How would the MLP be different if no men watched the show?

Probably the exact same, but without nods to the older male fans. A lot less Derpy, but probably just as many pop culture references for the parents watching with their kids.

As for a fandom, well, there's always been an MLP fandom consisting of (mostly) women who grew up with Gs 1-3 who would still be active online, trading figures, buying, etc. I believe MLP toy collecting is very popular and many fans have been collecting for years. So yeah, there would be a fandom.

As for changes, that's hard to say. Some fans say season 3 was nothing but brony pandering, but I didn't get that impression.

I feel like should be here. :derp:

Probably not different at all, considering all the evidence Q has collected in his blogs that proves the show is not, in fact, made for little girls, but families. So, ignoring all us creepy old bronys who don't have children, the show is still aimed at children AND their parents. :)

(Sorry to steal your thunder, Q.)

Honestly I don't think it would be THAT much different, but I do think some elements wouldn't exist. Take season four for example.

1. The S4 premier would probably have not had the Nightmare Moon segment.

2. The Derpy cameos would likely be reduced.

3. The fight in Twilight's Kingdom might have been toned down.

4. Episodes like Power Ponies, Daring Don't, and Equestria Games probably would not have seen the light.

Probably more things as well. Not to mention no IDW comics. ;_;

Probably not too different in my opinion.  However if the audience wasn't as noisy about the show as bronies are then I'd expect it to not last as long as it would how it is now (fewer seasons)

This is what I personally think

there would be no fandom because the Male make up most of the fandom

I don't think the Pegasister could of come up with the fandom on their own (not to be sexist they could of done it but its just unlikely) hell I don't even know if there would of been many Pegasister if there were no Brony

and episodes would be more like how they were in Season 1 when their main audience was children (less action, little to no Derpy, and worst of all Pinkie Pie's humor most likely wouldn't of improved)

The show would be running off of nothing but its intended audience so it wouldn't be dead but it wouldn't be as popular as it is today

here is a quick answer though

the show wouldn't be half as famous

The fandom would be a good deal smaller, media wouldn't really pay much attention to it (girls watching a little girls show, how do we make fun of that?), and you'd actually be able to search for a pony on Google Images without Safe Search and not see something that makes you not want to live on this planet anymore.  And possibly the disappearance of the male audience would make the remaining adult fans too few in number to make the number of adult collectibles/merchandise we've seen economically feasible.

It's hard to say how much of the show's success came from bronies.

I do think that there would definitely be less fan service like Derpy, though.

Most likely, the show wouldn't have as much attention as it does if it weren't for the older fans. Especially since the show usually only airs on relatively unknown networks.

Then again, the MLP brand existed long before FiM, so this probably means that not too much of the story would change,

You called, @@Koukatsu? :P

Please take a look at my blogs that Koutasku posted above. They explain a lot about what FIM is (including the fact that this current generation is for all ages/families instead of one specific demographic like G3).

If male and female bronies didn't exist, the following would've been MUCH smaller. Consequently, FIM would've remained stuck as a niche program (and wouldn't have large media attention, including conventions like BronyCon, BUCK, GalaCon, and Everfree Northwest) and so would The Hub. You can't chug along with only dedicated collectors from past generations; you stagnate the product this way.

Some other things probably wouldn't exist, too, like season four (maybe three if Hasbro thought FIM merely bled money?), Derpy, third-party merchandise from places like Funko and WeLoveFine, and IDW's FIM comics. I can't even think of FIM anymore without some of the very mature messages from season four anymore.

Also, chances are we wouldn't be seeing an FIM movie in 2017.

Would it still be a good show? Damn straight. Would it sustain? I'm not sure. Become pop culture lore? Nope.

Except that there has been an mlp fandom for a long time.

Here's an example.

http://ponyrescuehome.proboards.com

Some of those posts predate 2010 and some of those fans probably continued their love of the franchise with G4.

I definitely agree that the fandom exploded and became much bigger thanks to G4. The fandom may not have been that big before, but bronies joined, not created, the mlp fandom.

Gotta respect the OGs, even if G1-3 were not that great...

Haha

- Probably less celebrity appearances

- No noticeable fandom

- Guys who will watch it will have a much harder time admitting that they like the show compared to now

- The only adults watching it will be the parents of daughters who like the MLP toys

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

I think most of the stuff that was said here dosen't need to be repeated by me, since it's not necessary.

But there is one thing that would make me curious. Would the series be over by now, if it weren't for us?

Because i think it would have after S3.

IMO, more CMC episodes, more Pinkie, especially like episode 15 "Feeling Pinkie Keen".  "Super Speedy Cider Squeezy" was a homage to Music Man, "MMMystery on the Friendship Express" referenced Murder on the Orient Express.  I don't think little girls get the references (WAY before their time), so maybe not those episodes.

Also, I get the impression it was a close call for Season 4.  With fewer viewers (& thus less revenue), I think Episode 65 "Magical Mystery Cure" would have been the series finale.

I think kids like G4 enough. As far as I know, the show will keep going as long as the toys keep selling, which are mostly bought for kids. I hear mostly negative comments about the Hasbro toys from Bronies.

I think the older-oriented merch sales like the Funko figures and Hot Topic shirts pales in comparison to the kid toys sales.

I am curious to see if that belief is true or false and by how much.
