They really have improved upon nearly every aspect that the previous games had to offer. I cannot wait until the full release. Radiance, I cannot thank you enough for the demo code, this really made me remember what brought me into this game in the first place and has cemented my place as a hunter for a long time to come.

My experience:

I'm the scout of the friend group, friend a is the trapper, and friend b is the beserker. I walk in the area scouting out locations to place traps while keeping at a distance I think is safe enough. Turns out Gore Magala has way better senses than I expected. Out of nowhere it flies at me screeching and I start diving off cliff yelling for back up. It drops on me and I try fighting close with a ranged weapon and die as my friends get in. It moves to fast for traps to be placed and we all get our teeth kicked in.

I just grabbed my charge blade and ran in fighting, with no strategy in mind.  xD I beat him with about seven minutes left, and wow was it crazy. There was a part of the fight where all the color seemed to loose its saturation, but in an intentional way and it made the fight seem a lot more cinematic. I even got his tail off near the end.

What does his darkness spray/cloud do? I don't see a difference when I'm hit?

I have no idea, I noticed when I got hit by it, there was a build up of something under my name and a symbol where blights would be, nulberries lowered the state of the build up, but didn't halt it. Once it was fully built up, the blight symbol was replaced by a different one, and I don't know what that did either.

"Gore Magala's most unique ability, and its main form of offense is the ability to produce Frenzy Virus that can infect both hunters and monsters alike. The virus is known to transmit in two ways; through Gore Magala's fur which it scatters about like pollens, and through its breath attacks, in which it blasts out condensed spheres of virus that explode on impact. Gore Magala can also leave pools of the virus in surrounding areas, which will infect careless hunters who accidentally step into them. Once infected, the hunter will slowly be consumed by the virus, which when reached full incubation, will negate natural recovery (red health regeneration) for a period of time. Before the virus can take over, the hunters must either consume a Nulberry to delay the effect, or overcome the illness completely by keeping on attacking Gore Magala until the virus is cleansed. By ridding the virus through repeated attacks, the hunter will also be rewarded with an increase in affinity, as well as an immunity to the virus for a short period of time. There are currently no other means of curing the virus."

Okay, that makes sense. I did notice some differences with the health during Gore, since he was the only one I was really keeping an eye on my health for, but I had figured that it may have been just a change in the game in general.

The real fun happens when that virus hits another monster, it take them over turns them a darker shad and they enter an eternal rage mode. I didn't get to see it personally, but you can seen it happen in the trailer:

Man I love this game, I never met someone IRL who knows, let alone likes it...

My favorite monster to fight is the Rathalos. I like his armor set as well. I'm currently trying to learn how to use the long sword and the lance. Any pointers?
