gaming Fire starter pokemon

Am I the only one who want different colored Fire starter Pokemon? Not different colored, as in a Shiny, but something other than the red, orange, yellow color scheme that all fire starters have.... Like Litwick and its be evolutionary line. I remember I got excited the first time I saw it, since it was a fire pokemon with BLUE and PURPLE flames, and not the typical color of fire pokemon

So what do you think about fire starter pokemon in future generations getting other colors in their design

I think I would like a FIre Starter that isn't a shade of red. It not only would make it stand out of the crowd, but it would also be quite original too.

But as much as I would like it, there's little chance of it happening. From a designing point of view, red, green and blue are three colours work well according to colour theories, which you can see here. Red, green and blue are such contrasting colours that, as a result, it makes a trio of Starters more memorable. And not just that, but all of the Grass Starters always have been green, while all of the Water Starters always have been blue. It would feel pretty jarring if that pattern breaks. Some fans also like to link colours with types. If a Fire Starter was, say, green instead of the usual shade of red, then some fans would be confused by this, unless if pulled off completely different, like the Litwick line.

But if it's Fire Types in general, then I could buy that. Granted, it won't be easy to do as most fans like to associate shades of red with the Fire Type, but if pulled off well, then I would be happy to see a Fire Type of a different colour.

I typically choose the fire starter Pokemon, and - though I'd never even thought of it until now - I wouldn't mind more color variety.  At the same time, the simple type / color association they've got going on right now does work.  What color will the water starter be if the fire starter is made blue?

And now I suddenly think I'd like a future set of starters to NOT be fire / water / grass. o_O  Are there three other types that could form a comparable rock, paper, scissors dynamic?

they don't have to break up the red, blue, green tradition. Just switch it up a little, since the same colors for the same types has gotten stale.

Magikarp is orange, yet still a water type. Shiny Charizard has blue flames, but is still a fire type. Bayleaf, Sunkern, Sunflora, Weepinbell and Victreebel are yellw, but are still grass types. Hoppip is red, but a grass type. Jumpluff is blue...grass type.

There's not really a lot of colors a fire pokemon could be

that's not true at all

Game Freak could easily make fire pokemon around like how real fire has many different colors

real fire isnt JUST orange, red and yellow. Fire can burn white. Why not a white colored fire starter? Fire can also be blue- a temperature hotter than red or yellow flames. Blue fire pokemon could exist. The nature of the fuel and its chemical composition can also affect the color of the flame.Lithium (Li), for instance, gives a pink flame. Why not a pink fire starter?

Yeah, I understand what you mean, and I'd love a blue-ish, pink-ish fire type starter. However, every single grass type has been generally the same shade of green, and every water starter is generally the same shade of blue. I suppose it's to make it consistent throughout the generations and so kids don't see a blue fire starter and think it's the water type.

or, yanno, they could bother to read the dialogue, which TELLS a player "this is a fire type. This is a water type. This is a grass type", or see a flame on the starter, or a leaf on the grass type, or fins on the water type, and KNOW what they're getting, regardless of what color the rest of the Pokemon is. Color doesn't play the only role.

@@Nightmare Muffin,

Yes, but color does play a large role. Some kids might have trouble reading the fine print, or just skip through it, and need to rely on pictures, and some starters don't have fire on them, or leaves, or something else that indicates what type it is.

For example, if I recolored Fennekin blue (not my image), a starter that does not have many indications that it is a fire type regardless of color, kids might get confused when they see another blue starter

Also, fire type attacks are generally red fire, and a blue fennekin spitting out red fire wouldn't look as pleasing compared to a red fennekin spitting out fire.

I usually pick the fire starter in most Pokemon games depending on the Pokemon, I picked Charmander in the originals and Cyndaquil in the 2nd generation games, but I also sometimes pick the grass or water starters too.

Being someone that has picked mostly the Fire starters, I have to agree. Their color schemes are always easy on the eyes and match perfectly with their fire type, so it makes a lot of sense, but perhaps some choice would be nice. Like you pick your starter and then you can pick from a multitude of different color schemes for that start. It would be great for plentiful variety and personalization of our start Pokemon. :) I started playing HeartGold recently and of course I picked Cyndaquil but I would love to able to change up his colors fora more personal touch, especially since he is my start after all, rather than just the flaming hot colors we are used to.

I like how they did Cyndaquil's line. It doesn't have to be red to be a fire pokemon. And I can't lie, I liked litwick's color scheme. A little off topic, but it's backstory was really dark lol. Especially when there was that anime episode where he tried to send everyone to the "ghost world" or if you ask me hell. By eating the main charachters' life energy too. It still creeps me out.
