gaming What video games should I buy?

Okay ponies. I have 80 bucks, an xbox 360, and am looking to get some games, but there are just too many options and I cant decide which ones to buy. I have played most of the zelda games, skyrim, far cry 3, fallout new Vegas, the portal games, and mindcraft. I like sci fi and fantasy, rpgs, and first person shooters. I don't have a problem with hard or difficult games, in fact i enjoy them the more challenging. So give me any recommendations you have in as much detail as possible. Thanks for the help.

I actually don't play games much these days, much to my dismay, but I for some reason enjoy watching other people with more free time/money than me review them. Personally my recommendations are XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Bioshock Infinite. The former being a well-recieved turn-based tactical game where you defend the planet earth from alien invaders and manage your defences/resources/etc, and the latter being a fairly liked first person shooter thing that I think is a fairly RPG-esque and set in a floating city in the early 1900's.

There's a lot of games out there. I'll just throw a few in and you decide if they're the types of games you wanna play.

The Saboteur

Zone of the Enders HD Collection

Anarchy Reigns (easy achievements, if that's your thing)

RAGE

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Dark Souls 1 & 2

Most, if not all of these should be pretty cheap too. Especially on sale.

It should be noted that I'm just kinda throwing games out there until I get a feel for what kinds of games you like. The few you listed are ones I've only played a little.

RAGE is probably a good choice if you like both FPS' and RPGs though.

If you would like to Roleplay please Private message me, I only like one on one Roleplays cause groups get overwhelming and becoming attention contests, I like to rp with people equally.

If you like grindy RPGs, I would like to recommend Destiny. It's a FPS sci fi shooter that with friends can be a blast to play, especially the end game raids

I like sci fi and fantasy, rpgs, and first person shooters

Fallout 3/ Fallout: New Vegas. Last time I checked, they weren't too costly at most stores, were made by the same people as Skyrim, and fit all of those categories. The two are fairly similar, though, and I'd personally say that New Vegas is the better of the two (though much more difficult).

Also, it's a download title, but Dust: An Elysian Tail is possibly one of the best games I've ever played. I cannot recommend that game highly enough. It's fairly short, but between the story, artwork, soundtrack, gameplay, and any other feature I'm forgetting, it truly is a must-have.

If you weren't previously a fan of the Max Payne series, Max Payne 3 is a pretty good game by itself. When compared to its predecessors, though... It doesn't deserve to be a Max Payne game. :okiedokielokie:  That said, I believe both Max Payne 1 and 2 are backwards-compatible with the 360, and they're pretty old, so they may not be terribly expensive.

It's a pretty niche game admittedly, but Brutal Legend is also really good. I mean, you play as fictional Jack Black slaying demons and crap using a guitar and an ax while trying to restore peace and metal music to the land. Sounds epic, right?  :P

Aside from those, though, I'd say your standard Halo 3 and Gears of War series should do. Be sure to do your research on any recommended titles, though. Just because others think a game is good, doesn't necessarily mean you will too. And there's nothing worse than wasting your money on a game that sounded good, but that you don't like.

I'm talking to you, Pokemon Battle Revolution (for the Wii).

@,

I should think it's obvious that one should research recommendations, honestly. You never know when someone is recommending based on an anti-genre agenda or hyping up a game they literally just played and haven't come down from their contact high yet.

Brutal Legend is always a good choice imo. If nothing else it takes a very interesting design choice that sadly most other games are too afraid to even try. The soundtrack is also muy bueno. Personally, it got me back into metal when I was falling away from it. The only stuff I ever heard was crap on radios. I never thought much of ACDC or Metallica and they are the two most popular bands to play on any radio station. Brutal Legend introduced me to so many new bands and genres and I haven't stopped listening to it since.

Ooh! I totally recommend these (Sorry if im too opiniative, I just wanna add my thoughts)

  • Brink (there's mixed opinions on it, personally I enjoyed it but it does get boring after a while. Its a futuristic parkour fps thingy. Its pretty cheap)
  • Borderlands 2 (soooo fuuunnnn. great story and side-quests just yes highly recommend)
  • Fable 2 (This game is amazing imo. Lots to do and keeps you playing with its attractive colors and welcoming atmosphere)
  • Halo: Reach (great game, great story, great multiplayer too)
  • Any GoW game
  • Assassin's Creed is sweet
  • Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 are great too

I would recommend minecraft

Minecraft is a sandbox game created in Sweden by Markus "Notch" Persson, You can build anything you wish and fight the hostile mobs.

Creative is all about creating anything with unlimited resources while survival is all about building with limited resources to survive from the hostile mobs.

There is minecraft for Xbox 360- Trust me I have it

here is a link to the minecraft wiki- www.minecraftgamepedia.com

terraria is similar but with a rpg feel, here is a link to it's wiki- Terraria.wiki.com

Alan Wake
-Dark Mysterious action game that relies on its narrative and atmosphere more than combat and guns.
AlanWake_05_Moon_720p.png
XCOM Enemy Within
- Hardcore tactical rpg that forces you to make tough choices and keep your troops from dying. I've seen a lot of recomendations for enemy unknown, but Enemy Within is  Enemy Unknown with all the dlc packs prepurchased for the same price.

Just Cause 2
-You don't have to play the first one, but it is like an 80's action movie in a game. It's an open world sand box and shit's blowing the fuck up everywhere.

You mentioned you enjoyed "difficult" and fantasy, have you ever tried Dark Souls? I would recommend it especially if your up for a severe challenge, it's very unforgiving.  :okiedokielokie: A third person fantasy style game. There is a Dark Souls II and enough DLC for both to keep you busy. Cheap price now, only buy if your willing to commit to it.

Other than that you've played the other games I was going to recommend.
