Banned because clearly that's not true. Pegasi Guards flew Twi to ponyville and regularly carry 'Tia and Luna, to give another example. But Earthponies are more likely to be proud of their physical strength (as opposed to magical ability or magical wingpower) as shown by (for another example) the Winter Wrapup being done "the earth pony way" instead of using magic like they do at Canterlot.
