ooc Fallen Canterlot [Title Pending] (An Adventure/Action/Possibly Dark RP)

First off I could like to apologize for not posting today like I promised, I got a virus on my computer last night and unfortunately nothing I did would get rid of it (or even identify it). That's also what I spent most of today trying to do. Eventually I had to format the hard drives and re-install the operating system. The virus made it impossible to use any browser. I'll try to post the world information I have come up with tomorrow.

 

Shit, that's a pretty badass virus. Not saying that sometimes just reformatting isn't a good way to get rid of particularly bad problems, but few viruses are bad enough for that to be necessary. Are you sure it was a virus?

 

 

Anyway, character sheet. He's based off an old character I used waaaaaaaay back in Linguz's Elements of Nature RP, which in turn was based off a character in a fantasy world I build off and on.

 

 

Name: Sillic (Sil for short). Comes from silica, the main component of common glass.

Race: Unicorn

Age: I assume pony ages are analogous to human ages? So like... 38ish?

Appearance: White coat, with a light blue mane and tail, with some grey streaks. He claims they've always been there and that his mane is not going grey, but those who have known him for a long time would swear he has more grey than he used to. His eyes are also light blue.

Backstory: Sillic born to a glassblower. His family, while not wealthy, was not particularly poor; they had enough to get by without too much trouble. When he was old enough, he apprenticed to his father and found he had a natural talent to working with glass, especially molding it into normally difficult shapes as it cooled, allowing him to do with magic what a normal blower would need years of practice to accomplish. He also greatly enjoyed fusing colored glass together in his spare time to make intricate designs, and would occasionally make jewelry. He also worked with his mother in the shop, selling what he and his father made, as well as repairing broken glassware that ponies brought it.

Early in his teens, his parents left on a trip to sell glass at a large merchant fair, leaving Sillic at home to take care of any customers who happened by, but since anybody who was looking to buy would be at the merchant fair, he kept to his room above the shop, working on his own projects. Thinking the place empty, a few ponies broke into the shop to steal some of the more valuable pieces, which got Sillic's attention. He went back down and confronted the thieves, who tried to escape by throwing things and breaking a window. Without thinking much, and not wanting to break even more of his family's stock, Sillic used his magic to send shards of broken glass at them, which cut them up a bit. Scared by the fact that Sillic actually hurt them, they dropped what they had and focused on getting out.

The thieves were an earth and pegasus pony, which has left him with a distrust of the two races. This compounds the regular racist undertones in most of unicorn society.

Seeing as he was a young stallion when this happened, he was shaken but still thought fighting was pretty cool. His parents supported him in the decision to train under unicorn fighters who actually use telekinetic weapons, as it could come in handy if somebody else broke in. To fight, he shapes glass into blades and uses them as a normal telekinetic fighter would. He prefers glass because he already has experience working with it, and it means his weapons are easily concealed as completely regular things.

In his mid twenties, Sillic went back to take over the family business, and became fairly well known among those in similar professions for his creations. He still practices combat in his free time, but doesn't have much real experience. He's been doing this until around the present day.

He also enjoys drinking wine and other more high end alcohols. He's been quoted as saying "If I make a quality bottle, I want a quality drink to put in it."

Cutie Mark and what it means: A piece of glass, red hot in the middle, one side being a broken shard and the other being a vase. Shows his talent for shaping glass, as well as his enjoyment of fighting.

Special Skills or Knowledge: Stuff related to glass and its creation. Knowledge of economics and bartering, seeing as he's also a merchant. Amateur knowledge of alcohol (he doesn't know how to make drinks, but he knows the good from the bad and could identify some by taste).

Profession:

Glass maker and merchant. He lives there.

Inventory: I guess nothing?

 

Preferred Starting weapon: Some quality bottles should suffice

 

 

Now, a few questions and such. First off, glass is a very good electric insulator, so might that translate into being resistant to magic?

Also, I was thinking it might be OP if I can use any random glass as a weapon, so I figure I might put in some caveat with most common glass being too weak to shape with magic without heating it first. Tough, well-made glass can withstand the forces involved in cold-shaping, while weaker stuff just shatters. On top of that, glass isn't really effective if the opponent has even a little armor, unless SIllic can get a face shot or something.

 

Also, why are we in prison?

It was indeed a badass little thing. Super inconvenient and I have a feeling it was also phishing for any info since it redirected to a bunch of pages that looked similar to the websites I tried to access. It also made hyperlinks out of random text. Like "Hey Silver Heart, how are you?" would say "Hey Silver Heart, how are you?" And the link would be to a website that you could buy silver jewelry at for "super low prices". It did this with pretty much every word that could possibly be linked to something. Windbreaker's signature had about eight or nine links in it.

 

EDIT: "Silver" in the second quite was supposed to be blue and underlined. The blue and underline didn't survive me copying and pasting this to an email so I could complete my post on my phone.

 

 

It did that with every page, it also made pop-ups for just about 50%-80% of the screen. However unlike most pop-up programs it made them appear within the browser like regular ads and there was no way to close them. I've never seen anything like it.

 

Also I'm not sure if it was a virus or not. I was just using it as a catch-all, since most people don't know much about malicious software and the like. Like I said, Malwarebytes couldn't find it. Neither could my anti-virus (though that was regrettably Windows Defender, since Trend Micro stopped working when I made the upgrade to Windows 10.)

 

The part that I'm most confused by is how I got it. I haven't got to any websites out of the ordinary nor have I downloaded anything for a few months. Unless it was a worm that went into a "hibernation/gestation period and only activated after some time had passed. Oh well.

Wow good character. You're definitely accepted. I didn't go too much into the detail about the weapons but it seems like you got what I meant by telekinetic weapons. So good job on that. I'll make it resistant to electric magic then. Though if its well-made to be tough the only thing I can think of that if wouldn't be resistant to would be extreme heat followed by extrem cold immediately after. Or vice versa.

 

As for why you are in jail, every players has developed the curse. Since no one is sure if its a curse or a disease any pony found with the disease (it replaces your cutie Mark with a black spot that grows overtime) is to be arrested and quarantined. Eventually y'all will be escorted to a small camp out of the city for the protection of everyone else. You can try to escape though.

Here are some brief summaries, they're a bit outdated but they're pretty close to the final product if it helps to come up with a new character.:

Unicorns: The Unicorns inhabit most of Northern Equestria. As a whole, they value magical abilities very highly. Canterlot is the capital of the Unicorn Kingdom. They are ruled by a Sorcerer King, who is a descendant of Princess Platinum. Beyond being a Federal Monarchy, The Unicorn Kingdom (Was it Unicornia? I can't remember their name) is ruled by a Magocracy (Those who are highly proficient with magic rule over those less proficient.) As a culture they value social status, honor, Intelligence, Magical ability, creativity, and tradition. They dislike pretty much everything that is the antithesis of what they value. They also dislike change that doesn't have an immediate value or advantage to them. Unicorns have a tendency to be elitist towards other races.

There are large gaps between the wealthy and the poor. If you can't do at least some magic you are considered a second-class citizen and worthy of being scorned.

Their King is a direct descendant of Princess Platinum. He leads the movement of the Sun and the Moon every day. As a Sorceror King, he is required by tradition to be an extremely capable mage, possibly even the best of his generation. This is made possible by selectively breeding heirs by marrying other capable mages. Either a Queen or a King may rule, there are no gender-based requirements.

The Unicorns are the most spiritual of the three tribes. The majority (a little more than half) of Unicorns are religious to a certain degree. Their religion is a mixture of Ancestor worship and druidism (Namely the Sun and the Moon).

Since this story takes place in Canterlot, I didn't spend as much time thinking about the other two tribes. I hope they aren't too disappointing.

Pegasi: The Pegasi are a Fascist society. They are very militaristic and value strength and fighting prowess. The Pegasi are traditionalists. They value patriotism, might, discipline, guile, and honor. They dislike cowards, those who forsake honor, the weak, and those unwilling to fight. Even if you're weak, as long as you try to fight (For the Pegasi) that is what matters (to an extent). Pegasopilis' capital is Las Pegasdus, though that's a recent change. Cloudsdale was their capitol. Due to the fact that EarthPonies and Unicorns couldn't reach or visit Clouds dale they made the change. Many of the Traditionalists are unhappy with this decision.

Their leader is also their military leader, a general. All citizens are require to serve in the military, even if they are only support personnel.

Their communities are very tight-knit and the disparity between the rich and poor isn't as noticeable.

As far as religion goes, the majority of Pegasi are not religious. When they are, they usually worship nature gods or the weather.

Pegasi view other races as weak and cowardly. They strongly dislike the Humbleness of the Earth ponies while they feel the Unicorns are too proud for being as weak and reliant on magic as they are. Pegasi are viewed as brutish, violent, and mindless because many are unwilling to question their leaders.

Earth Pony: The Earth Ponies are a Meritocracy. They are ruled by an elected official who is considered their primary diplomat and leader. They gain the title Chancellor. The Earth Ponies are hard-working, creative, and industrious.They value Punctuality, Hard work, Discipline, Creativity, Honesty, and integrity. They dislike cowards, guile, feigned politeness, "backwards" social structures (The Unicorns), and laziness.

The Earth pony capitol is Manehattan

Their communities are also very tight-knit and family oriented. Individualism is respected but it is looked down upon to put yourself before your community.

Earth Ponies tend to worship nature, if they choose to worship. Not very many are religious.

Earth ponies view the other races as too selfish and lazy. Only the Earth pony tribes are willing to do the work for Equestria to flourish.

And actually, Defender is pretty good now. Microsoft Security Essentials is among the best AV programs, and they rolled most of it into the the Windows 8 version of Defender. Only the 8 version, though (and maybe 10, I don't know much about 10 yet). If you're on 7 or earlier, Defender sucks.

Age: I'm not even going to attempt trying to compare and calculate a ponies age to humans, but I would guess 23?

Coat: Bright but a little dull brick red.

Mane and Tail: jet black with bright red streaks running through it.

Eyes: Light blue colour

Other: Has freckles upon her cheeks

 

Backstory:WIP

 

Cutie mark and what it means:

(I doubt fireworks would have been around in "Ye olden days" if Equestria, therefore...)

A song note caught on fire, it represents her talents as an entertainer and her excitable mannerism.

 

Skills and knowledge:

- Acrobatics. A mixture of Military basic training and frequent dancing has toned Cherry's body to be quite flexible, allowing her to be able to perform back-flips, somersaults and a variety of mid-air manouver.

-Songstress. As an Entertainer, Cherry can sing songs at any time, either by request or whenever she feels like it.

Depending on her mood, her singing can lift depressing moods from cheery songs, or inspire courage with songs about past victories.

She does have a tans city for singing at the worst possible moments however.

- Optamistic. Cherry is a very difficult pony to purposely get depressed, as she usually focuses on the feelings if others rather than her own.

Her Optamisum isn't unbreakable however given time, and when it does, usually it takes as much to break it in the first place to fix it again.

Bard, Dancer, Singer, Entertainer

Reason for being in Canterlot:

Looking for work.

 

Inventory: If allowed, her lute, although she has a tenacity to bash drunken ponies over the head with it if they start getting too close and personal, otherwise, nothing.

I mean, like crude ones that would only consist of a container, black powder, and some form of shrapnel, pepples, sharp stines or even tiny shards of crystal?

The age part is just to allow players to know how old your pony is relative to a human. Since we don't know how long ponies live. It just helps to know How old they look. While it's difficult for me to tell (and apparently other people too, since I've seen a wide range of ages for the Mane Six). (From 15-27, if anyone is wondering.)I'm sure ponies can tell just by looking at each other.

 

As for the lite she wouldn't have it on her in the cell but it will be nearby.

 

We went with the first version. It's easier on me since I dont have to think up too much else for it. Though I still think the second one would make for a better story, I'd rather be lazy and do that one some other time.

 

As for explosives, sure they exist. They are rare and powerful though. I wouldn't wate them on weak enemies.

If you're making the RP post now or tomorrow, it might be a while before I can actually jump in. I'm getting swamped with uni stuff right now, so I won't be able to make a detailed post for a while. It'll probably have to be Tuesday before I can make a quick post, although I'd probably want my first post of the RP to be detailed so that might take even longer.

 

I'm also intending to redo Ebony's bio for this RP, since I've discussed some things with Silverheart and changed some things about her. That's also something else I want to get done as soon as possible, since everyone should have the correct information about Ebony. But like with my RP post that could also take a while. Especially since she actually has a backstory now, and those take a while to type up. Although fortunately, I've already worked on this and got most of it done already, so when I finally have time to work on some RP posts it should be finished quite quickly.

Okay, Ebony's up-to-date bio is now ready! Here you go!

 

Note: Some areas of this will differ from her profile from the link in my signature (specifically the backstory and profession). For this RP, refer to what I’ve written below, not to the profile link in my signature.

Also, some of it refers to a place called Nocturne. It's a non-canonical city Silver Heart came up with for bat ponies. In this RP, it's the capital for bat ponies much like Canterlot is the capital of unicorns. Like the earth pony and pegasus capitals, Nocturne probably won't matter in this RP simply because it isn't set there. For Ebony, the main things you need to know about Nocturne are that it's a large underground city, it's got a strong class divide, and jewels are common there due to it being underground.

Name: Ebony

Race: Bat Pony

Age: 20

Appearance: Has a dark green coat and dark yellow eyes. Her mane and tail are mostly black, but have some small green highlights.

Backstory: At a young age, Ebony had a slightly rebellious attitude. Once on a family trip to Canterlot, Ebony disobeyed her parents’ warning that the Everfree Forest was a dangerous place, and went in anyway. By a stroke of luck, she managed to wander deep into the forest without encountering any dangerous plants or animals. But her good luck didn’t last forever, and eventually she came across a group of timberwolves, which then chased her back out of the forest. She dropped a jewel she was carrying as she ran away. This jewel was very precious to her, as it was a gift from her mother, and since she was from the lower class of Nocturne, it was the only jewel she had.

 

When she returned, her parents quickly chastised her for going to the Everfree Forest, and also made it clear it’s too dangerous to go back to recover her jewel. But she wasn’t dissuaded. Once she returned home, she spent much of her time studying the Everfree Forest, mainly on how to stay safe from the creatures and plants within. After a few years, during another trip to Canterlot she returned to the forest and used her new knowledge to safely navigate it looking for her jewel. After a lot of searching, and some close encounters with other creatures in the forest, she eventually found her jewel. Her cutie mark appeared when she picked it up. That’s when she realized she had a knack for exploring dangerous areas few other ponies go.

 

Ebony’s parents worked for a higher-class mistress in Nocturne, and Ebony followed in their hoofprints. Once Ebony got her cutie mark, her parents quickly found a mistress to employ Ebony. As Ebony worked for her, over time they began to develop a close bond. Ebony’s mistress would often send her to run errands in Canterlot, since she knew Ebony liked to visit the Everfree Forest and it was very close to Canterlot.

 

Due to being very uncommon in cities like Canterlot, bat ponies are often treated poorly by other ponies, being considered a ‘sub-pony’ not deserving of respect like a real pony. This common attitude among such ponies has caused Ebony to dislike most non-bat ponies. If they won’t give her a chance, she doesn’t see why she should give them a chance either. Because of this, Ebony prefers to spend her time in the Everfree Forest than in Canterlot, since there are very few ponies to disturb her in the Everfree Forest. The main reason she’d enter Canterlot is to run errands for her mistress, and when she does she tries to complete them as quickly as possible so she can leave Canterlot as quickly as possible.

Cutie Mark and what it means: Two thorny vines side by side, to represent a path through a dangerous place. More generally, the cutie mark represents Ebony’s ability and passion for exploring dangerous natural areas.

Any special Skills or Knowledge: She's knowledgeable about dangerous animals and plants. She's good at picking up on signs that show something dangerous is nearby, and knows how to avoid them. She's also good at finding and picking out useful things in forests and similar places, like food. Because of these skills, she can act as a good scout for a team, especially since as a bat pony, she can fly and echolocate too. However, she's not very good in direct combat.

Profession: She works for a mistress at Nocturne. At the start of the RP, she has been sent to Canterlot to run some errands there for her, but she gets arrested for her cursed cutie mark while she’s there.

Inventory: As a prisoner with no roguish skills, she will have absolutely nothing. She would've probably tried unsuccessfully to sneak some fruit in with her.

 

Preferred Starting weapon: Tail whip.

Ok, something to clarify for everyone in the RP. The red splotches on Phantoms coat are not blood splatters. That is, in fact, coat dye in that ugly stage before it fades and washes out entirely. Please do NOT mistake it for blood, because it isn't.

Phantoms an assassin right? That means he kills others. Blood gets on him. Gloom can smell the hintest of things. It's one of those things that can linger on someone.

For one thing, Phantom bathes. So, he washes off and covers up the smell of blood, precisely because he's an assassin. With the GM's permission, I would also say that he hasn't had a contract in some time, thus he traveled to Canterlot. Furthermore, any lingering smell of blood would be overpowered by the smell of bodily wastes and sweat.

But it's still there. Doesn't matter. Even his a person who works on care most of his life takes a shower every day they still have the sent of oil on them. Same thing can be said about blood. And again, Gloom's nose is very sensitive. He was trained to use it like a bloodhound, mostly to smell magic. But he can smell lots of things. Best not to question these things.

Actually, these are things that should be answered. First off, you wouldn't smell the blood. It's three months old, dulled by regular bathing and applications of coat dye for the first two months, then the stench of urine, feces and sweat from our month in prison. I'm no expert, but I doubt you could smell blood under all that.

 

Another thing, how are you not debilitated by the stench of the dungeon with a sense of smell so good you can pick up 3 month old blood under more powerful smells?

A lot of training and will power to block out some of the more powerful smells. It like tuning onto a certain sound. We can do just about anything with our senses if you put in enough training. And why are you take this so seriously? He just knows that Phantom has at least killed and that's it. It's not really overpowering or anything. Besides, it's not like he can smell a pie cooking across the sea or something.  

 

And even if he didn't smell the blood he could still tell that he's killed by the way he handles a weapon.
