Singing in the show is a bit obnoxious.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think the delightful, often catchy or awesome, songs are a staple of this show. One of the many aspects of why I see it as an exceptional show, not just an exceptional children's cartoon.

Just my opinion, of course. ;)

I love the show as much as any brony, but I have to just say that the songs are just a little annoying sometimes. What do you think?

I agree with you, but as you can see from the replies, they do it because although perhaps obnoxious, it's certainly wanted xD

I've gotta say, I didn't like the songs originally, they just seemed too girly to me, but they've grown on me.

I absolutely love the music now.

Except "you gotta share, you gotta care", but even that was funny.

Annoying?! post-1052-0-37623000-1329709750.gif

No, I disagree.

I LOVE the songs! When I re-watch episodes I always sing along post-1052-0-17597300-1329709763.gif

Hahahah I laughed so hard. And the subtitles just made it funnier.

I enjoy the singing in the show! Except songs by Pinkie Pie...I don't know what it is about her that rubs me the wrong way, but meh. Besides that, I enjoy them very much so!

I like most of the songs in the show, but I skip the intro most of the time. The only episode that got obnoxious with songs was A Friend in Deed. Smile, Smile, Smile is great, but they put too many songs in it in my opinion.

I don't like how the songs always seem to have random, inopportune placements (haven't seen a TV show yet that handled spontaneous singing well), but after hearing the songs, I always end up liking them. Except for the beginning of the theme song in S1, reminds me too much of the older MLP shows (way too saturated with girliness, to the point where it's annoying and patronizing).

I admit some are better than others but usually the long ones are the ones with higher quality. FIM's songs are one of the few songs from children shows that I can actually listen to AND have it on my I-pod, let alone tolerate it.

I have to respectfully disagree; in my opinion, the show's creators could've easily screwed up the entire concept of having songs in the show regularly and made it nothing more than an annoying gimmick that rarely appears in the show. Instead, not only are the songs usually of quite high quality, but also, they've become a regular element of the show, to the point that I'd even be willing to label the show as a "family musical-comedy" if I was trying to pin down it's specific genre.

Of all the songs, I'd probably have to say Winter Wrap Up is my favorite, especially after hearing the 8-bit version of it at the end of the Ponies Anthology video on YouTube!

The songs in the show have actually decreased. Seventeen songs were sung in season 1, only eleven in season two thus far.

As for the songs, they're in no shape or form obnoxious. Nine out of ten times, the singing is not only the best part of the episodes, but the most important, too. "The Smile Song" describes Pinkie Pie's joy perfectly and foreshadows her persistence to cheer up Cranky Doodle Donkey. "Becoming Popular" describes Rarity's desire to have ponies outside Ponyville follow and understand her wisdom. "Art of the Dress" honors "Putting It Together" and conflicts with Rarity's interests to not only be recognized, but also heed her friends' desires for the dresses that fit the characters one hundred percent.

Actually, I agree with this! After the first season, I was wondering why people were going so crazy over the music, because I personally felt like fastforwarding through a lot of them....(some of the remixes are absolutley amazing, but I only found those after)!

But the second season's musical interludes have improved DRAMATICALLY, and I just love them so much more, they're not so cheesy as in the first season. In fact, I actually love "Smile" and "Becoming Popular", and can listen to them without any remixing and enjoy them... :P

I enjoy listening to the songs from the show, I have the majority of them on my iPod! I have a few remixes and originals thrown in too.

The first episode I saw was 'May the Best Pet Win', and I thought the song was rather enjoyable, sort of a sing-a-long musical. Which is a good thing, because if it had left a bad impression, I doubt I would have gone back for another episode.

Sure, some of the songs are cliché, but the characters normally play it down in the whole 'Oh God no' sort of way that people watching would do. They know the song is cliché, and they make a joke of it so we can laugh our way through it. It's admirable really. =P

I actually really enjoy all the songs in the show here. With most songs I just want to sing or hum along to the beat. I think my favorite song would have to be the winter wrap up song. There is a lot of absolutely 101% freaking amazing remixes of the songs on youtube too that you should all really look up if you haven't already!

I personally found the introduction song a bit annoying at first because someone else might of heard me listening to it and wonder what the heck I was watching. Every episode now though I listen to it because it gets me even more hyped up for the show and in general puts me in a better mood. xD

If only there was more songs!

I sing that about twice a day :(

Good for you. We don't have to like the same thing. ^_^

From bitterness I arise. I shall thrive in the cool darkness of this moonlit winter's night. Oh how far I have arisen to meet you my friends.

they're not anymore obnoxious than all the other songs you hear in animated movies and shows. the only thing keeping me from listening to them regularly is that they're more fitting to hear in the context of the show rather than standalone songs. luckily, fan remixes of the songs remedy that. ;)

I'm an oddball, I dance to every song and sing along with the opening theme song.

At school, sometimes when I'm walking to next class I hum or even softly sing one of the songs, people give me "That Look" but who cares xD If your not going to be you, who you gonna be?

You misunderstood me. I was saying that the episode A Friend in Deed had too many, not season 2. I think it had about four, and that's a bit too much for me.
