zerox 1,149 July 23, 2020 Share July 23, 2020 I had PayPal since 2006. Needed it for purchases on eBay. I have an eBay account also.
CypherHoof 26,483 July 23, 2020 Share July 23, 2020 Found paypal essential to buy from overseas - UK banks are abusive when it comes to exchange rates, often charging more as a "foreign currency handling fee" than the item costs.... 1 ᚾᛖᚹ ᛚᚢᚾᚨ ᚱᛖᛈᚢᛒᛚᛁᚴ - ᚦᛖ ᚠᚢᚾ ᚺᚨᚦ ᛒᛖᛖᚾ ᛞᛟᚢᛒᛚᛖᛞ
ExplosionMare 18,090 July 23, 2020 Share July 23, 2020 I think credit cards are good for bank loans on houses and cars and all that if you can’t pay the full amount right away Boom!
AppleButt 8,676 July 23, 2020 Share July 23, 2020 I travel a good bit and I’ve found that having a credit card (especially one I earn travel points with) is very handy to have. I use my credit card for every purchase I make and pay it all off at the end of the month. It’s a simple way for me to keep up with how much I’m spending as it has a total amount added up for me. Stone Cold Steve Jobs 22,442 August 5, 2020 Share August 5, 2020 Credit cards are good for establishing credit. The better your credit score, the better your interest rates will be generally speaking. This is helpful when it comes to loans and mortgages. Loans and mortgages themselves can also have an effect on your credit. if you can see yourself as responsibly paying your cards or money owed on time, they’re good for you. 3 And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so! Moondrop 💧 743 August 5, 2020 Share August 5, 2020 I need PayPal pretty often due to my hobbies. Ordering stuff outside of Austria can become super costly - PayPal makes it a lot easier. Not to mention commission works & receipts. However I have never owned a credit card in my life & do not plan to get one (I don't see the point). I have my bank account connected to PayPal, works perfectly fine.
SomeponySparkle 246 August 5, 2020 Share August 5, 2020 I had a brief period around 10 years ago where my only bank account was a savings account. So each month after I got paid, I would have to withdraw enough cash for my monthly bills. Then I would go to the grocery store or post office and buy money orders for each bill - and then mail them off. It worked okay, despite being a bit of a hassle and always having the worry that a money order might get lost in the mail. (Fortunately, they never did get lost.) Now, I have some bills - thinking of my health insurance, for one - where I don't think I could pay by physical check or money order even if I wanted to. And my rent requires an online payment. I couldn't bring them a check or money order each month, the way most of my rents have been paid over the years. "Laughs don't come in barrels. They come from inside you as a response to delight." Ittoni 538 August 5, 2020 Share August 5, 2020 (edited) i don't use credit cards. If i ever do so it would be for an emergency or to build credit for a house or something like that. As for now, only debit card. I do use Paypal too because of how i need my money to get payed. I do various random jobs around the internet and paypal is one of the most solicited ways for you to get payed. I don't know if it's the same everywhere but paypal has changed quite a bit recently so you could previously have your money stored there forever and then you send it to a bank account but now it automatically goes to your bank, they don't keep anything anymore, so it's more like a transfer service. I'm ok with that. They don't really ask much for your transfer. So i have some money in the bank, some in the cards, some as cash. You never know when anything is going to go wrong with either system. So better have a bit here a bit there to not loose everything for whatever reason. and credit cards, I don't understand them but I want to build credit someday, so my plan is to only use them when I'm sure that i have the money to pay immediately, all of it. So like a debit card with more annoying steps. Also there's different types of back accounts you can create. Mine only requires a small fee every month and a minimum amount o money to be there always. So it's pretty basic. doesn't cause me problems Edited August 5, 2020 by Ittoni

Splashee 28,568 August 13, 2020 Share August 13, 2020 Having to deal with cash can become quite difficult, compared to just let the cash machine swipe/scan your credit card
