Have you ever accidentally swallowed something that wasn't food?

I just swallowed one of my tongue spikes while I was eating goldfish. I didn't even know until I ran my tongue across the back of my teeth and noticed one was missing. Oh well. I hope my orthodontist will finally take these things out at my next appointment now.

I don't recall that ever happening to me. I heard that my brother swallowed a loose tooth in his sleep, because it was nowhere to be found after he woke up.

At first I thought that you were eating real goldfish(!?!?) until I remembered the "goldfish" cracker. msg-8308-0-76652000-1382912179.png

I once swallowed a piece of red thread once. I was chewing on like it was some kind of new gum and my brain thought it would be hilarious to make it's host choke on it. I panicked and tried to regurgitate it. That day was not my finest moment of my life especially when everyone in my classroom was starin and laughing at me... thank goodness I was 6 at the time.

I think most have swallowed a fly at least once. Those things are idiots, and don't know what they're getting into.

I've swallowed money on accident plenty of times. I pay for a bag of chip's when i'm hungry on a Friday night hanging with my homies and i just get so hungry i start eating before i put the change in my pocket so i hold the money in my left hand and at with my right till i forget it's money toss it into my other hand without looking at it thinking it's food since I'm to lazy to look and i normally swallow on accident since i freak out when i get a cold piece of metal in my mouth when I'm expected to eat a chip. I'm not worried about what swallowing this much change will do to me but I'm only worried about how many bags of chips i could have bought with it.

I am sure that I swallowed many non food things when I was really small.  This doesn't really count, but it was freaking disgusting.  I spent a couple of years in Romania, where one of the treats they had were small chocolate dipped waffles with sugarcubes on the inside.  I took a HUGE bite out of one once, and much to my surprise, it was completely riddled with mold.  I didn't even realize until I had swallowed at least half of the waffle.  DISGUSTING! :eww:

These days, the world has a tendency of taking itself much too seriously.

It is my intention to not follow suit.

I have swallowed a penny as a small child...and I have swallowed other metals throughout my childhood....

these were all accidental.... I learned the hard way not to put shit in your mouth..... I can hear you laughing, I didn't mean literally

not to put anything uneatable in your mouth  -_-

As a child on my dad's old houseboat, I took a sip and swallowed from a coke can that turned out to be filled with used boat oil. No wonder it tasted kind of odd.

I ate lightning once. And then I crapped thunder.

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God, hovering above? At least it is true, that man has no control... Even over his own will.

I swallowed something that isn't supposed to swallowed called gum a few times in my life. Also, when eating sticky candy, I sometimes swallow a little bit of the wrapper.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

technically, those can still count as food.^^

I have probably swallowed hundreds of spiders in my sleep, and flies, and whatever crawls around.

Never swallowed anything as "non-eatable"  like a penny, though.

I think most have swallowed a fly at least once. Those things are idiots, and don't know what they're getting into.

But technically, that's food.  I mean, they're edible.  Insects are packed full of good nutrients.  There's a lot of writings out there about how all the world's hunger problems would be solved if we started eating insects.  It would be drastically cheaper and more renewable than beef/chicken etc.  And the thing is, we're not talking about whole insects.  People have experimented with making insect nuggets and such that are virtually indistinguishable from chicken nuggets.  And they're really healthy as well.  I would totally be game.

Anyway, no, I don't recall swallowing anything non-edible.
