Is being famous really all that great?

What do you guys think? The way I see it, there's more drawbacks than benefits to being famous. I don't see why anyone would even want to be famous, really. Money isn't guaranteed to make anyone happy 9expecially once you run out of it, you soon discover who your REAL friends are/ get betrayed by those who called you their friends just cause you were rich), you sell out, to get that fame and notoriety, and fame has always been a fickle B****. Who's popular can be hot sh*** one day, and the object of scorn or disinterest the very next, just like trends. You can't do anything without the paparrazi getting all up in your business, and what you do landing on every news station. You can't say what you want without it getting a pass from lawyers. Stalkers and restraining orders also come with the territory. And as soon as you sign a contract, people OWN you; you get told what to do, what to create, what you can and can't say. The life of the rich and famous just seems like hell. Why would anyone ever want to strive for that?

I wouldn't know, as I am not famous.  But I imagine it might appeal to someone who really likes money.  Someone who doesn't read Facebook / Youtube comments about how hard they suck.

P.S. And the Tweets.  Tweets from twits on Twitter.

Now on the internet like on YouTube I feel like it's not that great to have lots of views on your videos. I feel like the most important part of sharing videos is having fun making them putting your expressions in them. The views and subscriber count don't matter at the end of the day since you can get a lot of views and comments but you could also get lots of downvotes and negative comments that the amount of them doesn't matter to you anymore. It's like getting replies to forum posts, it's exciting to get some at first but when you keep getting so many you realize it's not that exciting.

To me it would depend of the reasons to why you are famous in the first place. If for example you made a positive impact on people or maybe made them laugh or smile or perhaps taught them something good or anything like that, then I think that would be one of the great feelings in the world. If one was famous for something bad, like being really mean or overly harsh or perhaps they said something horrible to someone or a group of people, or something on those lines, then it would be horrendous.

I've never wanted to be famous.  Rich yes, but famous no.  I couldn't handle it.  I wouldn't mind being a fairly big name in the world of game development, though.  I'm sure that that would be fine.  I doubt Notch gets stalked by paparazzi when he goes out.

I could never handle being famous, and I don't want to be. Sure, it'd be nice to be rich but having everyone talking about me gets me pretty anxious.

I imagine not, unless you're famous for something you really enjoy and could keep a positive mindset very easily. jacksepticeye on YouTube comes to mind- making videos as himself and talking to his fans is his life right now, and he loves it. The haters can upset him sometimes, but he can still deal with them and move on and focus on the people that enjoy what he does... I think if you can't do that, then fame won't be pleasant. =/ Though disappointing your fans by not giving them enough attention due to being overwhelmed... I can see that pretty much breaking some people, if they cared about that kinda thing. -_- I doubt fame is really that worthwhile regardless, for how limiting it seems to be. o.o

I haven't seen a single famous person actually being happy. It was mostly promotional stuff that made them look happy, but it was people using them or their talents for money, under strict contracts.

Today, if you have any talents, you will be found quickly, and if you don't look out or read the fine print, your life will be ruined. That's fame for you.
