I have never used Vista in my life, only 2000/XP/7/8, and out of all of them I hated 8.

And a question, does it force you to download it? If it does I might have to sue Microsoft :3 (not literally)

It downloads in the background if you reserved the upgrade, but you can install it on your own time. Also, it's being sent out in waves, so if you reserve it you might not get it immediately.

Okay, that makes sense.

I don't want it anyways, so I'm good. :P I was just wondering if it forces you to download it and change Windows.

(I would kill MS at the point xD)

Doesn't download if you don't reserve the upgrade.

Yeah, there may be some bad bumps that MS doesn't fix along the way.

Like no start menu in Win9 >>

That was Steven Sinofsky's decision, apparently, the lack of a Start menu in Windows 8. When he was the head of the Windows team, he wanted to be the next Steve Jobs, and got the "be a dick" part right, but not the other parts right, and would not listen to team members saying that the lack of a Start menu for the desktop version might not be that well-received by desktop users. Needless to say he doesn't work on the Windows team (and I think not even Microsoft for that matter) anymore.

Sorry, I meant to say Win8

Yeah, that's true. But I've also had problems simply downloading emulators, or even torrenting. My friend, who has a Windows 7, said he had never had the problems that I was having trying to download things. That's another reason I hate Win8. Win10 will most likely be the same as 8 in a lot of ways, just upgraded to be "better". Am I right?

I updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. The process went fine, but it seemed slower. I guess it was because I didn't made a clean install and choose to keep my programs.

But this wasn't my issue with Win10. My problem was that 10 does not have OneDrive's smart files, in which you can choose your cloud files whether they are available only online or also offline, but you can still browse the files list on explorer, thus saving disk space. Now OneDrive reversed back to choosing which folders to synchronize, no option to browse files not available locally.

As a result, I am rolling back to Win8.1 as we speak. I read somewhere that Microsoft plans to enable smart files on the future, though.

Uhh, what? That has nothing to do with the operating system, it has more to do with your network connection. Trust me, I hold a degree in network engineering.

Also, there are emulators in the Windows store, so Microsoft doesn't have a problem with emulators.

I was saying there were a bunch of extra steps I had to take due to Win8 being complicated and awkward. It wasn't the downloading that was the problem, necessarily, it was the process of setting up the download, or even using it once it was downloaded. I had to take a lot of extra steps, had a lot of problems with certain programs, and such.

My friends on Win7 did not have these problems.

Yeah, sounds like you're having network problems. Check your drivers and connections.

I pretty much did it to get my start menu back. Windows 8 was bad, windows 8.1 was WAY better, but still wasn't what I wanted. Windows 10 so far has been nice to me. No cock-ups so far, (apart from the fact that Cortana actually can't understand a single word at all). It's looking quite pretty. I'm glad I did the upgrade. :)

My update is all done... I love this new OS, also if you are primmarly using Firefox.. you may encounter some errors...

I've been using Firefox and it's been working fine. My only issue is the battary life instantly dies at 0% instead of lingering for a few minutes. Kind of an issue when you're laptop has a faulty battery.

I'm perfectly content with 8.1 after I installed Start8 to get my Start Menu back. Thus I have little interest in 10.

I was worried about windows 10 requiring some sort of account thing since I have two computers.  Would I be able to update both of them?  I was kinda considering on waiting until some time has passed before updating my computers anyways.  Beyond that, I'm perfectly content with 8.1 right now(my laptop is on windows 7 though).

For the record, the rollback option to the previous version works great  ^_^. The restore panel said that this option would be available for one month.

You can install it without an Microsoft Account. It is possible to install on any computer with a valid license of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. You will need to enter the license key if you format the computer before installing, however if you run the installer inside Windows it will give an option to keep your programs and files, just your files, or do a clean install (you lose both your files and programs).

For those of us that built our PCs, here is a list of motherboards that have their Windows 10 drivers available, keep in mind this list is constantly updated

http://www.maximumpc.com/windows-10-graphics-cards-and-motherboard-drivers-updating/

Also I found this press release from ASUS

http://rog.asus.com/422412015/labels/product-news/asus-announces-whql-certification-for-windows-10/

Looks like my motherboard will in fact receive Windows 10 drivers, just gotta be patient

(In case for whatever reason you want to know, the motheboard I am using is the ASUS M5A78L-M LX Plus)

I'm gonna get a new laptop eventually so I'll have to get Windows 10 when I do. So for now I'm enjoying Windows 7, I feel no need to upgrade. There's always bugs or kinks after a new update like this hits, so I'm fine sticking to my completely awesome version for now :P Plus it's just hard to let go :( I don't think Windows 10 would look appropriate on my old laptop either

I got my Windows 10 up and running! Though I cannot help but be paranoid about some of the privacy concerns surrounding 10 and Cortana. Most predominant being when I see this. in the privacy options -> Speech, inking & Typing

Windows and Cortana can get to know your voice and writing to make better suggestions for you. We'll collect information like your contacts, recent calender events, speech and handwriting patterns, and typing history.

Then there is the "Location" stuff.

When location services for this account are on apps, and services you allow can request location and location history

.

When location is on, the locations obtained to meet the needs of your apps and services will be stored for a limited time on the device. Apps have access to these stored locations will appear below.

Cortana is ALWAYS on (unless you turn Cortana off i guess) and MSN weather is all i let use my location.
