general media Boring Invincible Characters

And as for Supes, I can't comment as much because I'm not much of a DC comics person and haven't read/seen much of his stuff, but I do really like the idea of Superman. Idealistic heroes with strong principles that they stick to might've fallen out of style, but that makes the ones we have left even more important. I like being able to relate to my heroes, but I also like it when they make me want to better myself.

You have my undying loyalty.

Though Hogans character was saved in '96 when he turned against the fans and became Hollywood Hogan, leader of the n.W.o.

Then his character got unsaved when he became a Villain Sue with a fingerpoke finisher and helped kill WCW.

Superman. I mean he has no personality, and is just born invincible from birth.

In fairness, he wasn't invincible from birth. His super powers come from exposure to our "yellow" sun. (The sun is not actually yellow, it just looks that way through the Earth's atmosphere.) On his home planet, where he was born, he was a fairly ordinary baby.

But I agree, he's massively overpowered, and thus pretty dull.

His one vulnerability is kryptonite, a material which is supposed to be vanishingly rare on our planet, yet somehow manages to make its way into almost every Superman plotline.

I always far preferred Batman over Superman.

Actually no he has another weakness, or at least this is something he has no resistance too, is magic. He has no defenses against this, and lets be honest for any with a knowledge of the DC universe there are those with magic. Heck a major annoyance that none of Superman's powers can defeat is that of Mister Mxyzptlk, actually a villain that shares much in common with Discord, in which the only way to defeat him/have him go away is trick him into saying his name backwards.

Also he does not have to be dull and often times, in the comics at least, he has not been dull. What you need for a superhero like Superman moral issues for him to overcome and have his moral code prevent him from using all his strength or he will kill people. Where he must overcome challenges not by punching it but by teamwork and be an example for others to follow. Where he has to face powerful and dangerous threats that his powers do not allow him to overcome without innocent lives getting killed, forcing him to overcome such challenges in different ways.

Superman is not supposed to be the 'relatable' and 'gritty' hero but one that people are inspired by, the moral hero with all the power in the world who constantly has to hold back or he will hurt if not even kill people. That his strength is so great that he has to focus on not tearing of a head with a single punch or have every bone in a person's body. Where he could take over the world and 'fix the worlds problems' but doesn't because of his morality. He is a hero that is forced to hold back, to make sure he cannot ever allow himself to become corrupted or people will suffer. That is in many ways why superman still works

Also. I again post this video

On all those mentioning Superman, I have this video to offer:

Kaname Tōsen of Bleach

He always seemed to lack something in being a "bad" guy....

Buu of DBZ

He was just a pink mass who wanted to eat and fight and had no real "drive"...

Don't know why being a powerful, good person is so horrid.

And that's really all supes is. He's a good man with unlimited power who has to face the fact that he still can't save the whole world.

And then blames himself when he doesn't because he figures he just didn't try hard enough. It's hard to have so much ability and the admiration of so many, and still let some of them down, despite the fact that you couldn't have done anything differently anyway.

For me, it's like seeing a Mary Sue/Gary Stu OC. It's boring. "His only weakness is this....but it's almost nowhere to be found, except when unexplained villains appear with it."

I agree. On top of that, the whole Justice League seems pretty dull (except Flash). Spiderman has more personality in his pinky than most of the Justice League have in their whole bodies.

Also, the later parts of the Dragonball series are pretty lame and boring as well. What use is character death when everyone can just be revived anyway. One Piece is a million times better, if someone dies, they stay dead, and certain character deaths have a million times more impact than any death in the Dragonball series.

Then his character got unsaved when he became a Villain Sue with a fingerpoke finisher and helped kill WCW.

A common misconception. While that did piss off the fans, it wasn't the catalyst for WCWs demise. Even at it's lowest, WCW was still pulling 2.0-3.0 in ratings, several million viewers. That's around what WWE draws now. It was still the highest rated program on Nitro. But Time Warner management didn't wan't to have wrestling anymore. So they cut the funding and sold the rights to Vince McMahon.

But nepotism, creative control, lack of dedication by the creative staff, and that bright idea, did hurt the company.

Well, the main six are pretty much invincible at this point when they do the rainbow power thing :T

Which is why a lot of people don't like the Rainbow Power thing, myself included (the ponies also look overly garish when under the effects of the rainbow power but that is a separate issue).  I was actually really happy when the main six had to give up the Elements of Harmony in the season premier because any further use of them would have just meant a lazy way out of an otherwise good story for the writers.  Sadly, they undid this decision by giving the Rainbow Power to the ponies, which instantly resolved the series final for them.  I would have prefer the ponies somehow outsmarting or otherwise finding a way around Tirek's power like they did magic duel with Trixie.

Count me in the Superman thing, never liked the character. While there are different versions of him and he does now have weaknesses, his entire character and the idea behind it is just...irritating. Also, John Cena...main reason I stopped watching WWE.

I am having a hard time thinking of anyone else right now, even though there are plenty characters like this...Especially in anime and comics.
