Are There Any Other Shows That Have Discussed Friendship As Close As FiM Has?

I'm wondering, have any other shows out there covered morals and lessons about friendship in a way like MLP has, or close to it? And I don't mean the cheesy, fluffy stuff either. I mean covering dealing with, maintaining and making friends and that sort of thing.

Well, I'd say Persona 4... but the show didn't cover it nearly as well as the game did. Gonna be honest... I wasn't a big fan of the P4 Animation, but the game itself remains one of my favorites for its ability to truly delve into the concept of friendship with the message that our bonds with one another are our true strength.

I would say MLP would be one of the first mainstreamed cartoons to focus on concepts of friendships. There is Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai but that one gets pretty weird.

Boy Meets World and That 70s Show were both pretty friendship-heavy. There was a little romance, but it always seemed like friendship was the focus.
