Tachyon particles are what light is made out of, but unless there is something blocking its way, light never stops moving at its constant speed, but Rainbow Dash moves on her own, light doesn't, so what do you think, does Rainbow Dash break the laws of anti-physics, I mean tachyon particles aren't matter, so they're not physical. In sonic rainboom and the cutie mark chronicles we hear the blast before we see the rainbow. What happens in a sonic rainboom is that Dash initially breaks the light barrier (when the rainbow cone appears), then the sound barrier (when the shockwave blasts the rainbow away as a ring). Relativity also doesn't apply in Equestria's universe, hence why it's physically possible for dash to go faster than light. She can create rainbows by collecting water on her feathers and quickly dispersing it around her. The sunlight does this when it hits the water. When she travels super fast, she collects a mass amount of water on her, when going sonic boom, the sound waves force the water outward making the rainbow.
