Diamond Dogs from my knowledge could always tell if a gem is fake. It is a natural part of their instincts.

Ah yeah, that's what I was thinking too, but with the way I typed it, Alex wouldn't have been given a chance to get a close look at them to see that they were fake. It's just the fact that she's never encountered a vendor who like, holds up a part of their cape and is like 'wanna buy a watch' or well, gem in this case. She doesn't know they're untrustworthy, lying little snakes. Back home, people like that didn't exist.

Oh! Also, I know diamond dogs don't have magic, but I kinda tweaked her to have a magical instinct for finding gems. I've hinted at it before and only did so because I figured since she's linked to an element, I could give her a vaguely small kind. Like Rarity's keen ability to find gems. Obviously, Alex doesn't have a glowing horn that drags her to them or whatever, but it feels more like instinct to her rather than magic.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that my character had heard about the elements before (as like a legend or rumor or whatever), but of course, had never seen them since they're WAY before her time. Or maybe someone mentioned them as a joke, so she didn't really believe it. But I dunno. What do you think?

For when Amorè shows up you could ask her about the gem. It has been 100 years sense she last saw the gems.

So she may not have immediately recognized it.

Anyway, about the element of magic. Yeah, Amore has the element of magic right now. It has no power, though, because it needs the other elements to power it.

Still haven't totally decided what's going to be the deal with the elements. There's definitely an element of magic, though.

Well I think once the elements are brought near the ones linked to them then they would respond in some way... if Radiant is the element of magic though not sure if it would react since he doesn't actually have a bond of friendship yet... then again whose to say how those fangled dodads work lol
