gaming MLP Games: What do you guys want to see?

Well you certainly have my full moral support, because it sounds like a kickass concept. As much as I love a great 3D platformer, 2D platformers will always have the most special of places in my heart, thanks to the games I grew up with (particularly Mega Man, arguably one of the greatest 2D platforming franchises of all time).

 

If you ever get anything set in stone and end up needing a musical score, I'd be more than happy to provide my services.

Hopefully Wayforward the company currently making the new Shantae video games will be the ones to make the possible MLP FIM video game.

For starters they stated in an interview or something that they were interested in making one so that would be pretty nice actually.

I think the most likely or game I would like to see would be a side scrolling platform game that plays similarly to Hey Ice King Why Did You Steal Our Garbage or like I mentioned the recent Shantae games.  There would be some puzzle solving, special moves to get through obstacles and defeat enemies such as as diamond dogs, parasprites, teenage dragons, manticores, changelings and more.  There would be a shop system where you could purchase upgrades to abilities and hearts to regain health and maybe some kind of stamina or magic bar system to fill.  The game would have you travel to some areas from the show such as the crystal empire, the everfree forest, ponyville which would be the hub, and new areas made for the game.  There would be dungeons and bosses to defeat.

And that is all that I would have to say what a hypothetical game would be like.

Does anybody know if Hasbro has copyright claims to their generic pony models?  They obviously own all the actual characters that appear in the show, along with the name and setting, but I wonder if the art style itself can be claimed as IP under copy right law.  If not anybody could construct generic pseudo-medieval fantasy settings filled with a bunch of OCs free of legal challenges as long as they did not have their hearts set on incorporating actual FiM characters in their games.

I would think so, but not so sure. The animation style they use now is owned by them. But i have no idea about generic styles.

          I'd defiantly want to see a 4X/RTS game involving conquering everything from Saddle-Arabia to the Crystal Empire. There would be three factions, The Solar Empire, The Lunar Republic, and the United Pony Workers Front. The plot would centre around an argument that aroused from within the royal family, causing a war between Celsestia and Luna (sound familiar?). With each of the royal princesses calling their banners, the normal ponies find they have been ruled by immortal tyrants for far to long, and take up the opportunity to strike while the royal powers are at their weakest. Obviously this would never get done by hasbro, so maybe some indie developers could take up the mantle.

It would be kind of cool if Hasbro did a Kingdom Hearts type of thing, in which you play an original character travelling through all the worlds (properties) that belong to Hasbro recruiting heroes from each world to join your party as you fight against evil.

But for something MLP based, why not a classic style RPG that involves a story, combat and puzzle solving as you play a party of the main six on a quest. Each pony of course would have special skills. Taking cues from South Park Stick of Truth would certainly not hurt.

I hate to burst everybody's fun bubble on MLP Forums, but LoE will never be released. When you're and indie Dev you don't start off with a fucking MMORPG as your first game, you just don't, and from the last time I played to the last playable stress test nothing has changed. The game is still glitchy as all hell, the server crashes constantly, and there is hardly anything to do.

I guess i'll be more specific, if hasbro ever decided to do a game, and that's a really big if. What would you think they would do? They won't ever allow a game unless you payed them to.

Why not make it a platformer? Get a good developer, make some very nice platforming elements, where you can use all of the mane 6 and then sell it for the Xbox One/PS4/Wii U and maybe even PC.

it would yes, but you'd still need permission to even attempt it, anything Hasbro sees as a threat is given a C&D on the spot. But its not like anybody is hurting them directly, if they only see what people could do for them, they'd be more open. But thick skulls are never easily gotten through.

I'd love to see a detailed, open-world MLP game that looked exactly like the show. It wouldn't have to be 3D or anything, I'd be happy with a 2D sidescroller. 

 

The best example of this I've found in fan works is the Fiends of Dream Valley MLP fan game. Unfortunately, it was never finished. I'm not sure if it's even possible to download the files for it anymore, but I have it saved on my computer. Even though the version I have is only the beginning, I still play it from time to time as it has some very beautiful, relaxing, ambient qualities.

MLP RPG that runs along side the Main show storyline. Like, you take a part behind most of the Mane 6 actions secretly without ever realizing it. That'd be cool.
