THIS is why Rarity is a great character. (And best pony IMO.)

While derping around for images of Rarity as usual, I came across this lovely :

I think this is very important, because it shows why Rarity is such an awesome character. Mainly due to the deviation from a stereotypical 'prissy fashionista'. Unfortunately, I personally feel as though she needs more screentime, therefore she'll get more development, and therefore more potential fans.

 

But the sheer factor that Hasbro could put a nice twist on her, and change the stuck-up, upper-class b8tch with a superiority complex, to a nice, generous girl who'll stop at nothing to keep her friends satisfied. 

 

Now sure, there are her moments where she shows the 'upper-class' self. Like in Sisterhooves Social, where she didn't wanna get dirty, but she realized that her sister Sweetie Belle was more than her physical appearance. Which is a big deal, when you consider how much she values how she looks all the time.

 

And just as well, I thought at first that Rares wouod adhere to the stereotype when I first watched the show, but then when they portrayed her better qualities of generosity and inspiration, she was a straight best-pony for me. :grin2:

 

This is because no one has even been like that where I grew up. I have never seen someone so willing to go the extra mile for their friends to RISK THEIR CAREER. (Suited for Success) I fell in love with her character, because I have never seen anything like her in my entire 15 years of existence. Guess that happens if its a Rarity. :comeatus:

I know tgat was bad. But anyway, in conclusion, I hope I've somewhat made some sense here as to why Rarity's so cool. Even if there's still those of you who don't like her, I respect that, and I hope I've kinda given some reason for you to consider bringing Rarity up on you favorite ponies list. If not, oh well, I tried!

Rarity is lovely, beautiful, elegant, selfless and absolutely perfect pony<3 Perfeect pony for me  her stunning gorgeous appearance always makes me happy I love her so much and her personality makes it even more better <3 she doesnt give up hard worker, and she protects her friends she cares for ponies around her she is like an angel radiant  shining beauty <3

Rarity is a really cool character. When i first watched the show, I was like "Theres the stereotypical pretty-girl"

 

But i was thoroughly suprised. She turned out to be what pretty girls could be - not b*tches

 

Just like how rainbow dash showed how athletic people could also be bookies

 

And how Pinkie Pie (the nonsensical stereotype) is actually really smart if people just listen

 

Or how Twilight, even though shes a princess, needs help from others and isnt perfect.

 

Or... Wow, I remember why i got into the show now.

Rarity does break the mold. Her character is deep and well defined.

One part passed up is her responsibility and industry.

 

Rarity is a self employed artist. She runs her own shop and she demonstrates the benefits of hard work. She will work through the night to complete a commission before deadlines. She makes enough to live well. She shows that capitalism isn't so bad.

I agree, her character is something very special, what I find funny is how she came to be.

 

Apparently (and I can't remember where I read this, but hopefully it is accurate), when Faust pitched her idea for MLP, Hasbro insisted that there had to be one who was into dresses etc. This prompted Faust to take that idea, and turn her into what she is today (Generous self-employed business owner). That way she had a deep, and importantly, likeable character - while keeping the Hasbro execs happy 

 

I think it worked out pretty well myself
