What was your childhood dream when you were a child what did you dream of being, or dreams you may have thought your future would be like. I always wanted, and dreamed of getting into Psychology I love the human brain, and all it can do. It is truly awesome.

  • 9 years later...

I technically made mine happen this year. I always wanted to be an author. I was able to get some in on a future compilation being published next year. Under a pen name of course. I worked 12 hours on my original submission which was rejected. Deadline was end of November and I had only found about this at the middle of November. If I was going to make it happen I had limited time. I woke up at midnight with an idea. Worked on it nonstop from midnight till 3pm. Sent it in and a week later it was approved. I knew this one was better. I have a lot of respect for the author putting it together in this field who looked over my submission and is doing this. This opens a door for me. If she didn't see potential in me she would not have let me in on this.

While being in a compilation isn't what I envisioned as a kid. It's a start.

My childhood dream was to have a collection of vintage computers and video game consoles, including at least one computer for each major Windows version in existence as well as Macintosh computers that I thought were interesting (such as the colorful Macintosh computers from the late-90s/early-2000s, the iMac G4, and the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh).

In a way, I'm now living this dream because I have a collection of those items, albeit not in the scale that I imagined when I was younger. Part of it is due to me losing interest in retro computing and another part is how expensive a lot of those things became in the years that followed (and some of them have always been expensive, even when I was a kid). You can tell how nerdy I was back then.

I had a billion different dreams growing up, but I have always wanted to be strong, though not in the physical sense.

As of right now, I have a decent amount of strength and stamina to do many things as I'm young, but there are tons of people much stronger than me.

Going back to the topic, I still do not think I am strong enough to do what I want to do in life. At least not yet.

I wanted to be a veterinarian until I was about 12. Then an Air Force officer and pilot. I didn’t do or wasn’t able to do either of those things, so I’ve settled for a slightly more achievable dream goal of one day being able to help rehabilitate bats.

In my childhood, I always wanted to become a fire fighter. When I was a teenager, I finally became a member of the youth fire departmend in my region. But thanks to my healthy conditions, I had to break up with this dream years later.

Growing up, I've wanted to be a computer repairman. Looking back, I'm glad that didn't happen. Working on computers has been pretty stressful for me and there are certain aspects of newer computers that make them harder to service compared to older computers.

When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut and fly to the ISS. I remember watching astronauts training for space flight on TV.

When I was really little I wanted to do lots of things; railroad engineer, firefighter, cowgirl, etc. But the seeds of the first real dream came when I was 6 years old and visited Disneyland for the first time. I met Cinderella and was so blown away it changed everything for me. I wanted to be a princess so bad! When I got a little older and realized that people like me could become royalty in that context I was hooked on the idea. That was my big dream for most of my teenage years until it got put on the back burner and more or less forgotten. When I was in my early twenties, the dream, by no action of my own, was rekindled. I’ve worked at Disneyland in one capacity or another for a decade now. Dreams never die, they just need dusting off once in a while.
