Foliha 395 February 1, 2015 Share February 1, 2015 How many of you are a little bit horse crazy? (or a lot horse crazy) Were you into horses before MLP? I've been horse crazy most of my life - especially Gypsy Cobs and Arabians. Was likeing horses a motivation to check out MLP? Starbuck - my favoritest horse in the real world... HorsesandMOARGaloar 300 February 17, 2015 Share February 17, 2015 (edited) I may be a man, but I am horse crazy. I am more into Shetland ponies, their psychology, and comparing them to Heavy Weapons Guy from the videogame "Team Fortress 2".For me, it is quite the inverse: MLP made me like horses more (not the other way round), because I would enjoy imagining how the MLP ponies and horses would treat each other. It, and some weird G-Mod videos online, also made me enjoy daydreaming on throwing horses into extremely weird scenarios -- they end up becoming the subjects of my eccentric jokes. At least I appreciate a topic as fun as this one! ShadOBabe 19,028 February 17, 2015 Share February 17, 2015 I don't think I can qualify as horse crazy. But I've liked horse ever since I was a little girl. They're just gorgeous animals. I love the REALLY big ones the most. I got to see a real life shire once, and I was just blown away by how big it was. Ice Fox 1,146 February 17, 2015 Share February 17, 2015 Not that fond of them particularly, but they are kinda cool. And like with most animals, it is enjoyable to watch them interact with each other. More than anything, I feel sympathy for real life horses ( the ones used for work. )
VitalSpark 1,830 February 17, 2015 Share February 17, 2015 I have little interest in real horses. Though I've long thought it a shame that people no longer use them as a form of transport. I mean, you see people riding horses from time to time, but you don't see them hitched up at the supermarket when someone's popped out to buy a couple of pints of milk and a loaf of bread. ~VitalSpark~ [fimfiction] [deviantart]
Jammo 986 February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 I took care of them for a good chunk of my life. I have very mixed opinions on them. They can be real jerks. Like no respect for space, looking for reasons to kick and trample people bad.

I have to say that geldings are far easier to both ride and look after; mares can get really moody and yes, they do get PMS. XD Signature and avatar by Pucksterv. CC_Maud_Pie 6,431 February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 I wouldn't say I was crazy about them. But I thought they were interesting animals since you can ride on them. Liking horses wasn't a motivation to check out MLP. It was more about trying to find out what the fuss is all about. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

XD We had a gelding who deliberately back his flank up to people, getting so close and just waited for us to give him a reason to kick. It's the horse equivalent of someone aiming a gun at your face to act tough. "I can kill you now in a second. Now what?" CaptainDoubloon 857 February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 When I was a lot younger I used to love collecting horse figurines and took horse back-riding lessons. I still like horses but not as much as I did. I am crazy over the MLP ponies, however. ^^ Also, can I add that I've always liked Centaurs? Not quite the same thing but still they are half-horse. Creamy Arty 6,252 February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 This thread and the discussion it has created is a wee bit more about generic horse discussion than anything else, so I'm going to shuffle it over to General Discussion. 1 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Sipenda 66 February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 I grew up in a family that every member of the family had between 2-15 horses (and a few ponies). As a kid, I got to spend weeks of my life in emergency rooms from accidents from my family members getting injured (nearly lost my mother twice due to the horse she was riding tripping and rolling on top of her cracking her skull and leaving her in a Coma for a week). Myself, getting sewn up more times than I can count do to horse related “accidents”. Watching a horse get air lifted out of a canyon (27,000 bucks for a 500.00 horse) for emergency surgeries. I can pretty much attribute 95% of the suffering in my life to the 4 legged glue sticks. In addition as my family was not particularly wealthy, there were many times if I wanted to eat, I had to work in after to school just to get food because the poor little horsies can't get food on their own. 5 horses at 125 bucks each (because the ponies can’t live without top of the line name brand grain) a month budgeted food, kid less than 30 some months. The level of hatred I have for horses is pretty much unappalled by anything on this planet. That said, Rarity is the best pony! (yes I'm aware of the irony that I like MLP and can't stand the sight of a 4 legged glue stick in real life)
Justin_Case001 4,934 February 19, 2015 Share February 19, 2015 I love them. That Starbuck is really goreous. Amazing muscles! Looks like a Friesian. I took care of them for a good chunk of my life. I have very mixed opinions on them. They can be real jerks. Like no respect for space, looking for reasons to kick and trample people bad. I can definitely sympathize with this. I ride at a public stable, and I've spent a lot of time there, just hanging out with the horses. I've actually gotten depressed many times at seeing how mean they can be to each other. Some of them are real bullies, and it pisses me off. I know it's wrong to feel that way about an animal. They can't help it. They're not trying to be evil, but it's still upsets me. For instance, we have one horse there who is very old, very arthritic, and also very sweet. He's the kindest, gentlest soul you could ever know. The real life Fluttershy. Some new recruits were put in his pen awhile back, and they turned out to be bullies, and they would drive him away from the food trough. They'd kick him, bite him, chase him into the corner. The poor thing would run from them, each step being agony from the arthritis. The stable owner was furious about it, and put a stop to it immediately. I've studied a lot about equine behavior, and I understand all the herd hierarchy stuff and everything. Still pisses me off. I actually stopped riding, in part, because of stuff like this. There are many other reasons, though. But part of it was just wishing you could tell them to be nice to each other. I think I always had trouble accepting the limitations of animals, and not being able to communicate with them like people. I dunno. I'm rambling and probably not making sense. Horse 63 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 A thread dedicated to me?!No but seriously. I have been riding since I was 6 and now I'm 17. My horseback riding lessons at the end of the week have always been my reward for enduring a week of school. Horseback riding summer camp is the reward for enduring a year of school.
